One-Eyed Monster
Chapter 920 - 918: The Power of Belief
"Let Igor try it." Stan Sol said once more.
"Are you sure? Igor is just a rookie, he only recently stepped into the professional world... Of course, I'm not saying he's incapable, I know he's been through a lot on Guru Mountain, but I'm just being cautious about this matter."
"I understand, I appreciate the Dean's good intentions, but this is a special moment. We also need to take some special measures..."
"Indeed, you young people all love such adventures. And honestly, where would the rewards come from without taking risks? We old folks should step down from the stage." Unknowingly, Dean Hoffman began to lament again.
"Let him give it a try, I always feel he has a hint of specialness, though I can't quite put my finger on it, but I can sense it..." Lord Governor also started to mumble. For him, these were strange feelings, as a politician, he shouldn't be indecisive.
"Since everyone trusts Igor so much, then Igor, give it a try." Stan Sol said to Igor, placing his hopes on him. During his time with Igor, he discovered that Igor was always able to produce remarkable effects, so he had quite some expectations.
The communication with Tobin had encountered obstacles, which made him a bit anxious.
"No problem, you all have to trust me, give me strength." Igor snapped his fingers, his confidence seemed innate, his smile was comforting, making people genuinely believe in this young man!
Perkins, though feeling a bit uneasy inside, began to doubt if he himself was mistaken after seeing everyone supporting Igor so much.
But one couldn't deny, Igor indeed always talked about some inexplicable things! And the matter about Governor Rostov's negative emotions wasn't even settled yet; he can't just let him try without addressing it first.
Perkins, being quite clear-headed, quickly pulled Igor back from soaring too high: "Wait a moment, the thing with Lord Governor isn't settled yet. How can you just think about doing another thing? Let's finish this matter first."
This puzzled Stan Sol a bit, what's with all this this-and-that? It sounded like some bizarre riddle, was Perkins deliberately causing trouble...?
Just as he was about to intervene, before he could open his mouth, Igor spoke: "Oh right, I almost forgot if you hadn't reminded me. You're right, things should be handled one by one, we shouldn't forget one thing just to handle another. Let's resolve that matter first!"
Stan Sol was left in confusion. It seemed reasonable for these two to be staring each other down because their interaction was so unique, no one else could understand a single word of this this-and-that talk, as if playing a tongue twister...
While everyone was bewildered, Igor had already started to extend his spirit power deep within, wanting to dispel the emotions affecting Lord Governor. How could he sense these emotions? Because he could perceive those delicate spirit forces, and those tiny details influenced emotions.
Others couldn't see these tiny things, but Igor could detect them because he is an Awakened, he could see the spirits.
And the best way to deal with these spirits was to captivate them with stories.
Currently, Igor hadn't figured out why these spirits produced negative emotions on Governor Rostov, but he knew he had to immediately use an extremely captivating story to draw all the spirits' attention.
Igor realized that his battle with the spirits at present was all about verbal sparring.
There was no other way, and Igor's rate of success with this one method was quite high.
The spirits had just developed emotions, coincidentally, they were negative; the spirits awakened by Rostov happened to be this batch, and Igor quickly took care of it.
In no time, Governor Rostov's demeanor changed, and others around him could clearly see the transformation.
Mighty and dignified, now that's how a governor should appear!
"How did you do it?" Perkins asked, eyes widened again, not quite believing what had just happened.
"Because I'm an Awakened, I know what these spirits want. Of course, I can see them, that's the premise." Igor seemed somewhat proud.
"Uh, Stan Sol is also an Awakened, why didn't he see it?" Perkins thought things weren't that simple, so he started digging for the truth.
"Well, this…" Igor was indeed stumped by Perkins' question for a moment.
Indeed, Stan Sol was also an Awakened, yet he didn't see these spirits. This was puzzling. Why did the same Awakened get different treatment? It's unfair!
Apparently, there are differences even among Awakened individuals. Perhaps Igor, as an Awakened, could see more spirits, while Stan Sol could only see spirits related to his Spirit Sensing. This was Dean Hoffman's speculation, but he couldn't be sure. After all, they had only recently started engaging with spirits, and a lot needed verification. This wasn't something that could be resolved in a day or two, nor was it something that could be sorted out in a short time.
"Seems like you don't know either." Perkins didn't seem disappointed; on the contrary, he was quite excited, as if it would be abnormal for Igor to actually know.
"Sometimes people are like this, they know what to do, but don't understand the principles behind it. Don't overthink it, just go with your instincts." Seeing Igor somewhat pained, Stan Sol quickly comforted him. After all, Igor was very important to him now, he still needed Igor to awaken his brother.
"I know, I know, but I must take a breather now, or my energy won't hold up." Igor said.
Stan Sol was momentarily stunned. What was Igor talking about, he couldn't understand it at all, echoing Perkins' previous doubts about Igor's constant dialogue filled with incomprehensibilities, and so abruptly, too.
"I need to gather strength, a kind of belief in strength, because right now my whole being is devoid of confidence; without confidence, I can't fight those spirits!" Igor chattered on, seemingly trying to explain things, but actually causing more confusion among the people.
What is this belief in strength supposed to be, and why is there talk of gathering strength...?
