Only My Weapons Level UP
Chapter 123: Costly
With a deep breath, Terry charged forward, swinging the black steel Destroyer with all his might, trying to break through the ice walls. His strikes were powerful, but the walls were resilient, and more seemed to form faster than he could destroy them.
Each time Terry shattered an ice barrier, the Overlord would create another, forcing him to change his approach constantly. The creature was relentless, and Terry knew he couldn’t afford to let his guard down even for a moment.
"Shit, I won’t have another chance like this," Terry thought and then jumped with all his might to pass the obstacles.
s Terry soared through the air, a sudden barrage of ice spears came hurtling towards him from the troll overlord. He reacted quickly, using the black steel Destroyer to block the deadly projectiles. However, the sheer force behind the ice spears pushed him backward, making him lose control of his trajectory.
Just when it seemed like Terry might crash into the ground, something unexpected happened. A powerful earth spear shot out of nowhere and collided with the back of the troll overlord’s head. The impact caused the monster to stagger and lose focus for a moment, disrupting its attack.
Terry saw Vanessa from a distance, and it seemed that her attack pierced the nape of the enemy a bit. They had killed all the remaining trolls somehow, so they had the chance to help when Terry most needed it.
"I guess I can allow her to have this assist," Terry said when he landed at the top of one of the ice walls and then jumped toward the troll Overlord.
With gritted teeth, he swung down the black steel Destroyer with all his might, channeling his mana into the blade and surrounding it with a barrage of blazing Fire Swords. The combined power of the attack was overwhelming, and a searing inferno enveloped the massive sword.
The troll overlord, still reeling from the previous blows, attempted to block Terry’s strike with its ice claws. But this time, the attack was too fierce and too precise. The force of Terry’s blow shattered the ice claws, and the flaming sword cleaved through the enemy’s defenses with a relentless fury.
The impact was cataclysmic. The ground trembled beneath them, and a shockwave rippled through the battlefield. Terry’s blade tore through the Overlord’s head, crushing it with a devastating force. The flames from the Fire Swords intensified the damage, engulfing the upper half of the beast in a maelstrom of fire and destruction.
But Terry didn’t stop there. The immense power of the black steel Destroyer continued its relentless descent, cutting through the Overlord’s body like a scorching hot blade through butter. The flames danced and consumed the enemy’s torso, making it impossible for the regenerative abilities of the troll to catch up.
Terry didn’t drop his guard and was about to turn the body of the monster into ashes, at least until he saw a skill book appearing on the side of the body.
"... It is finally over," Terry thought and then sighed in relief.
The relief only lasted for a moment; as the dust settled from the intense battle, the entire area trembled with an unsettling energy. Terry’s keen eyes noticed the portal, the gateway that had brought the troll overlord to their world, shrinking rapidly. The once vast opening now diminished to a fraction of its former size, no longer able to accommodate the colossal frame of the defeated enemy.
Terry felt a mix of relief and frustration. On the one hand, the shrinking portal meant that the threat of more trolls pouring into their world was decreasing. However, on the other hand, he had hoped to salvage something from the troll overlord’s massive body—a powerful weapon or a means to enhance his armor.
"Tsk, can’t be helped," Terry clicked his tongue and grabbed the skill book.
You learned the skill of Water Manipulation.
Water Manipulation: grants the caster the ability to control and manipulate water in various ways. With this elemental power at their command, the caster can bend water to their will, shaping it into different forms and using it for both defensive and offensive purposes.
As Terry dashed toward the portal, his mind was abuzz with thoughts about the abilities of the overlords and the potential rewards they might offer. He wondered if the strength and uniqueness of an overlord’s abilities determined the skill books they would drop upon defeat. Skill books were highly sought-after items that allowed individuals to learn and master powerful skills, and obtaining one from an overlord would undoubtedly be a significant advantage in battles to come.
As he neared the portal, Terry glanced back at the once-mighty ice castle that now crumbled and collapsed, reduced to mere rubble. The destruction of the overlord troll had caused a chain reaction, shaking the very foundations of the castle. The structure, once a symbol of the monster’s dominance, now lay in ruins, reflecting the finality of their victory.
However, his moment of reflection was brief as he saw the other guild masters gathering near the portal. Two of them were lying unconscious, their bodies bearing the marks of the intense battle they had just faced. Terry’s heart clenched with worry and empathy, knowing all too well the fear and uncertainty that followed facing such powerful adversaries.
They had managed to defeat the ice troll overlord, one of the most formidable foes they had encountered. It was a victory to be celebrated, but he knew there were more challenges ahead. The battle against the overlords was far from over, and he couldn’t let his guard down.
As they prepared to return through the portal, Terry thought back to Vanessa’s words about the importance of helping as many people as possible. He knew that their journey was far from over, and more lives were at stake. The skills and rewards they gained from the overlords could make a significant difference in their battle against the monsters and in securing the future of Earth.
