Chapter 125: Progress back home

As the trip back home proceeded smoothly, Terry couldn’t shake off the lingering thoughts about their mission. The question gnawed at his mind: if they were not planning to close all the portals, what would the overlords of those places do? The realization that their world had been exploited for resources might very well provoke a response from the overlords, who undoubtedly possessed a keen sense of pride.

Terry knew that the situation was delicate and complex. Their actions in dealing with the portals could have far-reaching consequences, and he couldn’t help but feel a sense of responsibility for the potential repercussions of their decisions.

As he gazed out of the window during the flight, he couldn’t help but ponder the implications of their mission. The balance between preserving their world and preventing a greater threat was a fine line to walk.

"What are you thinking about?" Rebecca asked while she was carrying both of her siblings on her shoulders.

"... About the pile of work waiting for us back home," Terry replied.

In the end, Terry decided not to worry about Rebecca with that. If something were to happen, then he would deal with it accordingly. There was no reason about what might happen; he should only worry about the problems that they currently had. Living with anxiety was hard to be called living.

Upon their return to New York, the group bid farewell to the other guild masters they had met during their mission. Terry couldn’t help but acknowledge that despite their initial suspicions and differences, the guild masters had proven to be cooperative and competent allies. They handled the situation well, and there were no signs of trouble in their absence, much to Terry’s surprise.

However, with no immediate threats or pressing matters to attend to, Terry found himself growing restless and bored. The adrenaline and excitement from the mission had kept him on edge, and now the sudden lull left him yearning for action once more.

"Are you disappointed that we don’t have a pile of problems waiting for us?" Rebecca asked. "Have you turned into a masochist of some sort?"

"I am going to talk with Clark," Terry said. "Don’t slack off too much since we will decide where he will head next over the course of the week."

"You need to learn how to relax," Rebecca shrugged.

Terry’s eyes widened in astonishment as he entered the Blacksmiths’ workshop. He had expected some progress to be made, but seeing twenty smaller versions of his armor ready for use was beyond his wildest imagination. The Blacksmiths had worked tirelessly to replicate the prototype, and now they had produced twenty new sets of armor, each bearing the same striking black and red design.

"They’ve certainly been busy," Terry muttered, a mix of pride and awe filling his heart. He could see the potential in these smaller versions of his armor. While not as powerful as the original, they were still formidable enough to elevate ordinary individuals to the ranks of A-class hunters.

Terry inspected one of the new armors closely, running his hand along the intricate details and craftsmanship. The Blacksmiths had done an exceptional job, ensuring that the smaller versions were equipped with various enhancements that would aid the wearers in battle.

"Welcome back, guild master," Clark said while he was cleaning his face from sweat with a piece of cloth. "As expected of our leader, you solved a big problem in a matter of days."

"Don’t mind that; it seems that your work is going fast here," Terry said.

"It could have been faster, but the materials are starting to decrease; it seems that the portal is leading us to smaller camps of enemies," Clark said.

Terry’s mind was abuzz with thoughts as he considered the news about the mechanic warriors. The fact that their numbers were so small seemed suspicious to him. Were they intentionally keeping their forces hidden, or were they simply not as powerful as they claimed to be? Something didn’t add up, and Terry couldn’t shake the feeling that there was more to the story than they were letting on.

As he examined the smaller versions of his armor, Terry couldn’t help but wonder if it was time to explore other materials for battle armor. While Greysteel had proven to be incredibly powerful, it was also challenging to work with and limited in supply. If they were to face more threats from the overlords, they needed to be prepared with a variety of armor options.

"I will find a solution to that; in the meantime, I want you to see what you can do with both of these," Terry said and then passed his battle armor and the Blacksteel Destroyer.

Blacksteel Destroyer - Lv 40 (70/400 EXP) (Heroic)

Attack Power: 600

Defense: 600

Health Charge: 2000/2000

Durability: 1870/2000

Smash: it grants you the power to attack the ground and destabilize the footing of the enemies in the area for two seconds. It can be used every ten seconds.

Blunt Damage Up even if your attack is blocked, you can cause ten percent of the total damage to the enemy no matter what.

Giant Hunter: it increases your damage by ten percent when fighting enemies bigger than you.

Critical Rate Up: increases chances of causing critical damage by ten percent.

Block Rate Up: increases chances of blocking damage by ten percent.

Charged Strike: a skill that lets you increase the power of your next Strike by three hundred percent if you stop moving for ten seconds.

Insane Throw: you can throw the weapon and stun the target for two seconds after causing damage. It has a cooldown time of fifteen seconds.

Jump Strike: a skill that causes more damage the higher you jump. It has a twenty seconds cooldown time.

The weapon leveled up a lot thanks to all those battles. Still, the armor didn’t get that much experience since Terry didn’t use it for the last hits, but in the end, it had been more efficient to use the Blacksteel Destroyer.
