Chapter 131: Misunderstanding

After the guild masters had discussed their strategy and disbanded the call, Terry decided to make the most of the rest of the day to address the mobility issue. He spent time upgrading and leveling up more armor, ensuring that his guild members would have powerful equipment to aid them in their missions.

As he worked, his mind kept coming back to the problem of transportation. He knew that Vanessa and Rebecca would prioritize dungeons that were nearby at first to avoid unnecessary risks. Still, as they continued their operations, they might have to venture further away. Terry realized that having a flexible and reliable method of transportation was essential.

Terry checked the shops of the other guilds and eventually found what he was looking for. The boots were crafted from fine black leather, exuding an air of elegance and durability. They were designed with sleek, aerodynamic lines, hugging the feet comfortably while offering full support. Adorning the sides of the boots were small, delicate wings, expertly crafted from a silvery metallic material that shimmered in the light.

The wings were not ostentatious or large, but rather, they were subtle and tastefully integrated into the overall design. Positioned just above the ankles, the wings added a touch of mythical charm to the boots, giving the impression that the wearer could take flight at any moment.

Defense: 05

Movement Speed: 50%

Durability: 05/05

Terry understood that the boots might not have been everyone’s cup of tea, especially for those who preferred a more direct approach in battle. Their subtle benefits of agility and enhanced movement were not as impactful as increasing attack power or defense, which were more sought after by most warriors.

However, Terry saw the potential in the boots, especially for his own play style. As a strategic and versatile fighter, he valued mobility and the ability to outmaneuver his opponents. He knew that having an extra edge in agility could make a significant difference in critical moments.

So, he decided to take matters into his own hands. Gathering the necessary materials and resources, he entrusted the boots to Clark, the talented blacksmith. Terry explained his vision for the boots, requesting specific enhancements to make them more appealing to warriors who valued speed and maneuverability in combat.

"I can do this easily in a day," Clark declared.

"Great, I will come back tomorrow," Terry said.

Terry didn’t know if the boots would consume too much of their stamina, but he knew that he couldn’t have his cake and eat it, too, so he was willing to accept that much of a drawback. Much to his surprise, the improvements that Clark made were above his expectations.

Defense: 10

Movement Speed: 100%

Durability: 10/10

"I tried a bunch of other things, but I ended up risking damaging them, so I decided to play it safe," Clark explained.

"It is perfect. Thanks for your hard work again," Terry said.

With the Wings of the Agile Seraph now equipped, Terry felt a newfound sense of swiftness and freedom as he headed toward his dungeon. He knew that testing and training with the boots was essential to fully understand their capabilities and to help them level up.

Inside the dungeon, he instructed the rest of the guild members to take a day off while he focused on leveling up the boots. He knew some might complain about not being included in the training. Still, Terry’s respected leadership ensured that everyone understood the importance of this task, and they respected his decision.

As he fought against waves of mechanic warriors, Terry put the boots through their paces. The enhanced agility and levitation allowed him to maneuver swiftly through the battlefield, dodging attacks and launching counter-attacks with ease. It was indeed an effective way to level up the boots, as their use during intense battles increased their proficiency.

However, Terry quickly noticed that the boots were not as durable as he had hoped. They seemed to lose durability over time, even without taking direct hits. This concerned him, as he knew that prolonged use could wear down the boots faster than expected.

To preserve the boots and avoid unnecessary damage, Terry adjusted his strategy. He utilized his Fire Swords to burn half of the mechanic warriors to a crisp from a distance, minimizing direct combat with them. Once weakened, he finished them off with precise kicks to their weak spots, causing their bodies to crumble.

The process was time-consuming, and killing hundreds of mechanic warriors took a good part of the day. Despite the boots reaching level ten, Terry was disappointed to find that the much-desired self-repair ability had not manifested yet.

"You are finally back," Rebecca said when he left the portal. "We have finished things on our end."

"We will talk after dinner. Tell Vanessa to come as well," Terry replied. "Did you already send the prototypes to the guilds?"

"Yes," Rebecca replied.

As Terry pondered their next course of action, he considered the options laid before them. Closing several dungeons in a short span of time seemed like an effective way to address the threat, but it also came with risks. It could potentially alert the enemy to their presence and patterns, making it easier for them to anticipate their movements. On the other hand, taking on the dungeons one at a time and returning the next morning might be a more strategic approach to maintain an element of surprise.

After careful consideration, Terry decided that working at a non-regular pace was the better option. By alternating their schedules and closing dungeons at different intervals, they could keep the enemy guessing and avoid falling into a predictable routine. This way, they would be less likely to be targeted when they were away from home.

"Why are you so lightly dressed?" Terry asked when Vanessa showed up at his guild. "We are going to depart soon; didn’t you realize that?"
