Chapter 172: Quick

As the group found themselves encircled, tension thickened the air. The robots’ hands were raised, fingers aimed at them like barrels of a cannon. And then, as if in orchestrated unison, they unleashed a relentless storm of power. Bolts of lightning erupted from their outstretched palms, crackling with fierce energy as they streaked through the air towards the group.

The barrage was overwhelming, a deluge of sizzling energy that illuminated the darkness and painted the sky with its searing brightness. Terry, Rebecca, and Vanessa had little time to react, the situation evolving rapidly beyond their control. The lightning bolts rained down upon them with unrelenting force, each one carrying the potential to bring destruction

Even though they didn’t have time to coordinate, Vanessa and Gustavo had the same reaction and use their powers to create barriers around the group.

The gusts of wind and the invisible telekinetic shield enveloped the group, forming a protective cocoon that deflected the lightning bolts launched by the giant robots. The bolts crackled and hissed as they met these barriers, prevented from finding their intended targets. But even these formidable defenses were not impervious to the unrelenting barrage; with each impact, the barriers wavered and diminished.

Terry’s attention was momentarily diverted from maintaining the barrier as he observed a sudden interruption in the onslaught. His eyes followed the trajectory of a spear that materialized amidst the enemy ranks, its swift flight punctuated by a flash of silvery light. The weapon cleaved through the air with deadly accuracy, finding its mark amidst the mechanical monstrosities.

The enemies faltered and fell as the spear sliced through them, creating a ripple of chaos in their formations. And as swiftly as it appeared, the spear vanished into thin air, leaving only a trail of downed foes in its wake. Terry recognized the source of this intervention – Fernanda, their newfound ally, had joined the fray with her own precise and powerful strike.

In that moment of respite, the group’s defenses were given a chance to recover. The wind and telekinetic barriers regained some of their lost strength, pushing back against the relentless storm of lightning bolts.

Terry had no idea how she was doing that, but she was making her spears suddenly appear in the middle of the enemies while also killing the humans inside them... their location was easy to find, but her ability sure was scary.

Still, Fernanda soon began to look quite exhausted, but at least she managed to stop the enemies. When the attacks ended, Gustavo and Vanessa stopped their attacks and Terry charged. At the same time, Rebecca turned the earth platform that they used into dust and made them cover the bodies of the robots. They won’t turn invisible anymore.

Amid the chaos of the battlefield, Terry’s resolve only solidified. As his companions fought to maintain the barriers and divert the onslaught of lightning bolts, he fixated his gaze on the grotesque machines that had ensnared humans in their metallic grasp. The sight of tubes connected to their spinal cords, their bodies manipulated and violated, fueled his determination to end their suffering.

With his sword held firmly in hand, Terry advanced toward the nearest robot. His heart raced, his steps unwavering as he navigated through the volatile battlefield. The shrill hum of the lightning bolts reverberated around him, an eerie symphony accompanying his every movement.

Upon reaching the first robot, he wasted no time. With a deft, swift stroke of his sword, he severed the cables that tethered the human captive. The release was both a physical and symbolic act, a gesture of mercy amidst the chaos. The figure slumped forward, freed from the mechanical embrace that had imprisoned them.

A surge of mixed emotions welled within Terry as he moved from one machine to the next, his actions a dance of swift determination. The tubes, swollen and invasive, were severed with each measured strike of his blade. The sight of the humans, now liberated from their metallic prisons, struck a chord deep within him. He knew, however, that their freedom was bittersweet, their bodies forever marred by the ordeal they had endured.

While thrusting his sword on the same spot, Terry attacked the robots while leaping from one to the other with extreme speed. They began to fall in droves thanks to it.

The remaining robots used their lightning bolts and gravity magic to hit Terry, but that didn’t change a thing. He used the Mana Shield of the armor to reject those attacks when he was hit. In no time, the monsters were knocked down...

Gustavo and Fernanda exchanged surprised glances as Terry rejoined them, his stance one of heightened vigilance and readiness. The rumors they had heard about the power of Terry’s armors were nothing compared to witnessing it firsthand. The sheer magnitude of his abilities left them both astounded and slightly unnerved.

As Terry stood before them, his armor radiating an aura of strength and dominance, they couldn’t help but consider the implications. His power surpassed anything they had encountered before, an undeniable force that could reshape the world’s balance if wielded without restraint. In that moment, the realization dawned on them: Terry held the potential to dominate not only the enemies before them but the entire world if he chose to do so.

The thought was both exhilarating and unsettling. They understood that if Terry were to turn against them, their combined strength as hunters and guild masters might not be sufficient to halt his advance. The balance of power would shift drastically, and it would require the unified efforts of all forces to even stand a chance against him.

"The forces of this place are quite something... it would be really troublesome if this weren’t the overlord base," Rebecca said.

"We should make this fall before something happens..." Vanessa said.

"We can’t take a risk until we confirm that everyone here is like the guys inside the robots," Terry declared. "Maybe it takes time for them to be able to use them as fuel sources."
