Chapter 203: Retreat
Terry’s battle instincts were razor-sharp. As the avian overlord unleashed thunder spears in an attempt to lock him in place, he sidestepped each projectile with lightning-fast reflexes. He realized that these spears would connect as soon as they landed, forming a deadly prison around him. With nimble footwork, he managed to avoid the encirclement, refusing to be cornered.
Just as he evaded the thunder spears, the bull overlord descended from above, wielding both of his massive axes. With remarkable precision, Terry swung his sword upward, intercepting the attack with a resounding clash. To the astonishment of both combatants, Terry not only blocked the strike but also pushed the bull overlord upward, leaving the imposing creature momentarily speechless.
But the battle was far from over. The ice giant, seizing the opportunity to strike from behind, landing a powerful blow at Terry. However, Terry’s swift reflexes came into play once more as he swung his sword backward, intercepting the attack with his unyielding defense.
The bull overlord was relentless, attacking Terry from the other side with both of his menacing axes. Terry knew he had to react quickly, so he leaped into the air to avoid the deadly assault. In mid-air, he contemplated a counterattack, but before he could strike, a massive blast of corrosive acid was fired toward him.
Thinking on his feet, Terry swung his sword downward with immense force. The blade sliced through the air, creating a powerful shockwave. This action not only deflected the acid attack but also split it into two, sending the dangerous substance harmlessly past him.
As Terry charged toward the overlords, they raised their guards, preparing for his assault. But Terry had a surprise in store. With a powerful kick to the ground, he launched himself into the air, initiating a spinning attack that defied gravity itself. His body rotated rapidly, straining his muscles to their limit. It felt as if his spine might snap, but he pushed through the pain.
The bull overlord, anticipating Terry’s attack, took a step forward, axes raised to block the oncoming assault. However, just when it seemed like Terry was about to collide with the bull overlord, an earth pillar suddenly erupted from the ground, striking Terry from below. The unexpected attack sent him hurtling upward, and he soared toward the avian overlord.
The avian overlord reacted quickly, aiming its electric cannon at Terry. Shockwaves coursed through Terry’s body as he continued his trajectory, not allowing the electric assault to deter him. With sheer determination, he passed through the avian overlord’s attack, defying the odds once again. The overlords found themselves momentarily bewildered by Terry’s audacious maneuvers, and he was determined to capitalize on this advantage.
The overlords were left utterly astonished by Terry’s audacious tactics. They had not anticipated that he would take down another one of their own in such a spectacular fashion. The Earth pillar’s tremendous force had left Terry with a series of broken ribs on one side of his body, but despite the pain, he had achieved his goal – not just one, but two of the overlords were now out of the battle. The tide was slowly turning in Terry’s favor, and the remaining overlords were left to reconsider their approach to this formidable opponent.

Terry hit the ground face-first due to the dizziness, but his resilience proved to be astounding. He quickly got back on his feet, and the overlords realized that he was not as easy a target as they had initially assumed. Fear crept into their ranks, as Terry, though battered and wounded, still stood strong and determined.
As Terry began to recover, he couldn’t help but wonder what was wrong with these overlords. They had orchestrated this elaborate plan and had the resources to send countless monsters to Earth, yet they seemed weaker and less intelligent than he expected. Something didn’t add up, and Terry couldn’t shake the feeling that there was more to this situation than met the eye.
"... Three left, who is next?" Terry asked while breathing roughly. "Come at me all at once, I am a bit too tired to move."
Terry’s mind raced as he contemplated the situation. The thought that someone might have manipulated these overlords into launching this relentless assault to exhaust him crossed his mind. It was the most plausible explanation, as they proved to be a formidable challenge, but not an insurmountable one. They were skilled and dangerous, yet they seemed to lack the finesse and strategy he’d expect from such powerful beings. If they were mere pawns in a larger scheme, then it was certainly working. Terry felt the weight of exhaustion settle on his shoulders, but he knew he couldn’t afford to give in to it just yet.
Terry’s patience wore thin as he trudged wearily towards the remaining overlords. His body ached, and he knew he couldn’t rely solely on his existing abilities to defeat them. It was time to test the first skill he’d acquired from his sword, even though his exhaustion threatened to impede his efforts. If this skill worked as he hoped, it could provide the edge he desperately needed. There was no better moment than now to unveil it and turn the tide of this relentless battle in his favor.
In a swift, calculated move, Terry shifted his sword to his side, adopting a resolute defensive stance. The overlords, at last, sensed a change in his demeanor and braced themselves for action. Yet, before they could execute their next move, Terry vanished from their sight, leaving them momentarily perplexed. In the blink of an eye, the lizard overlord was suddenly cleaved in two, caught completely off guard by Terry’s lightning-fast strike.
As the lower half of the lizard overlord separated from its upper body, a gruesome scene unfolded. Blood poured from the wound like a macabre rain, casting a sinister atmosphere over the battlefield. In the midst of this gruesome spectacle, the two remaining overlords turned to face Terry, their expressions a mix of surprise and fear. From Terry’s perspective, the entire sequence of events had unfolded so rapidly that, were it not for his enhanced speed and reflexes, he might have missed the precision and sheer power of his own attack.
With the lizard overlord incapacitated and bleeding out, it became apparent that the creature had no time to heal or attempt any form of recovery. Terry couldn’t help but wonder about the capabilities of overlords from other worlds.
Why didn’t they possess any healing skills or strategies? Were they relying solely on brute force and raw power, lacking the tactical finesse he’d expected from beings of their stature? These questions gnawed at Terry as he prepared for the final confrontation with the remaining two overlords.
Exhaustion was beginning to take a heavy toll on Terry’s body, each movement weighed down by the intense battle that had raged on for what felt like an eternity. However, just as he was about to confront the last two overlords, he turned to see an unexpected sight: the overlords were fleeing. In a desperate scramble, they sprinted back toward their portals, their monstrous minions following suit. Terry couldn’t help but be bewildered by this sudden retreat.
Terry couldn’t help but feel a surge of annoyance and frustration. These overlords, who had initiated the battle with a six-to-one advantage, were now retreating in the face of a wounded opponent. It was a display of cowardice that left him shaking his head in disbelief. In his eyes, they had come unprepared, like they had forgotten to bring their balls to the fight they had started.
Terry swiftly transformed his weapon into a crossbow, determination burning in his eyes. He fired a barrage of fireballs at the retreating monsters, their numbers and proximity making it impossible for them to escape unscathed. The bolts exploded upon impact, tearing through the clustered enemies. The fiery explosions illuminated the battlefield as Terry continued his relentless assault. He managed to take down a significant number of foes, leaving them in disarray. However, as the last of the monsters managed to escape, Terry finally succumbed to exhaustion, collapsing onto the ground, sitting on his butt.
The relentless killing had indeed accelerated the healing process of Terry’s weapon, bringing it closer to reaching the coveted level one hundred. However, this enhancement did little to alleviate the profound exhaustion that gripped his body. It wasn’t just the ceaseless movement that had drained him; it was the relentless punishment he had endured, the relentless attacks that had left him battered and bruised. His stamina was slow to recover, and he knew he needed more time to recuperate fully.
