Only My Weapons Level UP
Chapter 211: Replica
With each passing trial, Terry grew stronger, honing his skills and amassing power. He knew that eventually, he would become a force to be reckoned with. And when the time was right, he would make a lasting impression on this strange world, leaving an indelible memory in the minds of those who crossed his path and those who were watching him.
As Terry continued through the dense forest, he was met with a sight that was both surprising and perplexing. Emerging from the lush greenery, he stumbled upon a massive city, unlike anything he had seen in this otherworldly realm. The city was a stark contrast to the natural surroundings, entirely constructed of gleaming metal.
The structures stretched skyward, their surfaces reflecting the ambient light with a metallic sheen. The city’s layout appeared intricate and organized. Yet, the eerie silence that enveloped the metallic city now spoke of desolation and abandonment.
As Terry explored the enigmatic metallic city, he couldn’t shake the eerie feeling that hung heavily in the air. The place seemed to exist in a state of timelessness, as if it were untouched by the passage of centuries. Despite its apparent abandonment, not a single inch of the city had succumbed to the encroaching forces of nature.
The buildings, towering and impressive, loomed overhead with a quiet, almost menacing presence. Their surfaces, constructed from an otherworldly alloy, reflected a faint, otherworldly light that cast strange, dancing shadows. Even though there were no signs of life, the city seemed to pulse with an undeniable energy, as though it were alive in some unfathomable way.
Every step Terry took echoed in the emptiness, amplifying the eerie solitude that enveloped the metallic city. The absence of plant life, of overgrown vines and creeping foliage, defied the natural order, making the scene even more unsettling. It was as if this place had emerged from the very fabric of the otherworld, immune to the passage of time and untouched by the forces of decay.
Terry’s past encounters with advanced civilizations, filled with giant robots and monstrous beings, had left him with haunting memories. As he navigated the eerie, silent streets of the metallic city, he couldn’t help but wish that he wouldn’t stumble upon any more of those nightmarish creations. The scars from those battles, both physical and psychological, still weighed heavily on him.
As Terry continued his cautious exploration of the metallic city, he suddenly felt the ground beneath him begin to tremble. Startled, he came to a halt and watched in disbelief as a humanoid figure emerged from the ground.
This creature was unlike anything he had ever encountered. It seemed to be composed of some kind of metallic liquid that shifted and flowed like quicksilver. As Terry observed in astonishment, the liquid-metal entity began to take on his own form, mimicking his appearance and even replicating his clothing down to the smallest detail.
The uncanny mimicry sent a shiver down Terry’s spine. He couldn’t fathom what purpose this entity served or why it had assumed his likeness. Was it a creation of the advanced civilization that once inhabited this city? Or was it something far more enigmatic and mysterious?
"What the actual fuck..." Terry furrowed his eyebrows.
The monster tried to make a copy of Terry’s sword, but the weapon didn’t emit the same aura. Regardless, the creature soon dashed toward Terry with its dead eyes. Without hesitation, Terry swung down his sword and cleaved the creature into two.
As Terry watched with a mixture of curiosity and caution, the metallic mimic entity began to dissolve, its liquid-metal form slowly melding back into the ground. It was a bizarre sight, almost as if the creature had never truly existed, to begin with. The liquid-metal substance seeped back into the city’s surface, disappearing into the very ground from which it had emerged.
Terry’s sharp senses picked up on something intriguing. It appeared that as the creature dissolved and was absorbed by the city, he could sense a slight increase in his own power, as though he had absorbed some of the creature’s essence. It was a puzzling development, and Terry couldn’t help but wonder if there was more to this city than met the eye.
"What the hell was that..." Terry said while looking around.
As Bruce surveyed his surroundings, he noticed that nothing out of the ordinary seemed to be happening. With no immediate signs of danger or significant developments, he decided that it was best to proceed with his current course of action.
Terry’s keen eyesight didn’t go unnoticed as he spotted a massive cylindrical structure ahead. It stood as the largest building in the immediate area, catching his attention and piqued his curiosity. Given its size and prominence, Terry decided that it was worth investigating, as there was a strong possibility that this imposing structure held valuable secrets or resources waiting to be discovered.
As Terry continued his exploration, covering a distance of approximately one hundred meters, he suddenly felt the ground beneath him tremble once more. This phenomenon was becoming all too familiar. Within moments, a duplicate of Terry materialized before him, albeit slightly taller than his original form.
Terry, not one to take such bizarre occurrences lightly, swiftly assumed a defensive stance in response to the inexplicable appearance of his taller duplicate. He couldn’t shake the feeling that something was amiss, and his instincts urged him to be prepared for anything.
In his confusion, Terry reasoned that if this was an attempt to intimidate or frighten him, the creator could have conjured something more menacing than a mere duplicate of himself. Nonetheless, the copy mirrored Terry’s cautious demeanor, raising its guard but refraining from making any overt moves or attacks, leaving the situation shrouded in uncertainty.
Terry, growing increasingly frustrated with the enigmatic copy’s mimicry, decided to take action. He swiftly moved to the side, and much to his exasperation, the creature followed suit with uncanny precision. Clicking his tongue in annoyance, Terry couldn’t help but feel like he was dealing with an incredibly irritating foe.
With determination, Terry dashed forward and swung his sword downward, emulating the move that had served him well against this type of monster before. However, this time, the creature demonstrated a surprising adaptation, modifying its own sword to be shorter but thicker, effectively blocking Terry’s attack. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
Not one to be outsmarted, Terry acted swiftly. He squinted his eyes and followed it up with a powerful kick to the monster’s stomach. Then, with remarkable speed and precision, he transformed his weapon into a crossbow and unleashed a deadly bolt that exploded the creature’s head before it could react or counter.
As Terry’s decisive blow struck, the enigmatic monster underwent a startling transformation. It shifted into a shimmering pool of liquid metal, its form disintegrating into a silvery amalgamation. Without warning, this metallic substance was absorbed by the city’s surroundings, as if the very streets and structures hungered for the peculiar entity. The once-present creature was now absorbed by the city.
"What the heck is going on... am I facing some sort of Bot or AI?" Terry thought.
Terry couldn’t help but ponder the eerie similarity between the enigmatic creature he had just encountered and the stories he had heard from the past. Legends of a time when humans could create extraordinary things known as "programs" that possessed the ability to adapt, learn from their mistakes, and find innovative solutions to problems.
The likeness was uncanny, and Terry couldn’t shake the feeling that he had just confronted a construct akin to those ancient tales, a living puzzle with an uncanny capacity for adaptation and mimicry.
As Terry cautiously pressed on through the unsettling cityscape, he came upon yet another baffling encounter. Before him stood a towering, 2.2-meter-tall doppelganger of himself. The creature bore an eerie resemblance to Terry, mirroring his every move with an unsettling precision.
In an alarming twist, the doppelganger conjured a crossbow, mirroring Terry’s actions, and aimed it directly at his head. The familiarity of this situation sent a shiver down Terry’s spine, as he realized that sword strikes alone would be futile against this formidable foe. It seemed that his usual tactics would soon be used against him by this enigmatic adversary, leaving him with a daunting challenge to overcome.
Terry found himself trapped in a disconcerting cycle of encountering increasingly formidable duplicates of himself. The unnerving pattern repeated itself several times, with each new iteration of the enemy growing larger and more imposing than the last.
It became painfully clear to Terry that these creatures weren’t merely mimicking his movements, but they were also learning from his actions and adapting with each encounter. As if that weren’t daunting enough, the massive size of these duplicates presented an added layer of challenge, making them even more formidable adversaries.
With each confrontation, Terry’s initial advantage dwindled, and the sense of unease grew exponentially. It was becoming apparent that he was facing a relentless and evolving adversary, one that posed a unique and growing threat with every encounter.
