Only My Weapons Level UP
Chapter 91: Spearheading
"Well, it seems that things are ready, and Vanessa said that the other guild masters are already waiting for the meeting," Rebec explained when the final adjustments of the device had been finished.
"All right," Terry nodded. "Let’s make sure that those meetings won’t last forever since I prefer some action instead of talking all the time."
Terry oversaw the entire process of construction in order to avoid problems since the builders were essentially strangers to his guild. Thanks to that, he spent most of the time bored out of his mind. He only hunted sr night to level up the incomplete power armors that his blacksmiths crafted. Still, leveling them up to them had been enough to make a team led by Rebecca and Juan to clear another town in just two days... and only those two had the power armor.
The magic device designed for communication among all the guild masters had a striking and impressive appearance. It resembled a sleek and sophisticated console adorned with intricate engravings and glowing runes that pulsated with magical energy. The device was crafted from a combination of fine metals and enchanted crystals, giving it an air of both elegance and power.
At its core, there was a large crystal panel that served as the focal point for communication. This panel was embedded with numerous smaller crystals, each representing a different guild. These crystals emitted a soft, mesmerizing glow, signifying their connection to the respective guilds.
The console itself featured a series of control knobs, buttons, and touch-sensitive panels. These controls allowed for precise adjustments and customization of communication settings. The device also incorporated a high-definition display capable of showcasing visual data, maps, and important messages.
The device was equipped with advanced magical amplification technology to facilitate seamless communication. It harnessed the inherent power of the magic stones and crystals, enhancing the clarity and range of the transmitted messages. This ensured that the guild masters could communicate with each other across vast distances without any loss of quality.
As the magic device hummed to life, vibrant holographic images materialized in the air, each representing a different guild master. The holograms projected the visages of seasoned leaders, each distinguished by their unique attire, symbols, and presence.
Terry watched as the holographic guild masters appeared one by one, their expressions a mix of curiosity, determination, and anticipation. They stood tall, their looks resonating with authority and wisdom, as they exchanged greetings and discussed some small matters in the meantime.
Some guild masters wore regal robes adorned with symbols of their guild’s specialization, be it magic, weaponry, or trade. Others were clad in practical armor, reflecting their focus on combat and protection. Despite their diverse appearances, they all shared a common purpose—to safeguard their territories, foster prosperity, and face the challenges that threatened their world.
"Thank you for agreeing to participate in this meeting, everyone," Vanessa said. "I am Vanessa, leader of the Chaotic Storm guild, and I have been appointed as the overseer of these meetings. If you don’t mind, I will do my best to keep the meetings organized and civilized."
Vanessa told Terry that he should do that, but he said that it was too much of a pain, so she assumed that role. He wondered why she didn’t do that earlier; with her almost passive personality, she was perfect for the job.
"As you already know, we discovered a lot thanks to the last expedition, and I would like to use this first meeting to talk about which portal we should attempt to close next," Vanessa added. "I am aware that closing all of them will take a while since there are hundreds of them in our country, and some of them are essential for our survival, but there are others that we can immediately close."
Each portal represented a potential threat, a gateway through which dangerous creatures and chaos could emerge.
Some guild masters advocated for closing every portal they encountered, viewing it as a necessary step to secure their lands and restore peace. Others argued for a more cautious approach, considering the potential benefits that certain portals might offer, such as access to valuable resources or new knowledge.
Terry listened intently to the discourse, absorbing the different viewpoints. He weighed the risks and rewards, contemplating the implications of each decision. It was a complex matter, as closing a portal meant sealing off a potential avenue for danger. Still, it also meant forfeiting any potential advantages it might hold.
Meanwhile, the members of the group who had fought alongside Terry in the previous mission talked with him, their expressions a mix of determination and respect. They acknowledged Terry’s leadership and the indomitable spirit he had displayed during their perilous encounter. Their voices were unanimous as they voiced their desire for Terry to lead the attack group, embarking on the dangerous mission of closing the portals.
Strangely enough, no one tried to be against that... Terry felt suspicious about it. Still, he heard from Vanessa earlier that the other guild masters that participated in the last mission had a lot of connections, and they spread information about what happened while trying to convince the others to trust Terry. He didn’t like that since it was unnerving when someone agreed with his actions independently of the results.
"I don’t mind that, but since I will be spearheading ahead, then I will expect to get a lot of benefits from the missions as well," Terry declared, and no one was against that either.
As the guild masters continued their discussion, they debated which portal should be their top priority due to the interference and complications it caused in their territories. The arguments grew heated as each guild master advocated for their own concerns and interests.
One guild master passionately argued for closing a nearby portal that disrupted their trade routes, emphasizing its negative economic impact on their region. Another guild master raised concerns about a portal encroaching upon their farmlands, threatening food production and the well-being of their people.
