Only My Weapons Level UP
Chapter 98: Hit and run
The houses and structures within the dome showcased a blend of modern and rustic designs, combining functionality with natural aesthetics. Wooden cabins with sturdy roofs coexisted with more contemporary structures made of metal and glass, creating a harmonious balance between tradition and innovation.
Lush greenery thrived within the dome, with carefully tended gardens and parks scattered throughout the town. Vibrant flowers bloomed in a riot of colors, their petals untouched by the biting cold of the Canadian winter. Towering trees provided shade and a sense of tranquility, their branches swaying gently in the breeze.
Within the fortified town, the people of the Canadian guild worked tirelessly to construct an array of traps and tools specifically designed to combat the trolls that threatened their territory. The sound of hammers, saws, and the clinking of metal resonated throughout the town as they crafted their ingenious creations.
In workshops and makeshift laboratories, skilled craftsmen and engineers toiled away, utilizing their expertise to develop an arsenal of defensive mechanisms. They fashioned sturdy barricades made from reinforced wood and metal, capable of withstanding the brute force of the trolls’ onslaught. These barriers were strategically positioned to funnel and control the trolls’ movements, allowing the guild members to engage them more effectively.
Traps were meticulously crafted, each one tailored to exploit the trolls’ weaknesses. Spiked pitfalls were dug into the ground, concealed with camouflage to lure unsuspecting trolls into their perilous depths. Massive nets were woven, ready to be unleashed to ensnare and immobilize the lumbering beasts. Projectile-based contraptions were ingeniously designed to launch projectiles infused with magic or coated with potent toxins, incapacitating the trolls upon impact.
In the base of the Canadian guild, the skilled craftsmen and artisans worked diligently to forge weapons and tools capable of countering the trolls’ incredible regenerative abilities. These specialized creations were designed to exploit the trolls’ weaknesses and hinder their rapid healing process.
One such weapon was the Frostbite Blade, a sword infused with ancient ice magic. Its blade, crafted from a rare alloy infused with cryogenic properties, could freeze the wounds inflicted on the trolls, inhibiting their regenerative capabilities. Each strike from the Frostbite Blade left a trail of frost, encasing the trolls’ wounds in a layer of icy confinement.
Another formidable weapon was the Venomous Pike, a spear embedded with venomous glands harvested from deadly serpents. The spearhead was intricately designed to release potent toxins upon piercing the trolls’ flesh, disrupting their regenerative abilities and causing their wounds to fester. The venomous nature of the weapon ensured that the trolls’ healing mechanisms were overwhelmed, leaving them vulnerable to further attacks.
"You guys have been doing some interesting work here," Terry said. "And I thought that I was nasty... I guess the trolls must be poor neighbors."
Putting his jokes aside, Terry truly was impressed with the work being done there. He needed to experiment more with his powers and that kind of weapon would be a good test subject.
The messengers led the group to a towering structure that stood prominently amidst the town. It was a sight to behold, a testament to the power of Earth magic. The building appeared as if it had been sculpted from solid stone, its majestic facade displaying intricate carvings and rugged textures.
The structure rose high into the sky, with multiple levels and sturdy walls that exuded an air of strength and fortitude. The surface of the building, resembling various types of stone, showcased a range of hues, from warm earthy tones to deep, rich grays. It seemed as though the very essence of the earth had been harnessed to shape this magnificent edifice.
Before they could enter the building, a guy left the place and headed toward them. It seemed that he was the guild master of the place. The man had a distinguished salt-and-pepper hair. He exuded a sense of maturity and sophistication. He also had a chiseled jawline and well-groomed facial hair, adding to his rugged yet refined appearance.
"Thank you for coming, friends," The man said. "My name is George, and I am the guild master of the Snow Guardians. It is nice to meet you all."
George sure was all smiles considering that he didn’t even come to receive them at the airport. Vanessa decided to greet the man since Terry just crossed his arms.
"Nice to meet you," Vanessa said while offering a handshake. "My apologies, Mr. George, but I think we should head straight to business since time is of the essence, and we can’t leave our country alone for too long. Tell us what you know about the location of the portal and what we will find inside."
"Certainly, I can give the details about where the portal is, but I can’t tell what is on the other side. The reason for that is the fact that we never had the chance to cross the portal," George explained. "Those beasts appeared out of nowhere and kept a low profile for weeks until their first dungeon break happened. When that happened, we took notice of them, but they already had a community of them guarding the portal and a pretty strong base as well. The dungeon broke again a few days ago, and now they have one thousand of them defending the base and many more looking for humans and other enemies in the area. The more they expand, the more they affect the weather conditions."
As Terry contemplated the daunting battle ahead, he couldn’t help but imagine the immense challenge of facing thousands of trolls. Realizing the odds stacked against them, he knew that a head-on confrontation would be futile. Instead, he envisioned a more tactical approach, one that involved striking quickly and retreating before the trolls could respond.
Understanding the trolls’ rapid regenerative abilities, Terry knew that a prolonged fight would only work in their favor. So, he focused on hit-and-run tactics, where his group would launch swift and precise attacks, aiming for vulnerable spots, and then swiftly withdraw to avoid counterattacks. By employing this strategy, they could gradually wear down the trolls over time.
