Chapter 992: The Final Stand
Amid Little Vlad's terrified gaze and curses, Du Guangyuan put on rubber gloves and picked up the surgical tools on the table, walking leisurely towards her. Ignoring the desperate anger that could swallow him alive, he gently cut a wound on her arm with a scalpel, then slowly injected a liquid into it.
"Is it done?" Pei Yan returned with a chicken leg in his mouth and a beer in his hand, casually asking as he saw Du Guangyuan return to his position.
"It's done, we just need to wait a little while for it to take effect! If last time made her blood boil, this time it's an inhibitor for her bloodline. While the previous toxin is still present in her body, the interaction between the two agents will have a violent reaction. Her blood will alternately feel like it's burning in a blaze or plunging into an icy hell. You might think such a pain is bearable for someone with supernatural abilities, but when combined with blood toxins erupting inside, the agony surpasses mere physical torment, enough to destroy her will under repeated assault." Du Guangyuan stood beside Pei Yan and respectfully responded.
Listening to this explanation and imagining the torment Little Vlad was about to endure, even as a bystander, Pei Yan couldn't help but shiver. He looked back at Du Guangyuan in confusion and asked, "How did you figure out these things? According to them, you're considered a blood servant among their Blood Race, yet you managed to research ways to counter their upper-level Blood Race."
In response to this question, Du Guangyuan laughed while taking off his gloves and said with a bitter smile, "I just eavesdropped on your conversation. You have a significant grudge against this family too, don't you? At least, it's that way for you, right?"
"More or less." Pei Yan took a sip of beer, seeing no need to hide it.
"Then you should understand that once someone has an insurmountable enemy, they either live in depression and agony, constantly in regret, or transform that hatred into motivation to continuously gain the means to defeat their enemy. Obviously, we belong to the latter." Du Guangyuan said while picking up the unfinished burger from the table and continued while chewing, "My hatred for this family is even longer than yours. Back when I confirmed I had escaped that old guy's surveillance, this journey of revenge began. For decades, even progressing a little each day should yield some results, especially when I have excellent sponsors."
Saying this, he looked at Pei Yan and then at Little Vlad, deliberately stirring the voice translator and speaking in the common language of the Magic Realm with deep meaning, "Regardless of what purpose Divine Desire has, from my perspective, their cooperation with you isn't as perfect and unbreakable as you think. Since I was selected into the Divine Desire Organization, research targeting your Blood Race has been ongoing, and I'm one of them. In this experiment, I'm both the experimenter and the test subject. Some of your lower-grade kinsmen and I have endured the pain you are now suffering. It's precisely because of this that we could, in such a short time, achieve so many products surpassing their original dimensions by combining the magic from various planes. Your Blood Race is just the tip of the iceberg of these numerous test subjects." πππ¦β―πΈπ¦ππππ·β―π.πππ
Du Guangyuan's words not only struck Little Vlad, who was tied to the wall, but also gave Pei Yan and the others a new understanding of Divine Desire. Their early secret operations greedily digesting knowledge, bloodlines, and power from various planes, what exactly are these people trying to achieve remains a mystery.
As Pei Yan was deep in thought, the toxins inside Little Vlad, hanging on the wall, began to react. Her skin turned alternately crimson and pale white, and she struggled within the fixed iron rings, letting out unsettling, gut-wrenching wails.
"Pei Yan, you demon! You're a true demon! Kill me! Kill me now! Don't make me endure this torture any longer! Even if you pity your enemy, just kill me! You coward!"
Pei Yan ignored Little Vlad's curses and stepped forward, coldly asking, "Tell me about your cooperation with Blood Shriek, and I'll spare you from this pain."
"I don't know, I really don't know!" Little Vlad's teeth clenched audibly, mounting her final resistance.
"Then continue to endure."
Pei Yan said, continuing to observe Little Vlad's twisting, painful expression. She tried to slam her head against the wall to knock herself unconscious, but the iron shackle held her head firmly against the iron wall, giving her no chance. She wanted to bite through her tongue, but as the thought arose, her teeth were intercepted by a mechanical arm stretching from the side, forcibly dislocating her jaw.
Blood and saliva flowed uncontrollably from her tongue, bitten through, out of her gaping mouth. Little Vlad's miserable state prompted those in the room who hated her to look away, awaiting the event's final outcome.
"Oh, ah, ah, ah!" Little Vlad shook her head, making meaningless sounds from her mouth, as if seeking help. Pei Yan stepped forward, pressed her wrist against her jaw, and popped it back into place, then said, "Ready to talk now?"
"Even if I tell you, you'll eventually kill me, won't you? So what meaning does it have if I say anything?" Little Vlad spoke weakly, barely intelligible.
"Nothing is certain yet, and you don't have to die." Pei Yan hesitated for a long time before offering a noncommittal remark.
Upon hearing this, Little Vlad's eyes, once dimmed by torture, suddenly brightened. After quickly contemplating, she realized her survival likely hinged on the still-living Ye Jiumu. She even felt somewhat fortunate that her father didn't strike him dead back then, leaving her a bargaining chip for negotiation.
"Alright, I'll talk! Release me, stop this damn punishment, stop it! Quick!" Realizing there was still hope for survival, Little Vlad finally decided to betray her family's interests in exchange for her life, her body and spirit already broken, persistently urging Pei Yan to end her torment.
Without needing Pei Yan's command, the perceptive Du Guangyuan stepped forward and injected two more shots into Little Vlad. With the injection, Little Vlad's contorted face immediately softened, her tense body limply relaxed like mud, and she let out a long, comfortable sigh.
Pei Yan snapped his fingers, causing Little Vlad's restraints to disappear. Watching her slump to the ground, he asked, "Speak up, tell me the answer I want to hear."
"I'm not lying to you; what I said is genuinely most of the things my father collaborated with Blood Shriek on, and many of these matters were handled by me."
