Chloe Reed glanced at him, her clear eyes cool. "Did I make you wait?"

But Walker Grant walked right up to her. "Let’s talk about the earthquake."

Chloe Reed’s expression instantly soured. She stared at him intently. "What do you mean? You don’t believe me?"

Walker Grant glanced at the property manager. "You can leave."

The property manager nodded profusely. "Yes, of course..."

Then, he turned to her. "Shall we talk inside?"

Chloe Reed’s lips were pressed into a thin line. With a dark expression, she opened the door, a feeling of betrayal welling up inside her.

But then, she couldn’t help but think, ’Sunny Reed really holds a high place in his heart. He believes whatever she says.’

Hah!

After opening the door, she walked in with a grim face, sat on the sofa, and watched him coldly.

Walker Grant took out his phone and played a video for her.

The video was a recording Dylan Finch had made with a witness during his investigation. In it, the witness recalled the scene of the earthquake. Dylan Finch handed him two photos. The man studied them, his expression pensive as he tried to remember. After a long moment, he hesitantly pointed to Sunny Reed’s picture.

"Things were so chaotic then, but I remember a girl rushing back to pull a boy out from under a slab of stone. The situation was critical, and I was terrified, but that memory is seared into my mind."

"Impossible!"

Chloe Reed clutched the phone, her expression twisting as she denied it.

She looked at Walker Grant. "Sunny Reed must have hired this person to lie. There’s nothing she wouldn’t do to get what she wants, is there?"

Walker Grant sat diagonally across from her, his dark, heavy gaze fixed on her face. "I had it investigated. This man doesn’t know Sunny Reed, and there’s been no financial exchange between them."

Chloe Reed’s knuckles turned white as she gripped the phone, her gaze wavering. "So, you think I lied to you? That I used this to get close to you on purpose?"

Walker Grant said nothing, only watching her with that same heavy gaze.

’My heart had already gone numb.’

But now, looking into his eyes, that long-forgotten, suffocating feeling surfaced once more.

’He was... doubting her love for him.’

The moment this realization struck her, she threw the phone straight at his face.

Walker Grant raised a hand and caught it effortlessly.

"Get out!"

Chloe Reed shot to her feet, pointing at the door, her voice trembling.

Walker Grant looked up slightly, regarding her with a hint of surprise. "You’re the one who lied to me. What are you so angry about?"

Those words seemed to shatter her last line of defense. She rushed over, grabbed his arm, and started pushing him toward the door.

"Fine! If you say I lied, then I lied! Perfect. Let’s get a divorce. I never want to see you again!"

But Walker Grant didn’t move. He simply caught her wrist, yanking her into his lap. His large hand clamped down on her waist, holding her fast.

"Since you admit you lied to me, how could I possibly let you off so easily? Chloe, we’ve been together for eight years. You know what I’m like," Walker Grant said, his low voice deliberate. His handsome face remained unreadable.

Chloe Reed’s eyes widened. "What do you mean?"

Walker Grant leaned closer, his eyes darkening. "You’ve deceived me for eight years. Don’t you think I should get that time back? You want a divorce? Then I can’t let you have your wish. That’s what revenge is, isn’t it?"

"You bastard!"

Chloe Reed finally snapped, swinging her hand at his face.

But as if he had anticipated her move, he caught her wrist and twisted her arm behind her back.
