Our Anniversary, You Chose Her – I Chose Divorce
Chapter 122: If Only You Were Our Real Daughter
The two exchanged a look, an unreadable emotion flickering in their eyes.
Charles Reed said, "Sunny, this is nothing. You’ve come into our home, so it’s only natural for us to treat you well. Don’t trouble yourself with all sorts of worries. It doesn’t matter if you don’t know how to run a business; I’ll just find someone to manage the company for you. Go ahead and sign."
Autumn Linton chimed in from the side, "That’s right. Noah is growing up every day; you can’t just watch over him forever. You need to have your own life, and this will give you some security."
Sunny Reed was deeply moved. "Dad, Mom, you’re so good to me."
She reached up to wipe the corner of her eye and said, "But really, there’s no need. I’m already very content with everything I have. I don’t want to cause any trouble for you over this, so please stop trying to convince me. I won’t sign it."
"Oh, Sunny, you’re so considerate. It just breaks my heart," Autumn Linton said, grasping her hand, her eyes filled with pity and affection.
Charles Reed added, "If only you were our biological daughter."
"Heh."
The mocking laugh came from Chloe Reed, who had been watching the entire performance from the sidelines.
"So fake."
After saying that, she turned and walked straight out.
"That damn brat!"
Charles Reed watched her leave, his brow furrowed in displeasure.
Autumn Linton sighed and said, "Sunny, your sister is just spoiled rotten by us. If she does anything to bully you, I’ll apologize on her behalf. Please don’t be mad at her, alright?" 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
Sunny Reed lowered her gaze. "I’m not angry. She’s my sister."
Autumn Linton smiled, relieved. "Good, such a good girl."
...
Chloe Reed was in a good mood.
’I got my shares, and Sunny Reed didn’t get any money from the Reed family. I don’t know why she refused, but this is great news!’
When she got to the office, she went straight to the recording studio. She spent the better part of the day in there, not coming out until she was almost completely drained.
She was sitting at her desk reading through the rest of a script when she got a call from Iris Yates.
"Chloe, your wedding ring was bought by a mysterious buyer," Iris Yates said, getting straight to the point.
Chloe Reed hummed in acknowledgment. "How much did it sell for?"
Iris Yates said, "Three hundred and fifty million. That’s fifty million more than when that damn scumbag bought it for you. Is this mysterious buyer out of their mind? Buying a secondhand wedding ring? As a collector’s item? But it doesn’t even have much collector’s value."
Chloe Reed agreed completely. "Probably someone with more money than sense."
Iris Yates laughed. "But that’s not important. You’re a rich woman now! So what’s next on the agenda? When is that scumbag finally going to divorce you?"
Chloe Reed sighed. "He said I deceived him, so he won’t agree to a divorce."
"What? What else happened?" Iris Yates asked anxiously.
So Chloe Reed told her about how she had been the one to rescue him during the earthquake all those years ago.
After hearing the story, Iris Yates couldn’t help but start swearing. "What the hell? Why is that bitch involved in everything? Is she deliberately trying to mess with you? Does she only get happy when she sees you miserable?"
Chloe Reed looked down. "Walker Grant found evidence proving that what she said was true."
"Then we can find our own evidence!" Iris Yates declared at once. "There were so many people there. Someone must have seen you rescue him! We’ll find our own witnesses, and then we’ll see who that damn scumbag chooses to believe."
Chloe Reed hesitated. "But can we really find anyone?"
