Our Anniversary, You Chose Her – I Chose Divorce
Chapter 125: How Did He Seduce You?
Miles Hawthorne’s gaze landed on her face, and a faint, unreadable smile played on his lips. "So, do you want me to help her or not?"
Sunny Reed smiled, her expression a picture of innocence. "I’m just concerned about my sister. Don’t read too much into it."
"Oh, so that’s how it is." Miles Hawthorne nodded as if in realization, then said, "In that case, I have no comment."
Sunny Reed didn’t get angry. She just watched him for a moment before saying abruptly, "The truth is, you like my sister too, don’t you?"
Miles Hawthorne’s expression remained unchanged as he went back to eating his meal.
Sunny Reed pulled Noah Grant closer, placing some food on his plate as she continued, "She’s so vibrant and cheerful, like a little ray of sunshine. She’s also got a big heart and is fiercely loyal. Who could meet her and not like her?"
Miles Hawthorne remained silent.
Sunny Reed began to feel awkward. She took another look at Miles Hawthorne. He was cold and distant with her, yet he had been all smiles for Chloe Reed.
The difference in treatment was like night and day.
Sunny Reed’s expression darkened bit by bit.
...
Chloe Reed had just stepped out of the restaurant and was about to get into a taxi when someone grabbed her by the wrist.
She whipped her head around and found herself staring into Walker Grant’s dark, glacial eyes.
"What are you doing?"
Frowning, she struggled to break free.
Walker Grant’s voice was low and heavy as he demanded, "What were you and he discussing?"
"It’s none of your business," Chloe Reed said impatiently. "Let me go."
"I’m your husband. You’re out alone, having dinner with another man and discussing business. Don’t I have a right to be concerned?" Walker Grant yanked her in front of him. "Chloe, we aren’t divorced yet."
Chloe Reed looked at him and gave a scornful laugh. "What’s wrong? Afraid I’ll fall for someone else?"
Walker Grant’s expression grew even darker. "You wouldn’t dare."
"You did it, so why can’t I?!" Chloe Reed’s limpid eyes were cold. "This just makes us even. Isn’t it a huge double standard for you to get angry?"
Walker Grant stared at her, his expression grim, before suddenly dragging her back toward the restaurant.
His entire demeanor shifted, becoming sharp and violent. His gaze grew more piercing, naked fury surfacing within it.
He looked like he was out for blood.
Chloe Reed didn’t want to go with him. "Let go of me! Have you lost your damn mind!"
"I’m going to go ask Miles Hawthorne just how he seduced you, how he made you fall for him," Walker Grant said, his voice chillingly deep and heavy.
Chloe Reed was utterly speechless!
’He’ll believe anything I say?!’
’So then why didn’t he believe me when I told him I saved him during the earthquake? Why did he feel the need to go investigate it himself?’
"Walker Grant, will you ever stop!"
She finally roared.
Walker Grant froze. They stood there on the side of the road, their frozen standoff and loud argument causing passersby to turn and stare.
Walker Grant’s dark eyes bore into her. Suddenly, his lips curled into a smile. "It’s never over. We have a whole lifetime. This won’t be over until the day we die."
He stopped walking toward the restaurant, instead turning to the car parked at the curb. He yanked open the passenger door and shoved her inside.
Chloe Reed’s struggles and frantic slaps were useless. Her face was a mask of fury. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢
Then, her eyes fell upon a red velvet box on the center console. It was small, the kind that might hold a ring or a pair of earrings.
But the box looked incredibly familiar.
’It looked just like the box that held her wedding ring.’
’Iris Yates had said a mysterious buyer purchased the wedding ring.’
’So... the mysterious buyer was Walker Grant?’
’He’d spent three hundred million at auction for this ring back then, and now he spent another three hundred and fifty million to buy it back.’
’Was he just trying to show off how much money he had to burn?’
