Our Anniversary, You Chose Her – I Chose Divorce
Chapter 321: Chloe, Why Are You Ignoring Me?
A photograph of a young man was on the tombstone. His features were well-defined and sharp, and his eyes and brow bore a slight resemblance to Walker Grant’s. His bright, spirited eyes stared straight ahead.
Chloe Reed placed the flowers she was holding at the base of the stone. After bowing three times, she said softly, "Brother, I’m here to see you."
The people beside her turned to look, but one gaze was more intense than all the others.
Judith Pierce took her hand, her voice still thick with unshed tears. "Dear child, please don’t go today. Come home and have a meal with us."
Chloe Reed lowered her gaze and didn’t refuse.
They stayed for a while longer before finally leaving the cemetery.
The car was already waiting outside. Judith Pierce, still holding Chloe Reed’s hand, led her into one of the cars.
When Walker Grant tried to get in, Judith Pierce said, "Chloe and I have things to discuss. You can ride in the other car."
There were two cars, and Sunny Reed was already in the second one. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
Walker Grant’s sharp brows furrowed. His dark, intense eyes fixed on Chloe Reed; his gaze hadn’t left her since she arrived.
But she hadn’t looked at him once.
His expression darkened. He yanked open the passenger-side door and said coolly, "Is there something I’m not allowed to hear?"
Judith Pierce frowned. "You rascal. Chloe and I are going to have a private, woman-to-woman chat. Do you really need to listen in?"
"I do," Walker replied.
Judith Pierce was speechless.
Once they were all in, the driver started the car and headed for the Grant Family Estate.
Chloe Reed looked at Judith Pierce and asked, "Why didn’t you bring Noah Grant?"
"He’s still too young," Walker Grant interjected. "We’ll tell him about it when he’s a little older."
Chloe Reed’s brow furrowed slightly, but she didn’t respond.
Judith Pierce shot Walker a glare. "See? Chloe doesn’t even want to talk to you. Why are you butting in? Are you just looking to be ignored?"
"Mom, have you forgotten what you promised me?" Walker Grant asked calmly.
But Judith Pierce retorted, "I was about to, but you just had to force your way in here. Now it’s awkward."
Walker Grant fell silent.
The atmosphere in the car turned frigid.
She wasn’t curious about the riddles this mother and son were trading. Looking out the window, she felt perfectly calm.
’Something is bound to happen today.’
’Perhaps, after today is over, she and Walker Grant won’t even have to wait for the court date. They could finalize the divorce directly.’
’That would be for the best.’
...
The car soon arrived at the Grant Family Estate. It was a special day, so the servants were all somber and unsmiling, and the atmosphere was solemn.
Noah Grant, who was with his nanny, had been staring eagerly at the entrance. The moment he saw them return, he struggled out of the nanny’s arms and ran over.
"Mommy! Uncle Walker!"
Sunny Reed leaned down to pick Noah up. She kissed his small cheek, and tears suddenly began to fall.
"Mommy, don’t cry."
Noah Grant quickly wiped away her tears. "Don’t cry."
Judith Pierce added, "Don’t cry in front of the boy. You’ll make him worry."
Sunny Reed nodded. "I know, Mom."
She carried Noah Grant and hurried inside, but Noah looked back at Walker Grant. "Uncle Walker, come on."
Walker Grant said quietly, "Let your mommy stay with you."
He walked straight to Chloe Reed’s side and grabbed her hand. "Chloe, why are you ignoring me?"
Chloe Reed faltered, her gaze dropping to his long, elegant fingers clasped around her wrist. Then, she slowly looked up at his face.
"Then why did you hide what happened during the earthquake?"
