Our Anniversary, You Chose Her – I Chose Divorce
Chapter 67: You Scumbag, You’re Working Part-time Here?
Chloe Reed looked indifferent. "Why would I hold a grudge? The ten million has already been deposited, and I’m not one to argue with money."
Autumn Linton watched her with a complicated look in her eyes. "How about coming home for dinner tonight? You haven’t been back in a long time."
"No." Chloe Reed refused outright. "Going back would only make you angry. It’s better if I don’t."
Autumn Linton’s expression grew even more troubled. "Chloe, you say you’re not holding a grudge, but this sounds exactly like you resent us."
Chloe Reed watched her quietly for a moment before speaking. "Mom, as the biological daughter of the Reed family, after everything I’ve been through, don’t I have a right to be resentful?"
Autumn Linton was speechless.
Chloe Reed turned and gazed into the distance, her eyes becoming unfocused. "Let’s just maintain this superficial peace," she said faintly. "Don’t ask for too much, or we’ll both just end up disappointed."
With that said, she turned and got in the car.
Autumn Linton stood frozen, watching her with an incredibly complex expression.
Chloe Reed, however, didn’t look back at her. Instead, she said to Iris Yates, "Let’s go."
After they had driven some distance, Iris Yates glanced at her. "Chloe, are you okay?"
Chloe Reed gave a nonchalant smile. "I got used to it a long time ago."
Ever since she realized her parents favored Sunny Reed, she had gradually numbed herself to it, learning not to get her hopes up.
Iris Yates’s heart ached for her. Squeezing her hand, she said, "Today is a day to be happy! Not only did you get your job back, but you also got ten million. You’re getting richer by the minute! We have to celebrate."
Chloe Reed nodded. "Alright. How do you want to celebrate?"
Iris Yates giggled mischievously. "We’ll eat, we’ll drink, and then we’ll order eight male models!"
"Deal!"
The two friends went out for a joyful meal, then headed to a foot massage parlor. As soon as they entered, Chloe Reed announced, "We want your most handsome technicians."
The owner chuckled and nodded. "You got it. If you’ll just head to your private room and wait, they’ll be right with you."
Iris Yates leaned in and whispered in her ear, "I’ve been here before. The massage therapists are seriously skilled, and they’re super handsome. You get to pick first."
Chloe Reed nodded enthusiastically as the two of them headed toward the private room.
Just as they walked past, the door to the adjacent private room opened.
Nathaniel Monroe stood inside, dumbfounded. He whipped out his phone and called Walker Grant.
"Walker, get over here, quick! We’ve got a situation!"
Walker Grant had just gotten Noah Grant to sleep and was standing outside the hospital room to take the call. Hearing this, he frowned. "What’s wrong?"
Nathaniel Monroe covered his mouth and whispered, "Your wife is out ordering technicians! She even asked for the most handsome ones. You have to get here now, she’s cheating on you!"
Walker Grant gritted his teeth. "Address!"
...
The service at this massage parlor was quite thoughtful. The technicians hadn’t arrived yet, but a platter of fruit was brought in first.
They changed their clothes and were lounging comfortably, eating fruit.
Just then, the door to the private room opened, and two technicians walked in.
Iris Yates said, "Chloe, my dear, hurry and pick. They’re here."
Chloe Reed glanced up. The moment she saw one of them, her brows instantly knitted together.
"What are you doing here?" 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
"Who?" Iris Yates looked up at the question, then gasped. "You damn scumbag, when did you start moonlighting here?"
Walker Grant wore a white shirt, his suit jacket slung casually over one shoulder. He stood right in front of Chloe Reed’s massage bed, his almond-shaped eyes staring darkly at her.
"I was just hired. Is the lady satisfied with me?" he asked, his words dripping with ice.
