The girl had soft, beautiful features. Her large, bright eyes looked straight at the camera. At a glance, you could tell she was the type that elders would adore.

For some reason, Chloe Reed felt a bitter pang in her heart.

But then she remembered her deal with Judith Pierce.

If Walker Grant and this girl hit it off, she could finally get her divorce.

Chloe Reed took a deep breath, trying to calm herself.

Chloe Reed: [She’s very nice.]

Judith Pierce: [Then you can help me introduce her to Walker this weekend.]

Chloe Reed: [Okay.]

After replying, she put her phone aside and went back to her script, but she found she couldn’t focus on a single word.

So, she changed into her workout clothes and went to the gym.

As sweat poured off her, it felt like the frustration in her heart was being flung away with it.

Once she was exhausted, she took a shower and went to bed, pushing the whole matter out of her mind.

But just as she was drifting off, she heard a knock at the door.

She glanced at the time. It was already one in the morning.

She frowned, got up, and checked the door, where she saw who it was.

Walker Grant.

He stood at the door with his eyes lowered, raising his hand to knock.

When he got no response, he knocked a couple more times.

Chloe Reed just watched him, not moving for a long time.

The frustration she’d worked so hard to get rid of seemed to come rushing back, and her hands clenched into fists.

She took a deep breath, pressed the button on the video intercom, and said, "I need to sleep even if you don’t! Go away!"

Walker Grant’s knocking paused. Then he said, "Let me in. I’m tired."

"Get lost."

"Chloe, let me in."

"..."

She didn’t say anything else, so he just kept repeating, "Let me in."

Chloe Reed found her earplugs, blocked out the sound, and pulled the covers over her head to go back to sleep.

But after all his racket, she was doomed to a restless night.

In her hazy state, she heard a rustling sound from the door.

Utterly annoyed, she threw off the covers and got out of bed, only for her eyes to go wide.

"Who are you?!"

Two strangers in matching uniforms were standing at her door, fiddling with the lock.

The two men were also startled to see her.

Just then, Walker Grant poked his head out from behind the door and said, "I called them. They’re locksmiths."

Chloe Reed’s expression turned icy. "Are you insane? Are you the owner of this apartment? Who gave you permission to pick the lock on my door?"

But Walker Grant just produced two marriage certificates and said, "I have these."

Chloe Reed: "..."

’He’s insane!’

’Who carries their marriage certificates around with them?!’

The two locksmiths had already opened the door. They packed up their tools and left.

Walker Grant walked in, strode toward her, and pulled her into a sudden embrace.

As he pressed against her, Chloe Reed caught the stench of alcohol on him.

She pushed him. "Get off me! Let go! You’re filthy!"

But Walker Grant just held her tighter, burying his face in the crook of her neck. "Chloe, I’m tired. Let’s go to sleep."

When he was drunk, his tone was much softer than usual, husky and intimate.

But Chloe Reed was repulsed. "Let go of me! Get out!"

"Not letting go. Not getting out."

Walker Grant continued to hold her tight, his large frame pressing against her, forcing her backward.

Unable to bear his weight, Chloe Reed stumbled backward step by step until the backs of her legs hit the sofa, and he pushed her down onto it.

His heavy body crushed down on her, as if trying to suffocate her.

Chloe Reed’s vision swam. "Get off... I can’t breathe..."
