Our Love Story: Hard to Guard Against the Sudden Love Strike
Chapter 673 - 644: Heartache
Arriving at Mina Thorne’s building, under her persistent invitation, Sienna Thornton went up to their marital home for a bit.
This was her first time visiting the marital home of Seth Sutton and his wife.
The style of the marital home was very girly, with off-white wallpaper and furniture, pink bedding, and wall art—a very straightforward girly vibe.
She couldn’t imagine what it felt like for a big man to live in such a room; even she, as a woman, felt uncomfortable being surrounded by so much pink. Yet Seth Sutton managed to live there.
"Which design company did you hire for this room?" She thought she might suggest avoiding this company if her friends ever needed to redecorate.
Mina Thorne laughed, "Seth and I designed it together."
"Huh?" Sienna Thornton teased, "Your husband looks macho, but inside he’s a little princess."
"At first, he was unwilling, saying he might turn girly if he lived here too long. But I insisted, so he had to agree."
Sienna Thornton laughed heartily, "Then it’s because there’s a little princess like you living in his heart."
.
Coming out from Mina Thorne’s place, Sienna Thornton returned to Fenmore Hill.
Her baby was lying on the playmat playing with the nanny, while Auntie King and Melinda Linton watched from the side.
She greeted everyone, picked up the baby and gave a few kisses, and then went upstairs to change clothes and pump breast milk.
The sound of the electric pump buzzed rhythmically in the master bedroom, and her thoughts drifted back to the afternoon when Joyce Sutton had said something to her.
Joyce Sutton said that Tobias Blackwood intended to have her switch units, but she hadn’t heard anything, so was it Nadia who heard wrong, or was it something they weren’t letting her know yet?
With such doubts, Sienna Thornton waited until nightfall when she had the baby asleep, and then went to the study to find Simon Forrester.
During this period, Simon Forrester would bathe the baby in the evening, while she put the baby to sleep after bathing, and he would shower himself before getting into the study to work, often until around 12 AM before returning to bed. Except for the two nights a week when they spent sweet times together, he would otherwise spend most of the time in the study after showering.
Tonight, he was once again working overtime.
She warmed a glass of his favorite fresh milk downstairs and brought it up.
The study door was open. She was holding the milk in one hand, and knocked on the door with the other, role-playing as Secretary Thornton, "Chairman Forrester, I have a report. May I come in?"
Simon Forrester, who was looking at the computer screen, lifted his face, leaned back into the chair, and gestured for her to come over.
She walked in with the milk, obediently sat on his lap, put the milk on the table, and wrapped her arms around his neck, "What are you busy with?"
"The Forresters are planning to establish a robotics company, and I’m reviewing the business plan." He said, taking a sip of the fresh milk in front of him.
When he looked up at her again, his lips had a smile, but there was also a milk mustache. She leaned down and kissed away the teasing white milk mark.
Just like in Norport, when he kissed away the cream from her lips.
He laughed and kissed her back.
Afraid of disturbing his work, she fooled around for a while and then sat up straight, wrapping her arms around him, and relayed what she heard from Joyce Sutton.
He was quite surprised after hearing it and shook his head saying, "I haven’t seen Tobias in a while, and the last time I saw him, he didn’t mention it. Could Thornton be aware of this?"
"He would definitely tell me if he knew." Sienna Thornton frowned, a bit worried, "The new project starts in January and is already halfway done. It’s scheduled for December for me to lead the team to Valois. If they want me to switch units now, the whole plan would be disrupted."
Simon Forrester wrapped his arm around her waist, comforting, "Don’t worry, these matters can be discussed when the time comes."
Sienna Thornton sighed, "That’s true. I’m just venting to you."
After saying that, she hopped off Simon Forrester’s lap and went around to his back to massage his shoulders and neck, "Hurry and drink the milk, I’m waiting to wash the cup."
Simon Forrester chuckled, rubbing her cheek with the back of his hand, "I’ll wash the cup. You should go to sleep, rest early, you still need to get up at midnight to feed the baby."
The baby now wakes up at 3 AM for a feeding. Every time, as the feeding time approaches, the baby would wriggle in the crib, and it was always Simon Forrester who got up to carry the baby to the bed. After Sienna Thornton finished feeding, he would carry the baby back.
Sienna Thornton was used to lying down for feeding and would often fall asleep while the baby was nursing in the middle of the night, whereas Simon Forrester had to stay awake to make sure the baby was fed, burp him, and then carry him back.
Previously, he used to go to bed early like her, so it was fine, but now that he’s working overtime until midnight every night, barely getting two to three hours of sleep before getting up again, it can’t help but take a toll on his health over time. Sienna Thornton felt sorry for him but couldn’t think of a good solution.
Just as he felt sorry for her lack of sleep when the baby woke up for three feedings a night, now it was her turn to worry about him.
At this moment, massaging his shoulders and neck, she pondered for a moment and proposed, "How about this, after your overtime, you sleep in the next room? I’ll keep the baby in bed with me, and when he wakes up for a feed at night, I’ll take care of it. That way, you won’t be disturbed."
Simon Forrester didn’t even think about it, "That’s absolutely impossible. The only exception to not sleeping together is when you’re traveling for work; otherwise, even if the sky falls, we have to sleep together."
Sienna Thornton chuckled, gently patting his shoulder, "Are you that clingy? I’m just doing this for your own good, afraid that sleep deprivation will affect your health, and you’ll leave us early, leaving us orphans and widows, how tragic..."
Simon Forrester’s imagination was vivid too, and her two joking sentences immediately made him envisage his early demise, his son being ridiculed for not having a father, his wife being pitied as a widow, with numerous scoundrels eyeing his kind-hearted wife and the huge fortune he left behind...
No way, just the thought sucked all the work motivation out of him. He grabbed the milk on the table and downed it in one gulp, picked up Sienna Thornton in his arms, "Time for bed!"
Sienna Thornton laughed, pushing him, "I was just kidding! Go back to work."
"Money can never be fully earned, but there’s only one life, one wife."
He hugged her back to the bed in the master bedroom, closed the door, entered the bathroom to brush his teeth, changed into his pajamas, and before long, climbed into bed.
Only, what was agreed upon as going to bed turned into...
In the dimly lit bedroom, the woman softly protested, "You said it’s for sleeping..."
"It’s still early..."
"It’s not early anymore! It’s already nine-thirty!"
"For people in love, it’s only twilight now..."
The woman chuckled softly, "What about for people who aren’t in love?"
"For those who aren’t, it’s pitch black at this hour... Alright, no more talking, focus..."
...
Time flew to high summer, August, and little Victor finally turned one year old.
This was a major event for the Forrester Family. Old Master Forrester had been preparing various things since two or three months ago. The old gentleman was surprisingly more energetic than youngsters, personally taking care of every little detail for the birthday feast. Grandma Forrester joked that he was never this dedicated even when running a business back in the day.
