Chapter 18: Chapter 18 Mission

[Distributed 10 Dominion Cores to your Tamer Level. Tamer Level increased to 3!]

[Received 5 Stat Points!]

[15 Dominion Cores required for Tamer Level 4.]

---

Oliver used the Dominion Cores he had obtained to raise his Tamer Level from 1 to 3, Husk’s level from 1 to 3, and Overlord Eye from 1 to level 2. For every level up, he received 5 stat points that he could freely distribute. But Oliver was not satisfied.

"Hey, system! This is not fair. Why does Husk receive 10 stat points every level up while I only get 5? I also need points to increase my power!"

The system remained silent.

"Know your place, kid! I am a boss monster. Of course I deserve more stats than you, puny human." Husk smirked.

"Tch!" Oliver clicked his tongue as he angrily distributed the 10 stat points he had. He spread them evenly, with more allocated to Defense, as instructed by Husk, for better survivability.

These were his current stats. His HP and MP increased automatically with each level up, 20 for HP and 5 for MP per level up. Now that all his attributes had reached double digits, Oliver smiled, feeling a little stronger than before.

He then distributed Husk’s stat points, following Husk’s request to focus on STR and AGI, since his skills scaled mainly from those two attributes.

Unlike Oliver, Husk gained 50 HP and 25 MP per level up. This made Oliver sighed.

"Boss monsters really are built different, huh?"

He then looked at the effect of Overlord Eye, whose skill [All-Seeing Eye] had reached level 2. Now, besides the monster’s name and HP bar, he could also see its rank and level. It might not seem very useful at first, but for experienced tamers, knowing a monster’s rank and level could help them gauge its strength and plan their strategy.

Oliver also felt that the design of the Overlord Eye had become sharper and more intense.

"Now, it is time for me to unlock a new pack! Are you ready, Husk?" Oliver struck a dramatic pose.

Husk, meanwhile, did not react. Even as a boss monster, he felt that his master was far more energetic than him.

He opened his system and immediately checked the [Limited Offer] first, but he felt frustrated at the current selection. The cards were good, but far too expensive. The lowest price was 15,000 Tamer Coins, something he could not even come close to afford.

He then moved to the [Single Pack] section. Six new packs had been added:

---

[EMBERLIGHT ORDER]

[TRAIL OF LEGACY]

[NEW DAWN]

[ARSENAL OVERLORD]

[SCATTERED ORIGIN]

[OBLIVION TIDES]

---

With these new packs came higher chances of rare cards, but also higher costs. Oliver only had 1,000 coins at the moment, and he did not wish to spend everything, as he wanted to save for the future.

He chose one of the earlier packs he had unlocked, [RISE OF TAMER] and purchased it.

500 Tamer Coins were deducted from his account.

The pack materialized instantly in his hand. The pack bore an illustration of a tamer standing beside a powerful beast. Without hesitation, he tore it open.

First card.

---

[Quickstep]

Rarity: Common (White Card Frame)

Type: Skill

Effect:

Quickly dash to a nearby target location. Cannot pass through obstacles.

Cost: 5 MP

Cooldown: 10 seconds

---

Second card.

---

[Small Rejuvenating Potion]

Rarity: Uncommon (Green Card Frame)

Type: Item

Effect:

Heals 30 HP per charge used. Maximum of 5 charges. Charges are refilled every 30 seconds. Defeating enemies increases the recharge rate.

---

And lastly, the third card.

---

[Taming Meat - Drumstick]

Rarity: Common (White Card Frame)

Type: Consumable (One-time use)

Effect:

Used to increase monster familiarity, improving the chance of successful taming.

---

"What good cards I pulled. Do I actually have a Midas hand?" Oliver said excitedly.

He immediately learned the [Quickstep] skill and decided to try it out.

"Let’s see how it works. Quickstep!"

BAM!

He instantly dashed straight into the wall of his room, hitting his head hard. A large bump quickly formed.

"Oliver! What was that loud sound?!" his mother shouted from downstairs.

"Nothing, Mom! I just fell on the floor!" he replied, rubbing his head.

"Who in their right mind tries to use a dash skill in a tight space?" Husk said, annoyed.

"You should have said that earlier!"

After that, he materialized the potion. It turned out to be an incredible card. With its charge-based healing effect, Oliver no longer needed to buy expensive potions. With proper use, it was essentially an infinite healing source.

"This is...kind of broken," Oliver muttered as he turning the vial in his hand as faint energy pulsed within it.

"As expected from a system card. Do not rely on it too much, though. Healing does not mean you can fight recklessly." Husk commented.

"Yeah, yeah. I got it."

Finally, Oliver looked at the meat card.

"This will be useful for taming boss monsters in the future," he nodded.

"Or to bait them into eating you faster," Husk added.

"Can you not ruin the moment?"

Oliver sighed, but a small smile remained on his face.

With new skills, better healing item, and tools for taming, his next dungeon raid was already looking far more promising.

[Please use the System Key Card you have right now. It will expand the system capability.]

The system message appeared suddenly.

Without hesitation, Oliver used the System Key Card. A large radiant key materialized in the air and slowly rotating. Then, it pointed directly at Oliver.

The key pierced into his chest, as if unlocking something deep within him.

[System Expansion in Progress...]

After few minutes, the progress completed as new messages appeared.

[New Features Unlocked!]

[Mission Category Unlocked!]

"Mission?" Oliver was confused.

[Mission is a feature that will give you rewards for completing its tasks. It is the best feature to develop your power and, at the same time, increase your Tamer Coins.]

Oliver opened the [Mission] menu.

---

[Mission]

Total Available Missions: 1

Total Mission Slots: 1

---

Mission Name: Killing Spree I

Requirement: Slay 50 monsters of any rank

Reward: 10 Dominion Cores, 50 Tamer Coins

---

Pay 200 Tamer Coins to reset the current available missions.

---

"Sweet! This is like a quest. And the reward is not bad. I like this feature," Oliver said excitedly. With this, he now had something to focus on while farming cores and coins.

Suddenly, his door was knocked.

"Oliver, dinner is ready. Come down," Tamera’s voice was heard beyond the door.
