Chapter 29: Chapter 29 Preparation

Over the next few days, Oliver trained vigorously under Husk’s guidance. They even had mock battles between them. Of course, Husk always won overwhelmingly, but because of that, their Familiarity increased significantly.

Oliver could now maintain the Crimson Aura much better than before. Previously, he could only cover his hand with the aura when using a skill. But now, he could use it even for basic attacks.

However, it was currently limited to just one hand.

After hours of training, Oliver sat beneath a nearby tree to rest. He opened his system and looked at Cannonyx. A strange smile forming on his face. He had been doing this for the past few days as the excitement of summoning his new monster was something he could barely contain.

Then, his eyes shifted to the first monster he had ever obtained from the system, Ragthorax. He had almost forgotten that it was still there. If he wanted, he could summon it right now, fight it, and tame it. The more monsters, the better, he thought.

However, after the system explained that monsters from the system were in a class of their own, and that the risk of them causing chaos was much higher, Oliver decided to hold back.

For now, he needed to train and grow stronger first.

After that, he resumed his training. A few minutes later, Tamera came to see him.

"You are doing well, Oliver. It seems your training is starting to bear fruit," Tamera said with a smile.

"Ohh, Tamera. What are you doing here, right at the moment when I was about to beat Husk?" Oliver grinned.

Suddenly, Husk appeared in front of him and slammed into him, causing Oliver to stumble and fall.

"Hey! Not fair. I was just talking to Tamera," Oliver complained.

"If you do that in a real battle, you would have already lost your head. Stay focused!" Husk snapped.

Tamera laughed as she watched the two of them. Their interactions were always chaotic and amusing, but she knew their bond was incredibly strong.

"I brought some food. Let’s take a break and eat."

"Yahoo! Tamera’s food is always appetizing!" Oliver ran toward her.

He began eating eagerly, as if he had been starving. Tamera simply smiled at him before turning her gaze toward Husk, who was resting under a nearby tree.

"Husk, aren’t you going to eat? I’ve never seen you eat anything before."

"It is fine. I get all the nourishment I need when I am inside Oliver. Besides, human food does not really appeal to me," Husk replied.

Tamera pouted. "So you’re saying my food doesn’t look delicious? You know that’s a taboo thing to say to a woman?"

"N-no, I didn’t mean it like that."

"Just try my food first. You won’t regret it."

"Yeah, come on, Husk. Tamera’s food is the best!"

Husk shook his head before walking toward them.

’Wow, even someone as prideful as Husk can be tamed by her,’ Oliver thought.

Tamera fed a piece of chicken curry to Husk. He opened his mouth and tasted it. At first, his face twisted as if he expected to vomit, but then, his expression changed.

He took another bite. Then another. Soon, he was eating rapidly without stopping. Before long, the two of them had finished all the food.

"See? I told you it was good."

"It’s not that bad," Husk said.

"Hehehe. Hmm, Tamera, didn’t Mom say anything about you always coming here and bringing food?" Oliver asked.

"She did ask. But when I told her it was for you, since you’ve been training so hard, she just smiled. She said she’s proud of you. While other kids are out playing, you’re focused on becoming stronger. She believes that one day, you’ll make them very proud."

"Mom..." Oliver smiled softly. He truly felt lucky to be surrounded by such a caring family.

"Alright, before I forget, I’ve already finished preparing everything for your next dungeon. Make sure you use it. I also included the bombs you didn’t use before." Tamera handed him a leather bag.

Oliver looked inside and saw several glass bottles filled with a greenish-purple liquid.

Tamera explained that it was Venin Leaf Extract, used as an antidote against the poisonous spider monsters inside the dungeon.

"Thank you, Tamera. You are really helpful," Oliver said as he hugged her.

With that, his next raid was already set.

---

"Thank you for the report. You did a great job," Robert said.

The door closed behind Nolan. Robert was now sitting alone on the sofa in his meeting room inside his large house. He had just finished hearing the Guildmaster’s report.

He was truly relieved that the boss was gone. If not, the town he had inherited from his ancestors would have been destroyed, and he would have lost everything.

However, Nolan had mentioned a mysterious masked figure who supposedly tamed the boss monster. Robert simply laughed it off. He had never heard of anyone taming a boss before. To him, it sounded like Nolan must have misunderstood what he saw.

But Nolan insisted on investigating the matter, and Robert simply told him to do as he wished.

Suddenly, there was a knock on the door.

"Come in."

The door creaked open, and his son, Ray, stepped inside.

"Oh, Ray, my lovely son. What brings you here?"

"Father... I want to tell you something. A few days ago, I met Oliver, the failure. He got jealous of me because I have a monster. Then he attacked me and Flamlio," Ray said, forcing tears as he spun his lie.

"He said... people like me don’t deserve monsters." Ray lowered his head, clenching his fists.

"What?! How dare that kid do that to you. Are you alright, son?" Robert quickly checked on him.

"Luckily, I managed to avoid his attack. But Flamlio was hurt. He only just recovered from his injuries."

"That brat! How dare he lay a hand on you. I will make sure he and his family pay for this. Even if his father was once my close friend, I will not compromise on this matter."

"What will you do, Father?" Ray asked.

A twisted grin slowly spread across Robert’s face.

Now, he finally had a reason to carry out the plan he had been preparing for a long time.
