Path to Becoming the Greatest Space Mercenary
Chapter 503 Meeting of Chaos
Delilah inspected her appearance in a full-length mirror and smiled.
Her lustrous brown hair that had only been shoulder length before had grown out a bit and was styled in an elaborate braid stopping around a third of the way down her back.
Hints of makeup had been applied to give her youthful and cherubic looking face a more mature look, but there was really only so much that she could do. The current body she found herself in just happened to be one that previous sharpness.
Still, she was finding her current form to be useful.
In recent years she may have allowed her reputation to become a bit more tainted than she liked. Her tendency to use people for her own ends and screw them over at the last minute had been getting a bit out of hand.
Although, she truly did enjoy the expressions on their faces when they realized everything was unfolding around them and it was all her doing.
Fortunately, her new innocent and cute appearance helped take people off guard and she had maneuvered herself and some useful pawns to take over the territory that Clarien and Rook had once had a hold on.
That had allowed her to be cemented as a top player in multiple industries around their part of the galaxy.
One of which was her rising ranks within the Odium Syndicate.
She had gone from running their drug trade in a couple of sectors to half of a quadrant. Putting her among the top four in the Dramid Alliance and holding a seat on the upper council that was based in the Zatis Consortium.
Of course, her position in the organization was only a means to an end.
A way to gather some decent capital for more important projects and gain high value information.
Her true allegiance was only to herself, but she was partial to the group of like-minded individuals that she worked with.
When she was not busy screwing them over like she had with Clarien and Rook. But those two had just had to go for her to advance.
"Hm, what do you thin, the business suit or the dress?" Delilah asked her robotic butler.
"For your previous iteration, I would have recommended the suit. For your current form, the dress will accentuate your features better, madame."
"That’s what I figured, but I still wanted an objective opinion just in case. I suppose that this is what happens when I have the same body type throughout my three previous lives. I’m still having to adapt from some of my old habits." Delilah said with a slight sigh.
Except, only she and perhaps Adder would notice if she slightly slipped up a bit with her actions or expressions.
She was very good at eliciting the responses that she wanted from the people she interacted with, and it was only rarely now that she might do something that did not quite hit as well with her current appearance as it would have before.
Her cute face meant that sharp looks were not as effective anymore and her veiled threats were not taken as seriously.
However, on the flip side, acting bubblier and naïve was far easier to get away with. Those that did not know her well were easily tricked into letting their guard down around her now.
And those that did know her, well, there was little need to put on an act around them. They already knew to respect and fear her no matter what she looked like. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
Once her dark green dress with accents of gold was on, she took one last look at herself and was satisfied.
Normally she was particular with her appearance, but today she was being extra attentive.
Everything needed to be perfect.
It was the first meeting between every influential member of the secret society she belonged to in nine years.
The last one had been where they solidified long-term individual plans. Now it was time to consolidate their efforts and work towards their end game.
It had all been centuries in the making, but they were finally closing in on the ultimate goal.
Yet Delilah still expected it to take another half century at least for any results to be made. Grand ambitions certainly took a long time to come to fruition.
Once she was ready, she boarded her personal ship and was off.
...
The journey took nearly three and half weeks since the location of the meeting was in the middle of nowhere in interstellar space between a few systems that made up the center of the Dramid Alliance.
A single black plated station sat floating around with a sensor dampening field around it.
Unless you had the coordinates for the place, it would be almost impossible to find.
When she landed within the station’s hangar, a single ship obviously stood out.
It was massive compared to every other vessel present and nearly scraped the ceiling.
"I see that Casimir still feels the need to compensate for something." Delilah said with a smirk.
He was a brute of a man second only to Rook so far as she was concerned.
Still his battle capabilities were quite high, and his sphere of operation was far from hers. So, she found no need to get rid of him. Yet.
Glancing at the other ships, she recognized Adder’s and next to it Camila’s.
It seemed that those three were the only ones here right now, with the others yet to show.
"I’d have liked to arrive closer to the end, but I suppose I rushed a little since I’m excited to show off my new body. Oh well. I’m sure that Adder will provide some interesting conversation, and Camila is always fun to tease."
Delilah exited her ship and followed the guidance robot waiting in the hangar to bring her to the meeting room.
There she found Adder sitting next to an obviously uncomfortable Camila who looked like she had swallowed something especially bitter, and a large dark purple skinned man with black orbs for eyes situated as far away from the other two as possible.
Naturally, the three all turned towards her when she entered.
Adder almost immediately understood who had just arrived, but Camila and Casimir were staring at her skeptically. Not recognizing the newcomer.
Delilah only gave Casimir a single disinterested glance before smiling at Adder and Camila and heading over to them.
She figured that she could have some fun until the others arrived at Camila’s expense.
