Chapter 92: Chapter 92 Chen Yaowen’s Irony_1

Chen Yaowen’s tone was slightly ironic.

"How can this be called just muddling along? I’m helping my fiancée better manage this company," Ye Luo retorted, curling his lip.

"Does the Vice Director of the Security Department manage the company?"

Chen Yaowen said, his tone tinged with sarcasm.

"Of course, without the Security Department, the whole company would have no security at all. It’s the most important position."

Ye Luo spoke calmly, even as the chicken bone in his hand had been gnawed down to just one piece.

"Then I hope Mr. Ye can fully utilize your capabilities in the Security Department," Chen Yaowen said coolly before turning and leaving immediately.

Ye Luo glanced at Chen Yaowen, a wry smile playing on his lips. He clearly understood the man’s intentions.

It seemed his fiancée’s charm was indeed great – having just dealt with one suitor, another had already popped up.

After finishing his meal, Ye Luo returned to his own office and took out a business card from his pocket. The owner of this card was the president of the Ancient Artifacts Association and the chairman of the Mingzhu Group, Chen Baoshan.

Though he had started working at Ling Corporation, he hadn’t forgotten about the Ye Family’s company situation.

Even though he wasn’t the real young master of the Ye Family, since he had assumed this identity, he naturally needed to do something. Besides, he didn’t want to see Luo Jingxuan, such a beautiful woman, troubled by these matters, especially since he had also promised her, so he was naturally going to resolve this issue.

The company currently needed at least ten million in funding, which Ye Luo obviously couldn’t provide. Fortunately, he had taken several treasures from that tomb that, in his opinion, were extremely valuable. If auctioned off, they would surely fetch a good price.

That’s why he thought of Chen Baoshan – wasn’t he about to hold a jewelry auction in Zhonghai? It was a perfect opportunity.

"Hello, Old Chen, it’s me, Ye Luo."

When Chen Baoshan heard Ye Luo’s voice, he was very excited. Once Ye Luo expressed his desire to visit, Chen Baoshan readily agreed.

Later, Ye Luo said he would visit Chen Baoshan’s residence the next day.

After chatting with Chen Baoshan, Ye Luo idly played games again.

Soon, the afternoon passed, and it was time to leave work. The men and women of Ling Corporation left the office one after another.

"Vice Chief Ye, when are you leaving? We’re all waiting for you to treat us," said one of the colleagues.

Right as Ye Luo stepped out of the office, he saw Hei Zi and a few others all standing there waiting.

"Right now, of course. You guys pick the place and head straight there."

Ye Luo said heartily, then they all walked out of the company together.

"Hei Zi, Hu Zi, you two ride with me," Ye Luo offered, looking at Hei Zi and Hu Zi.

"Vice Chief Ye, you really are rich, driving a BMW. That must’ve cost hundreds of thousands," Hei Zi exclaimed, looking at the white BMW in front of them.

"Is that so? I wouldn’t know much about it," Ye Luo answered with a smile and then got into the car. As for the other dozen or so security guards planning to dine with Ye Luo, they all hailed a taxi to follow him.

"Are we going to eat there, have you chosen the place?"

Ye Luo looked at Hei Zi as he spoke.

"I’ve chosen the place. Vice Chief Ye, you’ve just been promoted, so naturally, we’ve got to treat you to a good meal. I’ll give you the address; you can just drive straight there."

Hei Zi said directly.

But it wasn’t until they arrived that Ye Luo realized Hei Zi had chosen a snack street in Zhonghai.

"Here? I thought you were going to make me treat you guys to a meal at a five-star hotel."

"That’s where the rich folk go; we wouldn’t be comfortable there. This is perfect—we often used to come here after work for a bunch of skewers and then grab a crate of beer and just start drinking. It’s incredibly satisfying." Hei Zi’s face was full of smiles.

"Let’s go then."

Ye Luo nodded, and then a group of about a dozen people headed into the snack street. Soon, Ye Luo and the others found a skewer shop with Hei Zi’s guidance.

It was just beginning to get dark, and the shop wasn’t very crowded. Ye Luo and his colleagues took a seat outside the shop, where Hei Zi proficiently ordered a heap of items, and a few people came over with several crates of beer.

"Vice Chief Ye, how’s your alcohol tolerance?"

Hei Zi couldn’t help but ask as he looked at Ye Luo.

"Don’t worry, you guys will be the first to get drunk," Ye Luo said with a confident smile.

Soon, plates of skewers, grilled meat, and chicken wings were served one after another, and the group started to eat. They picked up beer bottles and began to chug directly from them, each appearing to have a good tolerance for alcohol.

Time passed quickly, and in the blink of an eye, they had already gone through several crates of beer. By now, night had fallen over Zhonghai, and everyone was somewhat tipsy. Of them all, only Ye Luo, Hei Zi, and Hu Zi were relatively sober.

In the end, most of them were nearly too drunk to function and dispersed, leaving only Ye Luo, Hei Zi, and Hu Zi still drinking.

Outside the snack street, in a Ferrari, sat a figure—it was Fang Yan. His eyes twinkled with a cold gleam, and the corners of his mouth curled into a cold smile.

Seated next to him in the co-driver’s seat was an elder who had been following Fang Yan.

"Young Master, why go through such trouble? Just let me take action and it would be done," the elder said.

"How can I do that, Elder Tan? My master sent you to protect me; how can I let you deal with such matters? Letting those subordinates take care of it will do just fine—it’s a good opportunity to test their capabilities," Fang Yan said coldly, his eyes flashing viciously.

"Kid, I hope you can hold on," he muttered.

Back inside the snack street, Ye Luo and his two companions finished off another crate of beer. Hei Zi and Hu Zi seemed like they couldn’t hold on much longer.

Ye Luo, exuding the smell of alcohol and looking somewhat drunk, was hit by a gust of cold wind, which sobered him up considerably. The Nine Yang True Qi inside him started to circulate, forcing the alcohol out of his system.

The now sober Ye Luo frowned, his eyes showing a hint of suspicion, and he spoke out abruptly, "Hei Zi, Hu Zi, something’s not right."

In an instant, Hei Zi and Hu Zi were both shocked, instinctively on alert, their appearances becoming vigilant. Though they looked drunk a moment ago, they now sobered up, circulating their True Qi within them and forcibly expelling the effects of the alcohol.

"Vice Chief Ye, what’s the matter?" Hei Zi asked in a deep voice.

"Take a look around; does everything seem right to you?" Ye Luo said calmly.

Hei Zi and Hu Zi scanned the surroundings, their expressions tensing.
