Pioneer Lord: I Have Conquering System
Chapter 34 - 33: Kicking the Jackal Wolfman
Within minutes, the Jackal Wolfman Tribe had gathered all its able-bodied members. A force of about sixty launched an attack on the High Mountain Castle squad hiding in the tall grass.
Every one of these Jackal Wolfmen carried a decent Metal Weapon.
The twenty or so Jackal Wolfman Cavalry leading the charge, mounted on Desert Wolves, were even equipped with tattered Leather Armor for added defense.
Levi even spotted a full set of Standard Cavalry Heavy Armor on the tall Jackal Wolfman leading them. Though it looked a bit old, it was still a rare piece of equipment.
Judging from the crest on the Armor’s chest plate, it must have belonged to some unlucky Pioneer Noble.
"Boss, should we—" Lying in the grass, Zat scratched his butt and subconsciously sniffed his fingers.
This pack of Jackal Wolfmen might not be as well-equipped as human Mercenaries, but they weren’t far behind.
But Zat still didn’t think much of them. Forget the boss—he figured he alone could take on a dozen of those pups.
"Demacia!"
But to Zat’s astonishment, before he could even finish, Levi yelled, leaped out of the grass, and charged.
"DEMACIA!!!"
Seeing their boss charge, the Beastman Barbarians roared in unison, jumping out from the grass and rushing down the slope toward the Jackal Wolfmen.
They had no idea what "Demacia" meant, but since it came from their boss, they figured it must mean "charge," so they all started shouting it too.
Most of the Beastmen had already charged out of the tall grass before Zat, slow on the uptake, finally scrambled to his feet. He snatched up the Fine Steel Double-Bladed War Axe that had been flattening a large patch of grass beside him and leaped out.
"Beastmen fear nothing!"
Halfway through his charge, an Iron Spear materialized in Levi’s hand. With zero startup frames, he instantly flung it forward. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
WHOOSH!
The Iron Spear shot out like a ballista bolt, instantly knocking the charging Jackal Wolfman leader off his mount.
The Jackal Wolfman leader crashed to the ground, completely stunned, rolling several times before the force of the impact subsided.
Meanwhile, its Desert Wolf mount was pierced through the chest by Levi’s spear and pinned firmly to the ground. It writhed and howled, somehow not killed by the single blow.
With Levi’s precision, killing the Jackal Wolfman leader from a mere hundred paces would have been child’s play.
But Levi had his eye on the Jackal Wolfman’s Cavalry Heavy Armor. A direct hit would have punched a hole straight through it.
That was why he’d knocked it off its mount first, intending to deal with it at his leisure.
This sudden turn of events startled the vanguard of the Jackal Wolfman Cavalry, causing them to slow slightly.
But they didn’t panic. Instead, they split into two streams around their fallen leader and continued their charge toward the Beastman Barbarians.
WHOOSH! WHOOSH! WHOOSH!
The Beastman Barbarians opened their attack with a customary volley of Javelins. Unfortunately, the Jackal Wolfmen weren’t pushovers like Goblins or Kobolds.
The moment they saw the Beastmen readying their Javelins, they howled and scattered their formation.
As a result, the Barbarians’ volley had minimal effect. Only a dozen or so Jackal Wolfmen were struck, their chests torn open by Javelins that pinned them to the ground with immense force.
Only three of the Jackal Wolfman Cavalry were unseated.
The volley of Javelins ended, and the Jackal Wolfman Cavalry crashed into the Barbarians.
Muto and Zat were at the forefront of the charge.
Wielding his Warhammer, Muto let out a furious roar. Veins bulged like worms on his log-thick arms as his Iron Hammer smashed down hard on a Desert Wolf’s jaw.
CRACK!
With the sound of shattering bone, the immense force lifted the front half of the six- to seven-hundred-pound Desert Wolf clean into the air.
The Jackal Wolfman rider was nearly thrown off, but it was no cowardly Goblin or Kobold.
Instead, the blow only enraged the Jackal Wolfman. It took the opportunity to swing its Curved Saber at Muto.
SWISH!
But just as the Curved Saber was about to strike Muto, a Javelin shot out from the crowd at a wicked angle, sending the Jackal Wolfman flying like a discarded ragdoll.
Muto glanced back and saw it was his boss who had thrown the Javelin. Touched, he roared and turned, smashing a Jackal Wolfman attempting a sneak attack into a pulp with his hammer.
The Warhammer in his hands weighed a full eighty pounds. Combined with his immense Power, Muto could smash the skull of an Ice Bear to smithereens with a single blow.
Compared to Muto, Zat’s attack was far bloodier. He swung his Double-Bladed Giant Axe in a wide arc from low to high.
The razor-sharp Axe Blade met no resistance as it cleaved the Jackal Wolfman Cavalryman before him in two.
Its Desert Wolf mount suffered an even worse fate; its body was split in two, connected only at the rump.
Guts spilled from their bodies, releasing a horrendous stench.
Even the ferocious, bloodthirsty Jackal Wolfmen were horrified by the sight. They all gave Zat a wide berth, charging toward the other Beastmen instead.
No matter how high their morale, it was quickly drowned in blood and death. Faced with a slaughter by the Beastman Barbarians, against whom they stood no chance, the Jackal Wolfmen’s survival instincts took over.
But it was too late. The Beastman Barbarians vied with each other to deliver the final blows.
And with that, the attacking Jackal Wolfmen were wiped out.
The once lush green meadow was now painted crimson with the blood of the Jackal Wolfmen, filled with the stench of gore and death.
Levi, having just lopped off the Jackal Wolfman leader’s head with his sword, had witnessed the entire battle. He wasn’t surprised by the outcome.
This pack of Jackal Wolfmen might be considered a decent force in the Wilderness.
But that was only when compared to Goblins and Kobolds.
With their numbers being roughly equal to the Beastman Barbarians, their deaths were a foregone conclusion in one-on-one combat.
And that wasn’t even counting Zat, that absolute animal, who had killed a dozen Jackal Wolfmen all by himself.

Levi took the opportunity to glance at Zat’s Attributes. He saw that Zat had leveled up twice after the last few battles.
As a Heroic Unit, Zat gained one Attribute Point and one Skill Point for each Level he gained.
But whenever Levi himself leveled up, he received an extra Skill Point.
’I still don’t know why that is.’
Shaking his head, Levi directly assigned Zat’s two Attribute Points to Power and Agility, and his Skill Points to Iron Bone and Strong Strike.
’As for Intelligence? Levi didn’t even consider putting points into that stat for Zat. Even with more points, he’d probably just be a slightly smarter idiot. A complete waste of Attribute Points.’
’He just wasn’t built for it.’
