Chapter 41: Chapter 40: The Dynasty Fell Long Ago

Baisitina and her people witnessed an astonishingly powerful Javelin streak across the sky. It plummeted into the earth with the force of a meteorite. The three strongest men in their group tried to pull it out but couldn’t even budge it.

The one among them with the sharpest eyes, an Eagle Shooter, claimed a human had thrown it. The others, however, found this utterly unacceptable. The distance was three hundred paces; likely not even a Giant could hurl an iron javelin that far.

Baisitina knew this was both a demonstration and a warning, so she raised a white flag and ordered her people to continue forward.

This was the only chance she could see. If she didn’t seize it, there was no telling what the future would hold.

She understood that opportunities are fleeting; any hesitation could mean losing this one.

As expected, the vigilant Beastman Warriors on the hill did not attack again, allowing them to approach to a distance of fifty paces. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺

At this range, the Beastman Warriors once again raised their weapons. It was an extremely sensitive distance; she knew they could not advance any further, or a conflict would break out.

"State your purpose!"

Levi hadn’t expected this group to actually be surrendering with a white flag instead of trying to pull some kind of stunt.

"I am Baisitina Dan Yaxili, the current Princess of the Feder Kingdom. I come with peaceful intentions."

Baisitina placed a hand over her chest and bowed.

The people in this group had an average height of about 1.8 ren and wore black hoods. However, from their bulky physiques and the bulges at their waists, it was obvious they were wearing Leather Armor or Chain Armor and were armed.

’The Feder Kingdom?’

’Why does that name sound familiar?’

Levi mused to himself. He hadn’t expected the little potato standing before him, who looked so out of place among her people, to actually be a Princess.

Forgive him for calling her a little potato, but her people were nearly 1.8 ren tall on average, while he estimated she was only about 1.5 ren.

Add to that the Beastmen on his side, who were almost 2.3 ren tall, and she looked like a potato that had gotten mixed into a patch of pumpkins.

"Heh, a princess who’s afraid to show her face?" Levi sneered.

A princess from some godforsaken ditch in the Wilderness. ’You see all sorts of things if you live long enough.’

"You..."

Unexpectedly, his words drew furious glares from the group opposite him.

SWISH! SWISH! SWISH!

The Beastman Barbarians sneered, gripping their Javelins and assuming a throwing stance. The rows of sharp spearheads were a painful sight to behold.

"Daring to get feisty with me? Have you forgotten whose land you’re on?" Levi said with contempt.

If a fight broke out, at such a close distance, these humans would be turned into pincushions by the Barbarians in an instant.

The humans obviously knew they wouldn’t come out on top in a clash with these muscle-bound barbarians, so they could only swallow their anger and remain silent.

"Apologies, Sir Knight. We meant you no offense. We were forced to act."

"White hair and blue eyes?"

Seeing the person before him remove their hood, Levi was slightly taken aback. He waved his hand, and the Barbarians behind him promptly put away their Fine Steel Javelins.

"I am Levi, Lord of High Cliff Castle."

Levi walked down from the hill. He wore a thin, short-sleeved linen shirt. His longsword was sheathed, and his hands were casually tucked into the pockets of his breeches. His fine Deer Hide Hunting Boots crunched on the gravel path.

The group all lowered their hoods, revealing their faces.

Every one of them had white hair and blue eyes, with skin as white as the first winter snow.

Their leader was a young girl—the very same "little potato" who called herself a Princess.

Her white hair cascaded to her waist, and her eyes were as beautiful as sapphires. Her skin was fairer than snow. Above her eyes were a pair of gracefully curved eyebrows, and her long lashes trembled slightly. A faint blush colored her flawless white cheeks, while her thin lips were as delicate and tempting as rose petals.

Even though her face was etched with exhaustion and the dust of a long journey, one could still see her delicate features and exquisite facial structure. It was a unique and dazzling beauty, as if she were of mixed blood.

She possessed a refined and noble bearing that was so captivating it made others feel unworthy in her presence, as if they dared not profane her.

In terms of looks alone, Levi had to admit she did look like a Princess.

’Wait, no!’

Levi suddenly remembered something.

’The Feder Kingdom... white hair and blue eyes?’

’Aren’t these the Feder Royal Family, whose kingdom was destroyed by King Debei I before they fled into the Kas Mountain Range?’

’If this little girl in front of him was indeed their descendant, then calling her a Princess wouldn’t be an exaggeration.’

’But...’

’Your kingdom fell a long, long time ago!’

’Her kingdom has already been destroyed by Debei, yet she still calls herself a Princess. She’s either clueless about her situation or just plain stupid.’

"You are Levi?" Baisitina’s small mouth fell slightly open, her face filled with surprise.

"Unless there’s another Levi around here, I suppose I’m the one you’re talking about," Levi said with a nod.

He had been looking for a chance to make contact with the Feder Remnants in the Kas Mountain Range himself. He never expected them to just deliver themselves to his doorstep.

Ever since Baisitina decided she wanted to leave the Kas Mountain Range and join the Debei Kingdom, she had paid close attention to recent news about Debei. As such, she could be considered something of a Debei Tong.

"I have heard of your renown in the arena. And I am especially in awe of how you escorted your Feudal Lord safely to the Northern Territory, all while under pressure from a usurper Duke," Baisitina said, her face full of admiration.

During this time, the most famous person in the Northern Territory was this very Baron Levi.

Even with the usurper in control of Kolon City and a hundred elite cavalrymen in pursuit, he had not abandoned his Feudal Lord, instead delivering her safely to the Northern Territory.

One could say he perfectly embodied the spirit of a Knight—honor, loyalty, and fortitude...

"You’re too kind! It’s all just talk, just talk!" Levi’s face, uncharacteristically, turned red as he waved his hands dismissively.

He couldn’t deny the former, but as for the latter, he had only escorted Liya to the Northern Territory for One Thousand Gold Coins.

Now, being praised to his face like this, even someone as thick-skinned as him couldn’t help but feel a little awkward.

But setting aside the One Thousand Gold Coins, he really had fought off a hundred elite cavalrymen to deliver Liya to the Northern Territory in one piece.

What Levi hadn’t expected, however, was that Fulina would actually publicize this matter in the Northern Territory and brand Damon’s faction in the Southern Territory as usurpers.

It seemed a war between the two sides was now unavoidable.

He just didn’t know how the Debei Royal Family would handle this situation.

On the surface, the Royal Family and the King were the rulers of Debei, but in reality, the King had no actual control over the Dukes.

"Alright, tell me. Why have you come looking for me?"

Levi said, putting on an air of importance.

Although he had long wanted to bring these Feder Remnants under his command, he understood perfectly the principle of playing hard to get.

At a time like this, it was crucial not to reveal that he had been coveting them all along.

After learning that this Baron was, in fact, the very Knight Levi whom she so admired, Baisitina’s wariness toward him lessened considerably.

After all, a Knight with such a chivalrous spirit would surely never stoop to betraying them.

And so, she honestly explained her purpose for coming.
