Chapter 240: Chapter 240 Give Me An Answer

SOPHIA’S POV

The moment Zade asked me what changed, my chest tightened painfully.

His voice had been low and rough when he said it. There was frustration inside it, under that frustration, I heard something even more dangerous -hurt, real hurt.

My wolf whimpered softly inside me. She hated hearing him sound like that.

Even now, after everything, she still reacted to him so strongly that it frustrated me to my core.

I dropped his injured hand after finishing the bandage.

“You should disinfect it again later,” I said quietly while avoiding his eyes.

But Zade didn’t move. He didn’t respond. He didn’t even glance at the bandage.

Instead, his eyes remained fixed entirely on my face.

“Sophia.” He whispered.

Just hearing him say my name that way made my chest ache.

I stepped back from him.

“We should go back,” I said.

Before I could turn away, Zade suddenly grabbed my wrist.

The warmth of his hand instantly spread through my skin like fire. My breath caught involuntarily, and my wolf reacted immediately to the physical contact. She pressed anxiously against me, torn between wanting him closer and wanting to run away from him completely.

“You still haven’t answered me,” he said darkly.

I finally looked at him then.

And immediately regretted it.

Because his eyes looked terrifyingly intense right now. There was too much emotion inside them. Anger. Frustration. Confusion. Possessiveness. Pain.

All directed at me.

“You already know the answer,” I said quietly.

“No,” he replied immediately. “I don’t.”

His grip on my wrist tightened slightly.

“What changed between us?”

I stared at him silently for several seconds before finally laughing softly.

But there was no happiness in the sound.

“You really don’t know?”

Zade’s jaw clenched tightly.

My wolf whimpered again inside me because she could sense how unstable his emotions were becoming. His Alpha aura was growing heavier around us now, filling the quiet forest with dangerous pressure.

I pulled my wrist from his hand.

“What exactly are you asking me?” I said coldly. “Why I stopped chasing after you? Why I stopped acting like an idiot every time you looked at me?”

Zade’s expression darkened immediately. “That’s not what this is.”

“Then what is it?”

My voice rose as I spoke “You disrespected me by meeting up with Tiffany outside while you came to see me at the hospital. You flirt with Tiffany. You drink with Tiffany. You let her cling to you publicly. You show up everywhere with women hanging all over you.” My throat tightened painfully. “And then you stand here asking why I changed?”

Zade suddenly looked furious. “Tiffany means nothing.”

I laughed bitterly “Of course, she does.”

“She doesn’t,” he snapped harshly.

The force in his voice startled nearby birds from the trees.

My wolf flinched inside me and so did I. Zade immediately noticed. His expression shifted briefly with regret before hardening again.

“You’re the one pulling away from me,” he said. “You’re the one pretending nothing happened between us.”

I stared at him coldly “Because nothing should have happened between us.”

The moment those words left my mouth, I saw something crack inside his expression.

I saw the pain in his eyes, real pain. But I forced myself to continue anyway.

“We belong to completely different worlds, Zade.” I whispered.

He went still.

I swallowed hard before continuing “You and I were never supposed to happen in the first place.”

The forest suddenly felt painfully quiet around us. Even my wolf became restless now, because despite saying those words, they hurt me too.....a lot.

Zade stared at me for several long seconds without blinking. Then finally ....

“So that’s it?” he said. His voice had become frighteningly calm now. “That’s your excuse?”

I sighed “It’s not an excuse.”

“It is.” His eyes turned dark “You’re running away.”

I felt anger rise inside me immediately.

“No,” I snapped. “I’m being realistic.”

“Realistic?” he repeated mockingly.

“Yes.”

I folded my arms tightly across my chest to stop myself from trembling.

“This is about Damien.” He said “You still love him.”

My eyes went wide with shock “What?”

“You heard me.” 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞

His wolf was surfacing now. I could feel it clearly. The possessive Alpha pressure around him had become almost suffocating.

“You keep pushing me away because of Damien.”

I gasped “That’s not true.”

“Yes, it is. You’re still emotionally tied to him no matter how badly he treats you.”

Anger exploded inside me instantly.

“You don’t know anything about me.” I snapped.

“I know enough.”

I stepped closer toward him furiously.

“You think you understand me so well?” My voice shook emotionally. “You think you can judge me while you run around publicly humiliating me with Tiffany?”

Zade’s expression snapped instantly. “I never humiliated you.”

I laughed harshly. My wolf growled painfully inside me now too. Because deep down, she had been hurt every single time she saw him with another woman.

“You still love Damien,” he suddenly said again.

The accusation hit me hard. Honestly... I didn’t even know what I felt anymore. Was it love? Hatred? Exhaustion?

All I knew was that Damien had destroyed something inside me long ago. But hearing Zade accuse me like this still hurt deeply.

“I don’t owe you explanations,” I said quietly.

The moment those words left my mouth, something inside Zade snapped.

Suddenly, he grabbed my face roughly.....and kissed me....ard.

My eyes widened instantly in shock.

The force behind the kiss nearly stole my breath. His lips crashed against mine angrily.

I shoved hard against his chest immediately.

“Zade!” I screamed.

But he refused to let go. His hand tightened behind my neck while kissing me harder. I could literally feel how unstable his emotions were now. His wolf had completely lost control.

I bit down harshly against his lip. Zade pulled back slightly in shock. That gave me enough space to slap him.

The sound echoed through the quiet forest.

Zade froze completely.

I stared at him breathing heavily while anger and humiliation burned through my chest.

“How dare you?!” I shrieked.

Zade looked stunned. His lip had started bleeding where I bit him earlier. His eyes remained fixed on me silently.

“You don’t get to force yourself on me because you’re angry,” I snapped.

My wolf was shaking emotionally inside me now too, not from fear, but from heartbreak.

“What you just did was disgusting.” I said.

The word visibly hit him hard.

Something cold entered his expression now, something dangerous.

Zade kicked the pile of gathered firewood beside him. The wood scattered everywhere across the forest floor loudly.

The force shocked me.

His Alpha aura exploded dangerously around us now. Rage rolled off him so heavily that even my wolf retreated inside me uneasily.

“Fine,” he said hoarsely.

His eyes looked terrifying now.

“You want distance?” he laughed bitterly. “Then keep it.”

Before I could react, he turned and stormed away furiously through the trees.

My chest tightened painfully watching him leave.

My wolf whimpered loudly inside me.

THIRD PERSON’S POV

Zade walked out of the forest.

Tiffany immediately approached Zade the second he appeared from the forest.

Her expression softened instantly when she saw him. She moved closer toward him while pretending concern.

“Zade, are you alright?” she asked gently.

But Zade didn’t even look at her properly.

His face remained terrifyingly cold.

“Move.” He said through gritted teeth.

Tiffany froze, probably because he sounded genuinely frightening right now. Still, she forced another smile.

“I was worried about you.” She said.

Zade finally looked at her then. His eyes were so cold that Tiffany flinched a little.

“Didn’t you hear me?” he snarled. His voice was ice cold. “Move.”

Tiffany’s face went pale.. She stepped aside immediately.

Meanwhile, nearby voices suddenly rose loudly.

“Say it again!” “I hate you!”

Ashley and Boris stood near the rocks beside the small river now. Ashley’s tiny face looked red from crying and anger.

Then suddenly, she screamed out

“You’re still a motherless bastard!”

Everything froze again.

Boris looked devastated instantly. But before anyone else could react, Klara suddenly rushed forward furiously.

“You’re mean!” Klara cried out.

Ashley gasped in shock. And then, Klara shoved her.

Ashley lost balance instantly and fell backward off the rock with a scared cry.

Several adults screamed loudly nearby, but Klara wasn’t done.

She climbed down after Ashley and started pushing at her angrily.

“Bad girl! Bad girl!” Klara screamed.

Ashley burst into tears instantly.

The entire field exploded into chaos.
