THIRD PERSON’S POV

Inside the living room, Patricia sat quietly on the couch while Klara slept against her lap with her small stuffed rabbit in her arms.

The television played softly in the background, but nobody was truly paying attention to it.

Marco stood near the window with his phone pressed against his ear.

“No answer,” he muttered.

Patricia looked up at him with worry written all over her face. “Still nothing?”

Marco shook his head “She hasn’t answered since yesterday.” His voice sounded strained now. “Sophia never ignores my calls this long.”

Patricia bit her lower lip nervously and glanced toward the clock on the wall. It was already close to midnight. Usually, even during overtime shifts at the hospital, Sophia would at least send a short message to reassure them that she was alright. But this time, there had been absolutely nothing, not even one text.

Marco’s wolf had been restless the entire evening. His protective instincts toward his younger sister had always been strong, but tonight, something felt terribly wrong.

Patricia gently stroked her daughter’s hair while her own heart continued pounding.

Earlier that day, she had tried messaging Sophia pictures of Klara playing in the garden. Sophia had seen the messages but never replied. That alone already felt unusual.

“She sounded strange the last time we spoke,” Patricia whispered quietly. “Like she was trying too hard to sound normal.”

Marco clenched his jaw. His wolf growled low inside him.

Something was definitely wrong.

Marco grabbed his car keys from the table. “I’m going to see her.”

Patricia stood up too. “I’m coming with you.”

“Klara’s asleep.”

“I’ll take her.”

Marco looked at his wife for a long moment before finally sighing tiredly. There was no point arguing with her. Patricia loved Sophia like her own sister. If something truly happened to Sophia, Patricia would never sit calmly at home.

When they got outside, they saw a familiar figure.

A tall figure slowly appeared under the street lights.

Zade.

The moment Marco recognized him, his expression instantly hardened. Patricia also froze slightly in surprise. She was carrying an already sleeping Klara in her arms.

Zade looked exhausted tonight. His black shirt was wrinkled and dark circles surrounded his eyes like he hadn’t slept properly for days.

Zade stopped walking the moment he saw them standing.

Marco’s eyes narrowed dangerously. “What are you doing here?”

“Sophia’s not inside?” Zade asked quietly.

Patricia noticed the tension in his voice. “You don’t know where she is?”

Zade looked visibly irritated now. “I came to see her.”

Marco crossed his arms “At midnight?”

Zade finally looked at him directly. “I wouldn’t be here if she answered her phone.”

Something about the way he said it made Patricia’s uneasiness grow stronger.

Marco stared at him suspiciously “Do you know something we don’t?”

For the first time since arriving, hesitation crossed Zade’s face.

That single expression immediately made Patricia nervous.

“What happened to Sophia?” she asked quickly.

Zade’s eyes darkened slightly.

Earlier that evening, he had climbed through Sophia’s bedroom balcony like he had done countless times before. His wolf had been unusually restless all night, unable to calm down no matter how much he distracted himself.

When he entered her dark bedroom tonight...it was empty.

There were no signs Sophia had returned home recently. Even her medicine bottles were gone from the bedside table.

At first, Zade thought she might still be working late at the hospital but then he noticed something else. He saw medical documents and a hospital discharge slip partially sticking out beneath a drawer.

He saw the department name written clearly at the top - Obstetrics and Gynecology.

The moment he saw it, his entire body had gone cold. His wolf had immediately become frantic inside him.

Something terrible had happened.

Now, standing outside her house with Marco and Patricia staring at him, Zade finally spoke quietly.

“She’s in the hospital.” He said

Patricia’s face went pale. “What?”

Marco stepped forward “Which hospital?”

“Saint Mary’s.” Zade answered.

Marco’s voice became deadly cold. “Why is she there?”

For the first time in a very long while, Zade actually looked uncertain.

“I don’t know everything yet,” he admitted quietly. “But she was admitted through obstetrics. I just figured it out”

Patricia gasped softly. Marco froze completely.

Patricia’s eyes widened in realization. “Pregnancy?” she whispered shakily.

Marco’s face became terrifyingly dark.

Without another word, he turned immediately and walked toward the car. Patricia hurried after him while still holding Klara tightly. Zade followed silently behind them.

The drive to the hospital felt suffocating.

Nobody spoke for most of the journey.

Patricia’s hands shook as she held Klara close. Her mind kept racing endlessly. Sophia had been acting strange for weeks now. Now Patricia finally realized why.

Tears filled her eyes.

“How could she hide something this serious from us?” she whispered

Marco gripped the steering wheel harder. His wolf was already dangerously agitated.

If Sophia had suffered alone this entire time...if someone hurt her...

His chest burned at the thought.

Beside him, even Zade’s expression remained tense. He kept staring ahead silently.

By the time they arrived at the hospital, it was already past midnight.

Marco approached the reception desk immediately.

“My sister,” he said sharply. “Sophia Stone.”

The nurse behind the desk instantly recognized the name. She glanced nervously toward the hallway.

That single reaction already made Marco more worried.

“She’s upstairs,” the nurse answered.

Patricia’s heart dropped.

The moment they reached Sophia’s hospital floor, Bianca immediately appeared from the waiting area.

The moment she saw Marco and Patricia approaching, panic flashed across her face.

“Oh no,” she muttered softly under her breath.

Marco instantly noticed her expression. “Where’s Sophia?”

Bianca forced out a quick smile that looked completely fake. “She’s resting.”

Patricia stepped forward “What happened to her?”

Bianca opened her mouth but hesitated. That hesitation alone exposed everything.

Marco’s eyes went dark. “Bianca.”

“I...” Bianca swallowed nervously. “She just needs rest.”

“Stop lying,” Marco snapped.

Bianca flinched.

She’d spent the entire day protecting Sophia’s wishes. Sophia begged her not to let her family know the truth. But now that they were standing here looking terrified and desperate, Bianca suddenly realized there was no possible way to hide it anymore.

Patricia’s voice shook. “Please tell us the truth.”

Bianca lowered her eyes “She lost the baby.”

There was silence.....complete silence.

Marco froze entirely. Patricia’s face turned pale with shock. Even Zade’s breathing suddenly stopped for a second.

The hallway suddenly felt unbearably cold.

“What...” Patricia whispered weakly. “What baby?”

Bianca looked heartbroken now. “Sophia was pregnant.”

Marco’s wolf exploded violently inside him.

Pregnant? Sophia had been pregnant.

His hands clenched tightly into fists as rage spread through him.

Patricia’s eyes filled with tears. “Oh my God...”

Bianca looked away guiltily. “There were complications. She had severe bleeding. She almost died.”

Marco turned away and slammed his fist against the nearby wall violently. The loud sound echoed through the corridor. His wolf raged uncontrollably inside him.

Sophia almost died and none of them knew.

Patricia burst into tears immediately.

Even little Klara woke up from the noise and blinked sleepily. “Mommy?”

Patricia hugged her tightly while crying silently.

Nearby, Zade stood completely motionless. His face had gone pale. His wolf felt like it was tearing through his chest from the pain.

Sophia had been carrying Damien’s child....and she lost it alone.

Suddenly, the hospital room door opened quietly but none of them heard it..

Sophia herself had overheard the voices outside.

The moment she realized Marco and Patricia were here, pure panic filled her chest.

No.

No no no.

Her wolf immediately became distressed inside her. Sophia quickly looked down at herself in horror. Bruises still covered her arms and neck. Her face looked pale and exhausted. Even moving hurt badly.

She looked miserable.

The last thing she wanted was for her family to see her like this.
