Chapter 140: Compensation for mental damage

Seeing him approathem, Dera revealed a tiny grin which surprised the man. Alarm bells rang in his head, but he persisted.

How could he pass up the opportunity to speak with younger girls and possibly...

’Hehe.’

His own little grin formed, and he quickly arrived before the group, blocking their path.

"Hello, beauties."

Dera’s expression had turned cold, and she said a single word, "Scram."

The man’s expression froze, and he couldn’t help but reevaluate Dera again. Does her mood change like an unpredictable weather?

When he thought about this, a smile appeared on his face, and his eyes shone even brighter.

He directly ignored Dera and spoke to the others.

"Well, I see this is your first time approaching this ruins. Do you need a guide? This daddy can lead you kids around and show you some... wonderful corners."

Dera’s expression soured at the way he blatantly ignored her.

"Old bastard..." She gritted her teeth and stepped forward, her aura rising. "Do you want to die? I said scram!"

At this point, everyone around then had noticed the commotion. People didn’t interfere, but they were watching.

And Dera liked that.

"Brat. Don’t you think you’re too bold? I’m old enough to be father or grandfather. If you provoke me too much, I will make sure you regret it."

Standing behind her sister, Sera said only one word, "Pedophile."

The man’s goatee twitched, and his furious stare turned to the silver-haired girl.

"Oi, Don’t you say such a—gah!"

Grunting at the end of his words, he stumbled back and looked up with a surprised gaze.

Dera lowered her leg, a calm expression on her face. She had just kicked the man in his guts, and a smirk appeared on her lips.

"You’re too old, geezer. I’ll probably crush you in less than ten minutes."

Finally, the man’s expression turned serious, and he pulled a battle-axe from his storage ring.

"I see. Looks like you don’t know your place and you’re intentionally provoking me. Don’t blame me for being rough on you."

Before Dera could reply, he was already shooting straight at her.

Unfazed, Dera grinned widely and pulled out her own battle-axe and charged at him.

"I’m killing you here, old man!"

Bang!

The two weapons clashed midair, and a bubble of compressed air exploded from the impact. Surprisingly, the man was forced back by a step in the confrontation.

"This brat... already at Master Stage...?"

His expression shifted to shock, but he wasn’t deterred. He immediately pulled back his arms and prepared to attack again.

Before he could, however, two ice pillars suddenly appeared midair, striking him squarely in the chest.

He felt his heart tighten as a bone-chilling coldness seeped into his lungs and torso. Staggering backwards, he watched the pillars disappear into ice mist, then activated one of his own techniques.

"Earth Golems!"

Four earthen golems rose from the rubbles, their huge, lifeless bodies lunging straight at Dera.

The girl waved her hand, and four ice pillars flew towards the golems, striking them in the torso.

Boom!

Sensing danger, she turned her attention back to the man and realized he had come close while she was distracted.

She responded to his attack with a focused swing of her battle-axe coated in ice.

Bang! Crack!

The two weapons collided, and the ice shattered. Shards of ice flew over and knocked into the man, causing him to hiss and stagger from the cold temperature.

"Petty tricks," He spat.

"Oh?" Dera smirked. "I’ll stop underestimating you and fight with my full power then, old bastard."

Her aura rose swiftly, climbing from the Initial Master Stage to the Core Master Stage in just a matter of seconds.

The man’s eyes widened in horror. "You... you were suppressing your cultivation?"

He, as old as he was, was a proud Initial Master Stage cultivator. When he first clashed with the girl, he had felt the same aura radiating from her. Hence, he thought he was her match.

Although it was surprising to see such a young girl reach that level of power, the man believed she was a greenhorn who knew nothing about true combat.

Perhaps her cultivation had been rushed, so she definitely wasn’t as strong as she seemed to be. However, after the first few clashes, he had to take back his words. The girl was strong! She even knew how to fight well!

How could there be such a prodigy? From which family? From which sect does she come from?

Gritting his teeth, he still endured, believing she would soon leave an opening for him to exploit. However, he didn’t expect her to be actually this strong, and be able to react to his sneak attack.

What was even more surprising was that her strength was not limited to the Initial level!

’Looks like I have to pause and apologize.’

Dera knew how to read people. So, when she saw the battle intent in his eyes flicker out, she felt a flush of irritation.

He wanted to surrender? Impossible! She wouldn’t allow that.

Just as the man prepared to open his mouth and speak, he felt the scythe of death hanging by his neck, and reacted swiftly.

Bang!

His arms trembled from blocking her attack, and his feet sank deeper into the ground. His face turned red from the strain, and in the end, he spat a mouthful of blood to the ground.

"Damned bitch! If you don’t stop ri—"

Dera cut him off with a haughty laughter. "You still have the tongue to call me such a vile name? Looks like I need to beat some proper sense into you."

Laughing boisterously, she descended on him like a hurricane of thunderous blows.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

Under the barrage of her attacks, the man was stunned and unable to retaliate. He tried shouting that he wanted to surrender, but Dera kept interrupting him with her wild, unrestrained laughter.

At this point, very few people dared to watch anymore. They already tagged Dera as a madwoman.

If they stared too long, she might attack them.

"She’s bullying an old man," Sera said, her brows twitching.

"It’s quite ironic. Isn’t it the older ones that usually bully the younger ones?" Ariana smiled faintly, completely relaxed.

"Times have changed, I guess," Sera chuckled. Then, her eyes narrowed as she saw one of the man’s companions approaching, along with two others.

When Dera sent the man flying, she arrested his momentum and stopped him.

"Old Gu, look at you being tossed around by brats. You have really fallen low."

She said with visible disappointment in her tone. Then, she raised her head and looked at Dera. Her bright green hair fluttered gently in the wind, but Dera paid it no attention.

"Hand him over! I’m not done with him!"

The woman, Esveath, felt her lips twitch at the girl’s audacity. Perhaps Old Gu was right. She really needed to be taught a lesson. However, she wasn’t here to fight. So, a little warning would enough.

Her expression turned frosty as she stared at Dera, slowly releasing her spiritual pressure.

"I’m afraid I cannot hand him over, girl."

Dera’s eyes narrowed, and she felt a hint of apprehension. This woman was clearly a Peak Master Stage cultivator.

Still, she only felt a hint of apprehension. After all, she wasn’t alone. Two other Core Master Stage auras burst out from behind her, followed by another that was in the Initial level.

Dera’s chin rose haughtily. "I’m still not satisfied and I want to beat the crap out of that man."

Seeing the situation turn like this, the woman was annoyed.

"Do you think you all can stand against me? Don’t push your luck."

She really wanted to avoid a confrontation if possible.

Sera’s eyes narrowed, and she decided to be reasonable. So, she sent a voice transmission message directly to Dera’s mind.

"Alright, let’s stop it there. I’ll handle it from here."

Though unwilling, Dera snorted and stepped back. Meanwhile, her twin sister stepped forward with a scheming smile.

"Since you’re unwilling to face us, we’ll be magnanimous enough to let you go. However, you must compensate the damage you have caused."

Hearing this, Esveath frowned. "Damage? What damage?"

Looking at Old Gu’s condition and Dera’s condition, it was obvious who was damaged.

Sera’s smile remained perfectly still. "Mental damage. That old fart abused my sister several times with vulgar words. Shouldn’t you compensate for that?"

"Are you serious?" Esveath couldn’t help but ask, feeling that these youngsters were ridiculous. Mental damage because of abusive words? What sort of thing was that? And why did she need to compensate them regarding that?

’Really. Today’s generation are a rotten one.’

Unfazed by her rotting expression, Sera nodded. "Yes. My sister has a frail heart and his words might end up becoming a heart demon for her of the compensation isn’t enough."

She glanced back at Dera, who immediately started talking.

"I want the corpse of a 500 years old Demon Bull, and a few thousand gold spirit crystals for the fact that he called me a bitch..."

Then, Dera went on and on, listing stuffs that stunned even Sera.
