Primordial Law Codex: I can manipulate heavenly laws
Chapter 14: Formless Spear Art!
Leon looked helplessly at the little girl who was full of excitement. "Before you learn to run, you have to first know how to walk. You have to first have sword qi, before it can transform into a bird. And before you have sword qi, you must understand what a sword is."
Amelia listened carefully as Leon took out another wooden sword and started demonstrating basic swordsmanship containing stab, slash and parry.
After a few rounds of correction, Amelia also started mirroring Leon’s movements, while Sister Coco just lay on the lush grass watching the brother and sister with its large eyes.
"Brother, rest time." After fifteen minutes of practice, Amelia was tired and she directly sat down on the grass while panting.
Leon smiled when he saw this. "Actually, every sword technique uses the same moves we just practiced, but in different ways. The only difference is the qi circulation pathways that have to be utilized for these techniques."
Amelia looked at her brother and asked eagerly, "Brother, show me that move. I want to see your sword qi transforming into a bird."
"Fine, fine." Leon nodded helplessly and waved his hand in the direction of the large tree at the side of the river.
Woosh.
A one meter long dark silver and crimson sword qi erupted from his hand and crashed into the large tree, creating a cut on the tree.
Amelia’s eyes lit up as she clapped her hands excitedly.
"This is sword qi. Actually, sword qi is just silver in color, but I have cultivated it by integrating it with my vital qi, that’s why it has a crimson color added to it," Leon explained before he once again raised his hand.
But this time, sword qi poured out from his hand and condensed into his sword spirit.
Screech.
The eagle let out a loud cry and flew towards the old tree, neatly cutting off one of its thick branches.
"This eagle is my sword spirit. I have used my body as a weapon and the sword qi I comprehended to create it," Leon said to the little girl whose eyes were now practically shining like stars.
"Well, I have two more weapon spirits, a hammer spirit and a whip spirit," Leon said with a smile. The next second, the large rhino and the serpent vine tendril appeared in front of the little girl’s eyes.
The rhino directly charged toward the large tree and slammed into it with brute force, making the tree shake violently from the impact. At the same time, the serpent vine tendril wrapped around Amelia and lifted her three meters above the ground.
"Wow!" Amelia shouted in joy when she felt herself being lifted in the air.
After playing around, the three of them only returned back home late at night.
"All the grievances gone?" Grandma Mercy asked with a smile when she saw Amelia walking over while holding her brother’s arm with her little face full of smiles.
Amelia nodded. "Brother taught me sword moves today. From now on, once a week he will take me and Sister Coco to the outskirts of the forest to train."
Grandma Mercy shook her head helplessly as she led the little girl and her pony inside the house.
Leon also returned to his room. He already decided to cultivate the last compatible technique, the Formless Spear Art, to perfection. With how the proficiency had increased by twenty five percent every time he added a technique to the Four Spirit Weapon Forging Art, he estimated it would be pushed to completion by today.
After flipping the pages from the start to the end, the Formless Spear Art was finally recorded in the Primordial Law Codex.
[Primordial Law Codex - page number 3]
[Owner: Leon (human)]
[Life essence points: 63707]
[Technique: Formless Spear Art]
[Technique grade: 10 star]
[Technique realm (mortal): 0/100 (entry)]
"Push it to perfection," Leon gave the command in his mind and the next second, new memories started appearing in his mind.
He seemed to have become a piece of metal in the hands of a blacksmith. First, the blacksmith forged him into a bow and sold it to a hunter.
Years passed and the hunter was killed by a bandit, who took the bow with him and reforged it into a long spear. But before long, the bandit was killed by a young cultivator and the spear ended up in his hand.
The young man used the spear for years and later when he became old, the spear was passed down to his son who became the new owner of the spear.
Year after year, the spear accompanied its master into the battlefield to slay demon beasts and evil cultivators. During this time, it was destroyed many times and was improved and reforged again and again.
At last, the young man who once fought demon beasts with vigor became a frail old man who could not even lift the spear properly.
Sitting quietly under the banyan tree, the old man looked into the distance as he stroked the spear in his lap.
"All my life I have cultivated countless spear arts and yet it took me one hundred years to finally realize that everything was just the same thing but with different names. As long as your spear knows how to pierce your enemy, that is enough. Everything else is just fancy moves."
Suddenly, an eternal aura surrounded the old man and the old man’s frail form gradually regained its vigor and his white hair turned back to black again.
At the place where an old man once sat with a spear, now there was only a middle aged man whose eyes shone with the same light of wisdom that was present in the old man’s eyes.
When Leon opened his eyes, there was a peculiar light in his eyes. Although he also understood the spear intent the old man had comprehended, he did not seem to quite understand what he actually understood.
When he first understood sword intent, he had a feeling that he had understood a blade. When he understood hammer intent, the feeling was that he had understood a hammer and the same happened when he understood the whip intent.
But when he tried to sense the spear intent he had comprehended, what he sensed was not a weapon, but a very powerful word or simply a thought.
’Pierce.’
This spear intent was just a thought. Even when he tried to normally call out his spear qi, there was practically no reaction. Only when he thought about piercing through the wooden wall in front of him did the spear qi actually mobilize into the shape of a small water droplet in front of him.
Leon’s brows frowned. Although the droplet condensed out of spear qi in front of him was just the size of a bead, he could feel the immense penetrative power hidden inside it.
"The spear qi has nothing to do with a spear, instead it is centered around the actual purpose of a spear. It is no wonder this technique is called Formless Spear Art," Leon mumbled to himself as he gave the command to merge this technique with the Four Spirit Weapon Forging Art.
The next second, a new set of qi circulation pathways began to be constructed all around his body and the surrounding qi rushed into his body at an alarming rate.
Leon clenched his fist, and he felt as though he was strong enough to shatter a stone with his fist alone.
"Now, what shape do I have to give my spear spirit?" Leon fell into a dilemma when he thought about this step.
He had to have a thorough grasp of the relation between the weapon and the thing he was going to give as the shape of his weapon spirit. Due to the Twin Eagle Saber Art being related to the eagle, he was able to give the shape of an eagle to his sword spirit. The same went for the rhino and the serpent vine.
When it came to the Formless Spear Art, he did not have a definite thing to relate this qi to. Of course, he could simply give the shape of a spear as the spear spirit, but that seemed somewhat ordinary compared to his other weapon spirits.
"A spear qi that is centered around the thought pierce, what shape will be most suitable for it?" Leon thought for a long time, but he did not find any idea that satisfied him.
Just then, the Primordial Law Codex opened before his eyes and a note appeared at the bottom of the second page.
[Spent 20000 life essence points to create the best spear spirit from your memory. Do you wish to proceed?]
"Twenty thousand, that is really expensive," Leon thought as he rubbed his chin. But since he had around sixty thousand life essence points in his hand, he did not ponder much about it and gave the command to proceed.
The next second, twenty thousand life essence points were deducted and a scene from his previous life suddenly flashed in his mind.
In this memory, a shirtless middle aged man with tattoos covering his upper body was standing before a group of people holding swords and knives with a smirk on his face.
"You did not expect such a day, right?" one of the men who wore a stylish suit and cool sunglasses said with a mocking grin.
The middle aged man shook his head. "No, I did expect this. Look, I even brought a gift for you."
Everyone looked at the ground where a black cloth was covering something underneath.
"What trick are you playing now, Leo?" the man with the cool sunglasses squinted his eyes.
The middle aged man laughed out loud and removed the cloth from the object on the ground.
