Prodigal System in the Flourishing City
Chapter 1536 - 1538: Something’s Off
What surprised Lu Xiaobu was that although Bao Wu said he was a teacher, he didn’t take him to a classroom, but walked straight out of Nanshan Academy.
And leaving Nanshan Academy wasn’t the end of it; they were still heading out of the city.
Along the way, there was constant chatter around Lu Xiaobu.
He couldn’t help it; his double bed was too eye‑catching, and the people of Nanshan City had long since linked the double bed with the Slap Maniac.
"Look, look, that’s the Slap Maniac."
"What’s he doing? Is he being expelled from Nanshan Academy?"
"Quite possible! He hit a teacher and even hit the City Guard Army, no one can save him now!"
"Who’s that in front? Bao Wu?"
"Who else could it be!"
"He’s really someone you both love and fear!"
"Yeah! With Bao Wu personally escorting the Slap Maniac out, we can all rest easy."
Listening to the discussion around him, Lu Xiaobu shook his head, too lazy to bother with them.
What he cared about instead was that the residents here all seemed to know this Bao Wu. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
He’s that famous?
Bao Wu clearly didn’t care about these comments either; he led Lu Xiaobu straight out of Nanshan City.
What they didn’t notice was that after they left, three people also slipped out of Nanshan City following behind them.
And there was a City Guard Army soldier staring at Lu Xiaobu’s back full of venom, then running up onto the city wall to do who‑knows‑what.
...
Bao Wu pushed forward along the road, moving very fast.
While hurrying along, he also sized up this guy who looked every inch the spoiled rich kid.
But to his surprise, this pale, delicate‑looking kid actually followed right behind him without flushing or panting, not showing the slightest sign of fatigue.
That couldn’t help but make Bao Wu a little surprised—his physical fitness wasn’t bad at all.
Very soon, they arrived in front of a small grove.
"Let’s go."
Bao Wu didn’t stop and continued forward.
Before long, they walked into a simple, rough camp.
Lu Xiaobu looked around and found there were twelve people here. Some were sitting, some leaning, but light flashed in their eyes every time they opened and closed.
Obviously, they were completely different from those other students back in the academy.
The most eye‑catching among them was clearly the only girl.
"Teacher."
These people stood up and greeted Bao Wu.
"Mm, this is the person I brought. He’s Lu Xiaobu, the Slap Maniac." Bao Wu stepped aside and introduced.
"Oh?!"
At Bao Wu’s introduction, light flared in the eyes of the twelve people as they stared at Lu Xiaobu.
"So you’re the Slap Maniac?!"
"You look so pale and clean—can you really do something like that? Don’t tell me it’s just that your family’s powerful and no one dares mess with you! That kind of thing doesn’t fly here!"
"No, wait, I heard he’s from Linren City! What big shot could come from that place? Not even as impressive as my dad!"
"That’s true. Which makes it weird—how’d he pull it off then?"
"Could it be that he looks ordinary, but is actually a master?!"
"..."
"Alright, quiet down!" Bao Wu said casually. "Where are the Rabbits I told you to prepare?"
"They’re over there, all stripped bare, Teacher. You didn’t see the miserable looks on their faces, like their dads just died! Hahaha!"
A short but wiry boy burst out laughing.
When Lu Xiaobu heard that, his brows rose.
From that description, that didn’t sound like Bao Wu’s so‑called Rabbits.
"Good, nothing unexpected happened then." Bao Wu said lightly.
"There was one thing—some kid volunteered to be a Rabbit." The lone girl stood up and spoke.
"Oh? Pretty gutsy. Fine." Bao Wu nodded, not asking who it was, just giving a faint nod.
"Let me explain. This is my class’s entrance exam: survival." Bao Wu calmly introduced to Lu Xiaobu.
"Yeah, the twelve of them hunt a few of us. If you get caught, you’re out. If you don’t get caught—or you beat some conditions out of them—you pass. That about right?"
Lu Xiaobu spoke while yawning.
As soon as those words came out, everyone froze.
"Uh... how do you know?!" The short guy stared at Lu Xiaobu in a daze. "We just came up with this plan."
The rest of them also gaped at Lu Xiaobu, clearly baffled as to how he knew!
If they didn’t know that Teacher Bao Wu would never spill it in advance, they’d have thought Bao Wu had sold them out!
Even Bao Wu himself felt a bit depressed.
They had only just arrived here, and the other Rabbits were all locked up off to the side—so how did Lu Xiaobu guess it?!
"So lame! This routine is everywhere!" Lu Xiaobu rolled his eyes.
This kind of setup was already played to death in web novels ten years ago, okay?!
"This..."
They didn’t know what "lame" meant, but from his tone they could hear the thick disdain!
"Good, very good. Just so you know, I’ve got my eye on you!" The short guy’s face flushed red—he was clearly one of the masterminds behind the idea.
He’d been quite proud of it, but now that Lu Xiaobu had ripped it apart so bluntly, he’d completely lost face.
Obviously, he was going to give Lu Xiaobu some special attention later!
The others also gave Lu Xiaobu a deep look. It wasn’t just the short guy who’d lost face; they all had!
"Then I’ll go over the win conditions." Bao Wu said in a muffled voice.
"No need. I just have to take all of them out." Lu Xiaobu waved his hand and walked off.
His words instantly ignited everyone’s anger.
"What?! He actually said he’s going to take all of us out?!"
"Does he have any idea who we are?!"
"Motherfucker! This kid’s arrogance has no limits!"
"Forget the other Rabbits, target him! Let him see what we can do!"
"Yeah! Get him!"
"..."
They were really pissed.
Ever since they’d joined Bao Wu’s class and gone through life‑and‑death trials again and again, no one in the entire Nanshan Academy dared talk to them this arrogantly.
Not their peers, not the upperclassmen, not even the City Guard Army!
And now, someone they regarded as a Rabbit dared to be this arrogant with them?!
He was really asking to die!
Even Bao Wu felt that Lu Xiaobu was a bit too arrogant!
He’d taught plenty of problem students, but never one this problematic!
Only the lone girl, relying on a woman’s natural intuition, sensed that something was off—but she couldn’t say what exactly.
What was off?
They were clearly meeting for the first time, so how could she have this feeling?!
What was it?
Suddenly!
Her pupils shrank sharply!
That’s it!
She’d figured out what was off!
This Lu Xiaobu—wasn’t normal!
