Chapter 127: Treatment Deal
Fengyu saw the man look destroyed while his mother was actually surprised and delighted.
"Junior, you can really heal my son so fast?"
"Yes, but as I said, only the shoulder..."
"That’s fine, that’s fine! The shoulder is exactly what’s worrying. It’s fine if he doesn’t walk as fast, he can get help. But if he can’t use his arm, then..." the mother shook her head, and Fengyu understood.
Such a person would be useless.
While it might seem that a cultivator would need to use his body less and less in every interaction with the introduction of various spells, in fact, this is just a superficial thought.
Every small action can be the trigger of a spell, even if it’s tapping on the corner of a cauldron during alchemy, it might actually be the way you activate a certain rune inside the cauldron.
What does this mean? It means that the use of hands is extremely important for creation arts, while the use of legs is more important for battle arts.
In conclusion, not being able to use the leg for a few decades was fine, but not using one arm even for a few years would be a huge waste of time.
Fengyu nodded once more, "The treatment isn’t exactly difficult. It’s just going to be painful and arduous for senior’s son, but this matter..."
"My son can withstand it!" the mother said right away, patting her son’s shoulder.
"Let us arrange this healing. When you’re healed, you can go back to learning sewing! Sewing for a few decades will calm your mind and allow you to refine yourself more, there is no need to be so sad about it!" the mother patted her son several times - having the business of sheep herding, she had a lot of wool and always wanted her descendant to learn how to sew, maximising the income of their small family. Her son had this talent, so she would support him as much as possible!
Fengyu looked at the interaction but said nothing, not caring about the path of others nor the fact that sewing might still require the use of legs. But well... only one leg was destroyed, the other could still work!
’These families... to the outside they seem lucky, but aren’t the responsibilities extremely heavy too?’ while to him the responsibility didn’t seem high, for a spoiled cultivator who went through everything easily, this would be a drastic change in life.
"Junior, I am extremely grateful for this! I have three rewards I planned for the junior who could treat my son - 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
First, the total reward is 100.000 spirit stones! 10.000 will be paid now, 10.000 every month and the final sum together after he recovered.
Secondly, it is the whole wool of a second-stage low-grade sheep which can be used to sew a second stage robe!
And the third reward is... well, I only added this reward because junior is a fellow herder. I will give you three spells regarding herding, one of them being of the second stage, which junior will only get after the healing was successful!" the senior made a huge promise right away.
This wasn’t a "you can choose one of the three" situation - no, she promised all three rewards to Fengyu!
Fengyu looked deeply at her, realising for the first time how generous this person was, but he also knew that in fact... the reward was huge for him, but it was below average for the full treatment from a second-stage doctor!
So, this mother likely wanted to give her son the best, but she still wanted to save resources while doing so!
Fengyu didn’t complain but nodded in agreement, "We can do this deal! I live in the field SE-84. I ask the senior to send this fellow daoist with a contract and the first payment!" he made a deal right away, unwilling to delay it.
"Then it shall be done like that!" the mother said in satisfaction, tapping her son and telling him to rise so that she could take him away and get treatment soon.
It wasn’t that he didn’t know the situation was helpless... it’s just that this was the first person who told him face to face how bad his situation was!
Fengyu was just about to walk away when he saw the twins approach him together with another cultivator.
"Senior brother, this fellow daoist just came to us... he wanted to greet you and ask you a few things..."
Fengyu nodded and listened to the cultivator. The gist was easy to see - he subtly hinted at the idea that he would like to rent the field of Fengyu, and that he could rent a large piece and would protect his own field without requiring anyone’s help.
There was no need to think much. Fengyu rejected this suspicious guy and pulled the twins away, telling them not to bother with such people. The twins agreed and said that they only did so because he was the owner of the field and they just lived with him.
Such a matter was solved very quickly and Fengyu mingled among the cultivators again, the attention he received before led to him actually being invited to skip a few lines!
Taking this opportunity, he greeted all the seniors even if he didn’t need anything, simply making his face known to more cultivators.
Among them was a senior at the second stage who lived close to his field - field SE-78!
Fengyu paid special attention and took out the gifts he had prepared beforehand - all duck items of higher quality. It wasn’t of high value, but it was a testament to his sincerity.
The senior accepted it, as well as gifts prepared by the twins.
After a round of exchanging, Fengyu was tired. He wasn’t a socially awkward person, but he didn’t like being around so many strangers and having to do those useless interactions with the seniors who had no fate with him.
Returning to his field, he breathed a sigh of relief and played with his ducks for a long time, refreshing his social battery!
