Chapter 153: Getting a Doctor’s Office
The benefits and obligations were fair, so Fengyu had no reason to reject this. He agreed to work in the hospital.
Taking Fengyu’s token, he pressed it on his jade tablet and tapped a few things.
A moment later, he took out a piece of paper and pressed it on the tablet too - slowly words appeared on the paper. Handing it over to Fengyu, he said with a smile, "Please sign the contract. with a thumbprint"
Fengyu was a bit surprised at the meticulousness of this procedure. Looking over the contract revealed that it was basically exactly what he had been told, only in a lengthier manner. After a moment’s consideration, he saw nothing wrong with it. Using a small blade, he created a cut on his left hand, then pressed his right thumb on it, allowing the blood to soak it for a moment, before he turned to the contract, about to sign.
Just then he saw the cultivator across take out a small ink bottle...
Chuckling, Fengyu simply signed with his blood.
"Doctor Fengyu is a bit ruthless," Hong Hulang laughed while pressing the contract on the tablet, as if scanning it.
A moment later he handed over the contract to Fengyu, "The contract has been formally signed and will be registered in our hospital. Doctor Fengyu, would you like to make arrangements for treating patients right away?"
"Yes, let’s not waste time. I will work in the hospital for... two hours daily." Fengyu had his schedule in mind - two and a half hours were open every day. Initially he might’ve chosen to do only one hour, but he got 100 spirit stones an hour!
Such a large sum should not be missed, so he directly doubled it, cutting off the extra time he would’ve used for something else anyways.
"That’s great! Do you have a specific time so we can book a doctor’s office for you always?"
"Yes, let’s do one to three pm," Fengyu thought that this was the only short time he wasn’t particularly busy nor had many things to do in the middle of the day, so he could do it in that time.
"That’s a very busy hour, a good choice for Doctor Fengyu." Director Hong nodded and tapped a few times.
"I have arranged for Office 17 to be assigned to Doctor Fengyu," he said after having completed the steps, "this office is on the right as it’s an uneven number. It’s a normal sized office with no special equipment."
Just as Fengyu nodded, the director asked about another matter, "Does Doctor Fengyu have any attendants or disciples, or need them?"
"I have neither and currently I don’t need them either. My healing is rather quick, each session only taking five to ten minutes, so there is really no need for anyone to help me." Fengyu rejected this for now, thinking he might consider it at a later time.
"Great! Then that’s solved. It’s just become one pm, so if Doctor Fengyu wishes to start today, you can do so right away! I’ve already made a profile for Doctor Fengyu, you only need to sign up for work to get assigned patients."
Hulang seemed eager to see Fengyu work, and Fengyu thought that he might as well earn those 200 spirit stones, so he agreed to this and was led out of the room.
"Oh right, here’s the badge!" the director seemed to have remembered something and walked back, returning with a wooden box containing a jade badge. It was a round badge with a symbol of vitality hovering over the body of an injured beast.
"Doctors have to wear it in the hospital." he explained.
Fengyu didn’t mind and simply hung it from his waist, adding it to the small jade decoration he usually wore.
Back on the first floor, the director led him to his office, "You can simply open it by holding your jade token on this key," Hong said gesturing to a small opening in the wall made of jade.
Fengyu took out his token and put it into the space, still holding it with his hand.

The door actually opened for Fengyu, revealing a large room inside. There wasn’t much, just a pair of chairs and a table, a raised bed for patients to lay on, and a large open space to the side, the ground there patted, a wooden floorboard contrasting to the otherwise bluestone floor.
There was also a small counter with a jade tablet in the back. Taking his token, Fengyu walked up to the tablet and put it in the opening. Instantly a jade screen appeared above the tablet, revealing to him a few things.
It looked like a small system connected to the hospital’s system, with three pages - his profile, his patient list, and a communication tab.
In the patient list there was also a button to switch the office’s status between open and closed.
Fengyu pressed on it, formally opening his office for the first time!
"Then I will leave Doctor Fengyu alone for now!" the director said after seeing Fengyu adjusting very fast.
"Haha, I apologise for my ignorance," Fengyu apologised then saw the director off.
Just as he turned around, he saw a patient appearing on his list -
It was a goat beast who had fallen off a mountain when it was outside, its back torn and hurt. Fengyu could decide whether to accept or pass on this patient.
He thought it was simple and pressed on accept.
Just a minute after doing so, a goat was accompanied by a guide, entering his office.
As they entered, Fengyu stood up and said, "Here, come stand on this platform so I can see your back."
Just as the guide was about to translate, he was shocked to see that the goat already walked over.
Fengyu also walked over and looked at the wound, seeing that it had been partially cleaned already and could be healed right away.
He inspected the depth and how much it would take.
Seeing it wasn’t a serious issue, he quoted a price, "One hundred spirit stones for a full recovery."
The goat agreed to the quoted price.
