Chapter 41: Potential Affinity Level

Sebastian let out a sigh and slowly nodded. If that was truly what Edmund ordered him to do, then he had no other choice but to go.

The man excused himself and left Edmund’s study, leaving Sera and the others behind in the room.

Sera turned forward. "So, why did you call all of us here?"

"The registration for new students will open soon. I think it’s time for all of you to focus on passing the entrance exam for the lowborn category."

The woman smiled faintly. "I thought you didn’t really care about something like that."

"I do think about it, but since the registration period is getting closer, we need to prioritize it," Edmund replied.

"Viscount Edmund?" Denise asked, standing from the sofa while raising her hand.

"Just Sir Edmund. What is it, Denise?"

"When we’re at Livden Academy, can we still take guild missions like we do now?"

"Unfortunately, you can’t," Edmund answered.

Natalie, Denise’s instructor, explained how Livden Academy operated. Sera sat in her chair, picked up a bottle of wine, and poured it into Edmund’s glass, not for him, but for herself.

"While you’re in the academy, you’ll earn student points."

"What does that mean?" Leonor asked while looking at Natalie.

"Student points are the currency used at Livden Academy. You can buy anything there because the academy provides everything."

"From food to clothing boutiques. Everything is complete," Natalie replied.

Hearing that explanation made Leonor and the others even more excited. At first, they had no idea what Livden Academy would be like.

However, after Natalie explained it so enthusiastically, they became even more interested in joining.

"Student points can be earned in three ways: getting high grades on exams, actively participating in academy events, and completing special academy quests."

"I can’t wait to join Livden Academy," Denise said excitedly.

"Me too. It sounds fun," Helena added.

"We’ll join the academy together. We’ll also stay together as a team," Leonor replied.

Denise and the others smiled and nodded. It was truly fortunate that they had become friends with Leonor, because they now had a chance to change the course of their lives.

It was not impossible that if they succeeded, they could eventually bring other orphanage children to join as well.

Edmund and Sera listened to their joyful conversation. Leonor also looked comfortable and happy around them.

Her brutal and cruel personality, like that of the demon race, was slowly fading as she continued interacting with humans, especially them.

"You’ll gain many advantages once you join the academy. People will see you as talented students, even if you’re only in the lowborn category."

"That’s because the Livden Academy entrance exam isn’t as easy as turning over your hand," Natalie continued.

Leonor turned and looked toward Edmund. "You said you were going to explain the entrance exam, right?"

"That’s right."

Edmund shifted his attention toward Sera. Sera, who had still been relaxing, looked shocked. "Me?"

"Of course. You understand it better, don’t you?"

Natalie and the other instructors did not mind at all. Leonor and the others started smiling while looking at Sera from behind. Sera turned around after realizing all their attention was focused on her.

"Alright then. Where should I start?" Sera asked.

She began explaining the five entrance exams for students applying under the lowborn category. The woman stood up, holding a wine bottle in her right hand and a glass in her left.

Just like Sebastian’s explanation, Sera started by telling them about the Affinity Potential Exam.

"The first exam is the Affinity Potential Exam. During this stage, the examiners will observe your affinity level. There are five common elements accepted by Livden Academy: Fire, Water, Wind, Earth, and Light."

"Then what about you? Why is your magic plant-based?" Edmund asked jokingly.

"Shut up, Edmund. I’m a Dualborn, remember?!"

"What is... Dualborn?" Denise asked.

Sera turned her attention back toward Denise. "Dualborn refers to people who possess superior potential in two affinities. There are two terms: Dualborn and Douvere."

"Dualborn are people who have two dominant affinities within their bodies. If they can combine those two affinities into one, they become a Douvere."

None of them understood. Edmund leaned back with both arms crossed over his chest, joking with Sera again.

"I doubt they understand. How about you just demonstrate it instead?"

"You’re so annoying, Edmund," Sera complained.

Sera raised both hands and summoned two different affinity spells. Earth magic appeared in her right hand while water magic appeared in her left.

With great precision, Sera combined the two affinities and formed a perfectly blooming rose. Leonor and the others clapped their hands.

"That’s amazing!" they praised.

"Thank you," Sera replied.

She turned and tossed the rose toward Edmund. Edmund was startled and hurriedly caught it.

However, the moment he gripped it, both spells dispersed and left his desk covered in dirt and water.

Edmund immediately stood up and tried to save the documents on his desk. "You almost ruined my work."

"That was my gift to you."

Sera turned back toward the others. "So? Does anyone have questions?"

Leonor raised her hand, followed by Denise and Nicole. Sera asked Leonor to speak first because she had raised her hand earlier.

"How does someone pass the Affinity Potential Exam?" Leonor asked.

"Only those with affinity potential levels above low will pass."

"Can we increase our affinity potential levels?" Denise asked.

Sera nodded while clearing her throat. "Yes."

"You just need to continue training with techniques or abilities aligned with your affinities. Slowly, you can increase your affinity potential level."

"Your training location also needs to be more specific. For example, water affinity training near a lake or earth affinity training inside a forest."

"What about wind?" Denise asked.

"You can do it on a hill with strong winds."

Leonor and the others slowly nodded, fully understanding Sera’s explanation about the Affinity Potential Exam. Sera then asked them to summon their status panels so they could check their affinity levels.

All five of them did exactly as Sera instructed. Leonor possessed fire affinity at the max level, while Denise and Nicole possessed wind affinity at the mid level.

However, among them, only Aya and Helena had low-level affinities. Aya’s affinity was earth, while Helena’s was water.

Sera observed them carefully. Leonor, Denise, and Nicole would probably pass the exam easily. However, Aya and Helena were uncertain.

The woman immediately turned to the side and looked at Edmund. "What do you think?"

"This is the reason I called all of you here," Edmund replied while standing and walking closer to Sera. "I want all of you instructors to start focusing on increasing their affinity potential levels."

"Especially Aya and Helena. They will be your responsibility, Lyla and Rosie."

"There’s a small lake north of Ulrich City. You and Helena can go there and train, Rosie."

Rosie smiled and nodded obediently. "Understood, Sera."

"I’ll take Aya to the palm forest," Lyla replied.

"You’re sure about that?" Sera asked.

"Yes. Besides the dense forest, there are also many wild animals there. That could strengthen the possibility of her becoming a summoner class," Lyla answered.

Edmund nodded and cleared his throat. "Alright. I’ll leave them to you. My soldiers will accompany and guard your training if necessary."

"Thank you, Lord Edmund."
