Though Sophia Wood was uneasy, she nonetheless left the hospital with Christopher Turner, leaving Alice Turner to chat with Isla Lane alone.

"Alexander! Go wait for me in the car." After sending away Christopher Turner and Sophia Wood, Isla Lane started to urge Alexander Shaw to leave as well.

Alexander Shaw knew what Isla Lane wanted to discuss with Alice Turner and understood that his presence would interfere with their conversation, so he didn’t say much. He nodded to Alice Turner and went downstairs to wait in the car for Isla Lane.

Once the others were sent away, Isla Lane and Alice Turner went to the emergency exit.

The emergency exit was a good choice for a chat, as it wouldn’t disturb the patients resting in the ward, and they wouldn’t be interrupted.

"Alice! I don’t know what exactly happened between you and Benjamin earlier, but please don’t blame Benjamin. He came to your home because he was upset." Isla Lane opened the conversation directly, without any lead-in or transitional language.

Recalling the earlier incident, Alice Turner’s heart was still trembling. If Benjamin Shaw had fallen and hurt himself seriously, her entire life would have been affected.

"I also have my faults. I shouldn’t have pushed him. It’s my fault he got injured, and I’ll cover all of his medical expenses." She felt it was her responsibility to deal with the consequences she caused.

"I’m not here to ask for medical expenses; our family isn’t concerned about that little bit of money." Isla Lane said with an air of wealth; in her eyes, those medical expenses were trivial.

Alice Turner insisted on paying for the medical expenses, feeling it was her obligation to compensate. "I know you don’t lack that bit of money, but it’s my actions that caused his injury, and I should cover the costs."

"Alice! Can we not be so formal with each other?" They were so formal that she had started calling her ’Aunt.’ Wasn’t that change in address too swift?

Isla Lane was used to Alice Turner calling her ’Mom,’ so hearing Alice Turner call her ’Aunt’ today made her feel uncomfortable.

Alice Turner didn’t realize Isla Lane was bothered by the way she addressed her, and thought she was referring to the medical expenses. "I am not just being polite; I genuinely want to cover the medical expenses."

"Aunt! Let’s not discuss the medical expenses anymore. You said you had something you wanted to talk to me about?" She shifted the topic away from medical expenses, worried that they would talk about it all night otherwise.

"Sigh! Alright, let’s talk about something else." Hearing Alice Turner call her ’Aunt’ again, Isla Lane couldn’t help but sigh. After sighing, she continued, "I don’t know why you two got divorced, but I can tell that Benjamin didn’t want the divorce."

When she saw her son earlier, she noticed he was in terrible shape, a state she had never seen before, and it pained her to see him like that.

He seemed fine just yesterday, and now he looks like this. It must be because of the divorce.

"The divorce was a decision we made together, Aunt. Please don’t worry about this; there’s no chance for us." Did that man not want the divorce? Is that some kind of absurd joke? From the day they got married, he had been thinking about divorce.

Alice Turner didn’t believe what Isla Lane was saying at all. She had seen Benjamin Shaw’s actions clearly and vividly.
