Ranaway From Wedding, Fell into Tycoon's Love Trap
Chapter 1108: What Exactly Is Going On
The three of them remained silent, and the car suddenly became quiet, creating an awkward atmosphere.
To break the awkwardness in the car, Alexander Shaw started talking with Alice Turner about work-related matters.
Seeing the other party chat with her, Alice Turner stopped staring out the window pretending to be mute and began chatting with Alexander Shaw.
The two talked passionately, while Isla Lane listened, feeling irritated and restless, yet she couldn’t directly interrupt them.
She wanted to chime in, but she didn’t quite understand what they were talking about; some things she hadn’t even heard of. It seemed almost impossible for her to join in.
As Isla Lane felt agitated, not knowing how to join the conversation, her phone suddenly rang in her pocket, and she immediately took it out.
Glancing at it, she answered the call, deliberately raising her voice to interrupt their conversation, "What’s up?"
A few hours ago, due to Benjamin Shaw and Alice Turner’s divorce, Charlotte Shaw had a few words with Isla Lane. Now recalling it, Isla Lane felt upset, and her tone unconsciously carried resentment. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
"I heard from Mrs. Qin that Benjamin got injured. Are you and Dad at the hospital? Is Benjamin’s injury serious?" After calming down for a few hours at home, Charlotte Shaw felt she shouldn’t have had such unpleasantness with her mother as a younger member. She drove back to her parents’ house to apologize, but upon returning, she heard the news about her brother Benjamin Shaw being injured and hospitalized.
Listening to the person on the phone inquire about Benjamin Shaw’s injury, Isla Lane couldn’t help but sigh, "Moderate concussion."
Having finished chatting with Alice Turner just now, Isla Lane felt uneasy about the injured Benjamin Shaw and returned to the hospital room to check on him. She had just reached the room’s door when she overheard the conversation between Easton Holmes and Benjamin Shaw.
It was then she learned Benjamin Shaw had sustained a concussion, and a moderate one at that. Her heart instantly skipped a beat.
She intended to push the door open to check on him but hesitated, recalling what had just happened, fearing she might upset her son further. She fought the urge to enter.
"Moderate concussion?"
"Moderate concussion? That’s serious; which hospital is Benjamin in?" both Alexander Shaw and Charlotte Shaw exclaimed, especially Charlotte on the phone who hadn’t expected Benjamin Shaw to suffer a moderate concussion, feeling considerably worried.
Alexander Shaw wasn’t quite aware of Benjamin Shaw’s condition. Having seen him apparently fine earlier in the room, he didn’t ask further. Now hearing Isla Lane mention a moderate concussion, he felt slightly surprised and couldn’t help but worry.
Isla Lane turned to face Alexander Shaw, glancing once at Alice Turner in the backseat before speaking to the person on the phone, "You don’t need to come over; your dad and I will head home soon. Just wait at home—I have something to discuss with you."
A lot had happened today, and she needed to have a good talk. Some matters she couldn’t decide on her own, needing to discuss thoroughly with her family.
"You’re all coming back; who is looking after Benjamin at the hospital?" Charlotte Shaw wasn’t sure about the situation over there, her concerns mounting.
Isla Lane glanced at Alice Turner out of the corner of her eye, her gaze now devoid of its previous warmth, "Easton is taking care of your brother at the hospital."
Having someone else care for her son, as a mother, made her feel uneasy.
"How is Easton at the hospital caring for Benjamin? What’s going on here?" Charlotte Shaw sensed something was amiss across the phone.
