Ranaway From Wedding, Fell into Tycoon's Love Trap
Chapter 1151: I Don’t Want Her to Become My Subordinate
Alice Turner didn’t expect Autumn York to ask her that all of a sudden, but she wasn’t conflicted at all, because she definitely wouldn’t consider working at Thomas Fisher’s company.
She didn’t want to rely on family or friends to build her career; if she did, she would have gone straight to her family’s company or a friend’s company six years ago after graduating from university, instead of applying to other companies.
"Auntie! I’m doing quite well at my current company, and I have no plans to change jobs for now." She declined the offer with what she thought was the most tactful language.
"It’s great, but that’s still someone else’s company. Here, it’s our own family’s company. Once you’re here, Thomas will arrange a better position for you," Autumn York leaned over to look at Thomas Fisher and asked, "You will, right?"
She didn’t care what position Alice was in at her current company, but she would undoubtedly arrange a higher position for her. Autumn believed her son would have no objection and would agree with what she was doing.
Autumn York didn’t know Alice Turner well, but Thomas Fisher knew her very well. He secretly wished she would work at his company, so she wouldn’t have to work so hard, but he knew she would not agree; he was very clear about that.
"I won’t. She’s my girlfriend, and I don’t want her to become my subordinate." He rejected the idea decisively, without a shred of hesitation.
"Just because she’s your girlfriend, she can’t be a subordinate? Do you have any idea how many companies are eager to recruit Alice? She’s a rare talent and would be a great help to your work." Autumn York never imagined Thomas Fisher would reject her request. She was furious, angry that her son didn’t understand the situation and even more so that he would give up such an excellent opportunity.
Thomas Fisher was fully aware of how capable Alice Turner was and knew she was a sought-after talent. But he also knew she wasn’t someone who could be easily recruited away.
"Mom! I just want Alice to support me in life. As for work, it’s better if we keep things separate." He once again refused his mom’s request, maintaining his stance no matter how many times she brought it up, always following what was in her heart.
Whether or not she worked at his company, he would never blame her or be angry with her. He would only love her steadfastly.
Autumn York almost wanted to give Thomas a good smack, but there was Alice Turner between them. First, she couldn’t reach him, and second, she didn’t want to hit her son in front of others.
She glared at her somewhat clueless son and then turned to the person beside her, "Alice! Don’t pay attention to this silly boy. Feel free to come to the company; Auntie will make the decisions for you. Once you come, Auntie will..."
"Mom! Do you mean you’re very satisfied with Alice as a daughter-in-law?" Thomas Fisher interrupted Autumn York before she could continue, steering the conversation away from work and onto romance.
Autumn York had been solely focused on getting Alice Turner to leave her current company for theirs, without considering anything else. That’s what she had been contemplating.
Thomas Fisher’s sudden question threw her into a dilemma. She genuinely admired Alice Turner, who fit her idea of a perfect daughter-in-law.
But when she remembered that Alice Turner had been married before, and it was to Thomas Fisher’s good friend Benjamin Shaw, she suddenly hesitated.
Alice Turner noticed Autumn York’s struggle and hesitation, pursed her lips, and said, "Auntie! Can you accept me as Thomas’s girlfriend?"
