Rebirth before Apocalypse: My Whole Family are Bigshots!
Chapter 480: Atlantis
"What about under the sea?"
Something seemed to flash in Bai Xiqin’s mind, but she couldn’t remember it clearly.
Under the sea?
In the post-apocalyptic world, she had spent three years at the safety base without ever going to the seaside and had basically never left the Fire Phoenix Safety Base.
Except for going outside to look for her grandparents, she really hadn’t been anywhere else.
Yet when Li Mucheng mentioned the seaside, she felt as if something came to mind.
"Atlantis does exist."
Li Mucheng paused for a moment, merely uttering this single sentence, then said nothing more.
Bai Xiqin furrowed her brows and began to seriously ponder over the years she had spent in the apocalypse. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
Atlantis is a speculated underwater civilization, and its existence is quite controversial for humans.
In fact, it is just one of many civilizations that exist only in legends.
Their authenticity can no longer be verified.
Humans have not always been at the top of the food chain, and humans have only existed for about twenty thousand years.
While the Earth is several billion years old.
Over these billions of years, various forms of life have been born.
During this long period, the dominion of Earth has changed from one species to another.
Humans are most familiar with dinosaurs, which were once the overlords of the world.
But before the rise of human civilization, did other civilizations equally as prosperous really exist?
If they did exist, how did those civilizations disappear?
The records of Ancient Greece say that the civilization of Atlantis disappeared in a prehistoric flood and mention an underwater pyramid found west of Portugal.
This civilization, called the child of the sea, vanished beneath the waves.
Is there any connection between these events?
"Whether or not Atlantis exists, you must hand over those two elders of yours!"
As a teacher, Bai Zhengxuan had also heard of the Atlantis civilization.
But he didn’t want to know whether that civilization existed or not; he just wanted to find Wang Liu, those two elders, quickly.
"Heh, you can hand them over, but you must stay."
Li Mucheng chuckled softly, gently wiping the corner of his mouth with his finger.
The scent from the Bai Family was the most enticing he’d ever encountered, the blood and flesh aroma from them intensified his instincts to the extreme.
Logically, the stronger one’s superpower, the more alluring their blood and flesh would be to zombies.
But the Bai Family was different; despite their strong superpowers, the scent of their blood and flesh was immensely rich.
This aroma was irresistible to almost any zombie.
"Stay, your grandpa!"
The red flames surged from Bai Zhengxuan’s hand, attacking Li Mucheng.
Bai Zhengxuan was extremely furious, and the flames were equally scorching.
The sky had already darkened, and the blazing flames illuminated half of the village.
"Xiaocheng, be careful!"
Mr. Li, inside the bus, watched the scene in horror and quickly reached out, disregarding his own safety, trying to grab Bai Zhengxuan.
Afraid that his son would be killed by Bai Zhengxuan.
Bai Zhengxuan was emitting a fierce energy; placing a hand on him would surely burn someone, but Mr. Li disregarded that and threw himself at Bai Zhengxuan.
"Your son is already dead, he is now the Zombie King. Even if he still has memories, he doesn’t recognize you as his father. So why do you go to such lengths?"
Bai Xiqin moved her fingers slightly, restraining Mr. Li in place with control power.
Not all memory-retaining zombies are good Corpse Kings.
This Zombie King, Li Mucheng, is the prime culprit of turning the entire village into a Zombie Village and is the demon capturing and caging many survivors.
To human survivors, Li Mucheng is indeed an enemy.
If not dealt with, he will eventually become a nightmare for human survivors.
"He is my son!"
Mr. Li was bound in place by the control power, unable to move an inch, and though he used all his strength, he couldn’t break free.
There was so much he wanted to argue with Bai Xiqin about, like how his son was very well-behaved and studious when he was young, and so on.
But being restrained and worrying about his son, he focused entirely on breaking free, speaking concisely.
Li Mucheng glanced at Mr. Li in the bus, remained silent, his expression still indifferent.
Water started to swirl around him again, clashing with the fire, creating sizzling noises.
The noise spread throughout the entire village.
The village, under the cloak of night, was very quiet, not even the sound of zombies roaring could be heard.
A faint scent of blood lingered in the village.
Because it was the zombies’ mealtime.
Three meals a day, this was dinner time.
In each household, the survivors locked inside watched pale-faced as the zombies tossed in blood-drawing tools.
They also saw the bloodthirsty expressions of the zombies.
They heard the commotion outside but had no idea if the people outside could win!
Even if they won, it would take time to rescue them.
During this time, they needed to ensure they stayed alive.
So, like usual, the survivors picked up the tools from the ground, grabbing a relatively clean one to draw their own blood without caring whose it was.
At this point, people chose to forget about infectious diseases.
Those who didn’t voluntarily draw blood would be eaten by zombies.
Barely surviving, who cared about cleanliness and hygiene now?
Bright red blood slowly flowed into the syringes.
What once were simple villagers as a family had become a family of zombies, their eyes fixed intently on the arms of the survivors, waiting for them to place their blood at the window.
Thus, a zombie family’s dinner was secured.
Such scenes occurred in every house in the village.
This was Li Mucheng’s designated "dinner time."
Survivors locked up gave their drawn blood to the zombies outside.
The zombies outside didn’t have any family-bonding moments; they crowed together, competing to drink the blood.
Every house imprisoned at least five or six human survivors.
Every zombie could taste blood but not enough to fill their stomachs.
Their thirst for flesh and blood was endless, even if it burst their stomachs, they wouldn’t be satisfied.
The zombies licked the red blood off their decaying fingers, eyes still fixed greedily on the survivors inside.
Then, they waited.
Waited for the next meal.
Every day, they repeated today’s behavior.
After eating, they waited outside for the next mealtime.
As long as Zombie King Li Mucheng didn’t summon them, they stood at the windows, staring at the "food" inside, with bloodlust in their eyes.
While inside, people, without any meat, forced to eat spinach daily for blood replenishment, had to endure the zombies’ gaze.
The gaze that intently stared at food.
As if they could rush in at any time and devour them whole.
Even if they turned their backs to avoid watching the zombies outside, they still felt those scorching eyes and the occasional suppressed growl from their throats.
Day and night, every moment, all the time.
The immense mental pressure almost unbearable for them.
Terror, fear, despair.
