Rebirth: Clinging to My Possessive Magnate
Chapter 963: There’s a Shady Deal
Not to mention Hayley Cole being stunned, even Sophie Wilson herself was dumbfounded.
Their company won the bid?
This was way too unexpected, wasn’t it?
Sophie Lee was completely frozen, staring fixedly at Sophie Wilson’s back in disbelief. Had Charles Seymour’s reach already grown so long it could stretch right into the training camp?
But thinking about it carefully, at that engagement banquet between Charles Seymour and Sophie Wilson, quite a few big shots had showed up as guests.
Could it be that among those people caught in the candid livestream, some were actually major figures from the training camp?
As soon as this possibility crossed her mind, Sophie Lee felt her whole body go weak.
Her nails dug hard into her own fingers; only by borrowing that pain could she force herself to stay clear-headed.
Right, Sophie Wilson might be useless, but Charles Seymour had connections everywhere.
How could she have let herself lose her head over Lucy Wells’s matter?
Damn it!
She did like Young Master Bright, and she couldn’t swallow Lucy Wells snatching Young Master Bright away, but she still didn’t want to gamble her family company’s future on this!
No matter how much she liked Kai Bright, she didn’t like him enough to lose her mind.
Right now, Sophie Lee was trying her best to shrink into her chair, lowering her presence.
At this point, all she hoped for was that Sophie Wilson would forget she existed; she didn’t want to bring trouble down on her family.
Sophie Lee still had some brains left, but after the extreme shock, Hayley Cole had already been driven half insane with rage.
She looked at the people who had started packing up to leave and suddenly shouted, "Shady deal!"
Jason Cole lifted his head, his brows knitting into a deep frown. He had deliberately come along because he was worried Hayley Cole would pull some stunt; sure enough, she actually did it.
"Hayley Cole, watch your language!" Jason Cole snapped coldly.
Hayley Cole felt that she had really made a colossal fool of herself this time.
At the start, she had sworn up and down to James Reed that with this bid, she guaranteed he would win.
And now?
The bid James Reed participated in had actually been declared invalid, while Sophie Wilson’s side had ended up winning.
This was obviously shady!
"Why did Sophie Wilson’s company win the bid? Her quote was the highest—what company here didn’t come in lower than she did?" Furious, Hayley Cole had already forgotten her fear of Jason Cole and demanded sharply.
"Were the other companies’ prices serious?" Jason Cole’s cold gaze swept over the other companies that had bid alongside Sophie Wilson’s company, and all of their representatives turned their faces away in unison, not daring to meet his eyes.
Of course those prices hadn’t been serious—they were just trying to curry favor with Hayley Cole.
"Only Sophie Wilson’s company’s price was reasonable and normal, so naturally the bid went to her." Jason Cole said in a low voice. "If you have any objections to the result, you can file a complaint with the administrative supervisory department in accordance with the law."
"You think I don’t dare?" Hayley Cole shouted back, refusing to back down. "I’ll definitely file a complaint. This tender was completely unfair. Who knows if someone was pulling strings behind the scenes, using connections!"
As she spoke, Hayley Cole shot a vicious glare at Sophie Wilson and said coldly, "I distinctly remember someone was getting all chummy with people from the training camp just last night. Looks like those connections run pretty deep."
She was plainly accusing Charles Seymour of using his connections to interfere with the bid result.
Sophie Wilson smiled faintly, looked over at Hayley Cole, and said, "I agree with Miss Cole."
"I also want to ask the relevant departments to conduct a proper investigation into why, during this round of bidding, so many companies behaved so abnormally and came up with such bizarre proposals and price quotes."
