Rebirth: I have Monopoly System
Chapter 58: Company Meeting
"So tired! I was the one driving most of the time!" Wu Yun subconsciously pounded his lower back with his fist, which made Li Qiuliang flash a meaningful smile.
"President Wu, I mainly wanted to report to you that the initial 1,000 bikes have arrived at our warehouse. The R&D department is still testing the software connection, and we expect to be able to start promotions next week."
Li Qiuliang continued, "We’ve prepared two promotional plans and need President Wu to make the final decision."
After speaking, Li Qiuliang handed two physical folders to Wu Yun.
"Alright! I’ll go back to my office and take a look first. We’ll have a meeting to discuss it later!"
Wu Yun sat in his executive chair and opened the folders.
Li Qiuliang’s plans were simple. The first was to have their own employees test the system on the bikes, run a promotion, and then immediately begin a large-scale rollout of the shared bikes, launching in five cities at once: Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Rongcheng.
The second was to have their employees ride the bikes while inviting the media and other major online influencers to promote it, starting with a large-scale pilot launch in Rongcheng.
’These two plans are probably the main point of contention within the company.’
Wu Yun sent a message to Wang Hao, telling him to come in.
"Wang Hao, go tell President Li and all the department heads to be in the conference room in five minutes for a meeting."
Wang Hao nodded in acknowledgment, then turned and left, closing the door behind him.
Five minutes later, Wu Yun organized his materials and headed straight for the conference room.
By the time Wu Yun arrived, everyone for the meeting was already there.
Wu Yun sat down directly at the head of the table and got straight to the point. "The main purpose of today’s meeting is to discuss the pros and cons of those two plans."
"I just looked them over. The main point of contention is the scale and location of the rollout."
"Now, let’s hear your thoughts. We’ll start from the left and go to the right."
The head of the R&D department, Minister Ding Wei, sat up straight and spoke first. "President Wu, our R&D department has no technical issues. Whether it’s positioning or tracking, we can meet the demands nationwide. As long as we have enough bikes, I support a full-scale launch. That’s the only way to seize the market. I heard from a friend that someone at Capital City University has also proposed a similar sharing concept, though it’s only targeted at the student body."
"So, I think time is very tight. Although we have the first-mover advantage, unexpected things can still happen."
Wu Yun nodded. ’The concept for ofo’s Little Yellow Car was also proposed recently, but Chen Daiwei and his team are still tinkering with those few beat-up bicycles.’
’So Wu Yun wasn’t too worried about the Little Yellow Car catching up to or surpassing Nirvana Technology. At most, they would just be another competitor fighting for the market. The industry leader would definitely be Little Red Car.’
Next, Li Yan, the head of Administration and HR, expressed a different opinion. "Minister Ding has a good point, but I think we should consider our company’s actual situation—our preparedness in terms of personnel and materials, and coordination with the relevant authorities. All these things need to be taken into account. Starting with a pilot launch in Rongcheng to accumulate experience and train personnel is essential!"
Logistics Head Wang Wei also expressed basically the same view as Li Yan. His main concern was the severe shortage of logistics and maintenance personnel. When the bikes were rolled out on a large scale, the scarcity of deployment and repair staff could become a problem.
Liu Liang from the Marketing Department acted like a fence-sitter, saying his department would execute whatever the company decided. He just mentioned a few different promotional methods.
Sun Xue from the Finance Department talked about the company’s financial situation, estimating how much they could receive in deposits from the first batch of bikes.
Wu Yun turned his gaze to Li Qiuliang.
Li Qiuliang organized his thoughts and said, "Actually, everyone has overlooked one point. Our first batch is 100,000 bikes. Rongcheng has a population of twenty million. If we subtract the elderly and minors, let’s say we’re left with ten million people. Even at a coverage rate of one bike for every ten people, we’d need a million bikes to fully supply the city."
"If we deploy these hundred thousand bikes, it won’t even make a ripple. In fact, it could create a scarcity marketing effect."
"What I mean is, we should focus the launch of Little Red Car in Rongcheng. For the other first-tier cities, we should do a small-scale deployment. Firstly, this will achieve a promotional effect. Secondly, it will allow us to train our staff in advance. The time it takes for Little Red Car to gain traction will be enough for us to prepare the funds and personnel for a large-scale expansion."
Wu Yun nodded and said, "I still think we should send people to the other first-tier cities to set up outposts, but keep our main focus on Rongcheng..."
Afterward, the group discussed the details of the launch further.
By the time the meeting ended, it was already seven in the evening.
So Wu Yun said, "Let’s go. I’m treating everyone to dinner tonight. We haven’t had a company dinner since we were founded."
Wu Yun also let Qi Fei know his plans. He had already told her during the meeting not to wait for him for dinner.
When Wu Yun, reeking of alcohol, got back to his front door, he knocked.
A moment later, the door opened to reveal a face covered with a beauty mask. From the figure and height under the pajamas, Wu Yun easily identified her as Qi Fei.
He swept Qi Fei into a hug, but she immediately pushed him away. "Yuck! You reek of alcohol! Go take a shower! I’ll cut up some fruit for you!"
Hot water poured down over his head, and Wu Yun felt a wave of relief. During their few days living in the RV, water resources had been limited. Although he could wash up every day, showering was restricted. For one, there wasn’t much water, and for another, showering in a high-altitude environment could be risky.
He closed his eyes, enjoying the rush of hot water as the details of the earlier meeting surfaced in his mind. ’I’ve been preparing for so long since my rebirth. The first major venture of my life is finally about to unfold.’
’The final decision from the meeting was for Little Red Car to go fully online on August 21st. Today is August 9th, which leaves eleven days to test the system, run promotions, and discuss issues like parking and anti-theft measures with the relevant authorities.’
’Wu Yun didn’t need to worry too much about the future development of Little Red Car. He just had to handle a few key issues, like the security deposits and parking problems, and then wait for the capitalists to come knocking with money. Even if Little Yellow Car and Mobike launched early, Wu Yun wasn’t afraid. With the security deposit as his trump card, he was confident he could crush them.’
’It’s a good thing I’m going to check out that game company for sale tomorrow, the one the headhunter recommended. It’s time to expand into a new company. Oh, right, and there’s Qi Fei. For her future, I should probably set up a film and television company too. I could invest in some novels with major IPs, and in TV shows and movies that were huge hits in my past life. That’s another way to win the beauty’s heart.’
Speak of the devil. A knock came from the master bathroom door, followed by Qi Fei’s concerned voice. "Xiaoyunzi, are you okay? Why haven’t you come out yet?"
Wu Yun was about to answer, but he thought for a moment and held back.
When Qi Fei got no response from the bathroom but could still hear the sound of water running, she cast aside her shyness and quickly pushed open the unlocked door.
Wu Yun was standing naked behind the door. As Qi Fei pushed it open, he immediately shut it again, grabbing her from behind and making her let out a sharp scream.
"Senior, don’t be scared! It’s me!"
