Rebirth in the 90s: Melting My Devoted Mr. Iceberg
Chapter 1136: Nangong Sends Dishes
With the misunderstanding cleared up, Jiang Xue picked up the glass of water she’d just poured, took a sip, and then asked Lu Jintian, "Brother, when are your friends coming?"
"Xue’er, are you getting impatient? Are you hungry? How about I have them bring out a few dishes first?" Lu Jintian looked at Jiang Xue and asked with a smile. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
He was actually a bit hungry himself, but since his friends hadn’t arrived yet, it didn’t feel right to start serving the food.
"A little." Jiang Xue nodded. Just as Lu Jintian was about to call the waiter to serve the dishes, the door of the private room was pushed open and a waiter walked in, pushing a cart.
As the waiter came in, a wave of delicious aromas drifted into Jiang Xue’s nose.
"What’s this?" Lu Jintian stared in a daze at the waiter pushing in the dishes. He and Jiang Xue hadn’t even ordered yet, so why was the waiter bringing food?
Could it be a mix-up?
Thinking this, Jiang Xue and Lu Jintian lifted their heads at the same time to look at the waiter and then asked, "Did you bring this to the wrong room? We haven’t ordered yet."
The waiter smiled at their words and said, "These aren’t what you ordered. These were ordered by Young Master Nangong for you, and he asked us to bring them over."
After he finished, afraid that Lu Jintian and Jiang Xue might think he was trying to rip them off, the waiter added, "Please eat without worry, the bill for these dishes will go on Mr. Nangong’s tab."
As soon as she heard that Nangong Chen had sent them, Jiang Xue’s first instinct was to refuse. But after hearing the waiter, Lu Jintian gave Jiang Xue a long, deep look.
Just a moment ago Jiang Xue had said she hadn’t really talked to Nangong Chen, yet he’d gone out of his way to have dishes sent over. And not just any dishes, but this restaurant’s signature ones.
Of course, even if Nangong Chen hadn’t sent anything, he’d already been planning to order a few of the house specialties for Jiang Xue to try. Now that Nangong Chen had taken care of that, he could just swap out a few other dishes.
Thinking this, Lu Jintian immediately said to the waiter, "Do you know if Mr. Nangong is still here? I’d like to go thank him in person."
"I’m sorry, Mr. Lu, Mr. Nangong has already left. But he said his home is right over there in Chenyuan. If you and Miss Jiang are interested, you’re welcome to visit Chenyuan as guests."
"Thank you." Lu Jintian thanked him, then, seeing that the waiter had already set all the dishes on the table, smiled at Jiang Xue and said, "Xue’er, didn’t you just say you were hungry? Go on, eat."
Since Lu Jintian had already picked up his chopsticks, the refusal that had risen to Jiang Xue’s lips could only be swallowed back down. Forget it—since she’d already accepted Nangong Chen’s help before, accepting a few dishes from him now wasn’t a big deal. Anyway, once you have enough lice, you stop feeling them itch.
Jiang Xue glanced over the dishes on the table, her gaze flickering. Almost all of them were things she liked to eat. And Nangong Chen had even specifically added two dishes Little Reunion could eat, which made Jiang Xue look at him in a new light.
Who would’ve thought, a grown man like him could be this attentive, even thinking about something like that.
For a moment, Jiang Xue was a bit emotional and didn’t move her chopsticks. Just then, Little Reunion, who was in her arms, began to wriggle, reaching out his little hand to grab the spoon in Jiang Xue’s bowl.
Little Reunion’s movement brought Jiang Xue back to her senses. She picked up a small bowl and scooped some of the steamed egg custard that Little Reunion especially liked into it, setting it in front of him.
With food in front of him, Little Reunion perked right up, happily eating on his own, full of joy.
At this time, Lu Jintian received a call from his friends, saying they would arrive in just over ten minutes. So he called the waiter over and ordered a few more dishes.
