Chapter 1789 - 984: Warning Delivered in Person
The bell for evening self-study rang.
Under the beasts’ reluctant gaze, Yun Tingting left the court, carrying her badminton racket.
From the air upstairs came what sounded like sighs, and all those boys who’d been crammed together like sparrows on an electric wire dispersed one after another.
Whenever this happened, the boys of Class 3, Grade 11 couldn’t help straightening their chests, proud of themselves.
Even though Yun Tingting was ravaged by countless beastly gazes, she would always come back to the classroom at night; at least during this period of time, Yun Tingting truly belonged to them.
At this thought, the boys of Class 3 actually felt a kind of perverted pleasure.
Yun Tingting had worked up quite a sweat; heat was steaming off her whole body, the fair plumpness of her chest glistening, beads of sweat racing each other down the curves. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
Everyone knew that once sweat cooled it was easy to catch a chill, so she pulled out a salmon-pink jacket from her desk and draped it over herself, covering up the sultry body that was faintly visible through the sweat-soaked clothes.
Noticing all the boys’ looks, Yun Tingting gave a coy laugh: "I’m all sweaty, I’m afraid I’ll stink you guys out."
Immediately a boy took a loud, exaggerated sniff and said, "Fragrant, it smells so good!"
Someone else was intoxicated: "What’s stinky about this, it’s been this smell for all these years."
"The original, authentic scent!"
It was as if they’d been bewitched by Yun Tingting, their ability to think gone, transformed into slaves of the queen.
The other girls watching this scene had thoughts that were nothing if not complicated: envy, jealousy, and disgust all mixed together.
Yun Tingting basked in the praise, paused for a few seconds, then drawled, "Aww, but I really feel like I stink!"
A girl who was close to her said, "Look at Pei Yujing, she helps out at a barbecue place every day and she doesn’t stink at all—Tingting, how could you stink!"
On any other day, the one who’d get dragged into the teasing next would definitely be Pei Yujing.
Though she never really cared...
Class monitor Chen Shuaishuai had been planning to sit back and enjoy the show, when suddenly he remembered the threat of that citywide Number One.
He jolted.
On top of that, since Chen Shuaishuai hadn’t managed to get a bite of this swan meat called Yun Tingting and had instead been played hard by her, he was resentful inside: "Pei Yujing just smells like spices; you think you’re worthy of being compared to her?"
Yun Tingting’s expression froze; she opened her mouth, wanting to retort.
Chen Shuaishuai immediately cut in: "Alright, class is about to start, no more talking!"
A boy protested, unhappy: "Class hasn’t started yet though, has it?"
Chen Shuaishuai sneered: "You won’t eat more than three dishes in your whole life!"
Yun Tingting looked at Chen Shuaishuai, disdain in her eyes.
If this were a regular class, with Yun Tingting’s abilities she’d definitely be the class monitor; but this Chen Shuaishuai was just too much of a bootlicker, going to the office every day to curry favor, and even ordering classmates to carry water for the teachers—carry it only as far as in front of the teaching building, then he’d carry it himself into the office.
So there was just no toppling him!
The classroom fell silent; everyone started studying, and they all took on the look of an experimental class.
Pei Yujing gripped her fountain pen as she wrote, her face still cold; she clearly didn’t see Jiang Ning often, yet his influence was still everywhere.
She didn’t even know how she was supposed to repay him.
Just as her thoughts were drifting, a few figures appeared at the front door of Class 3.
Zhao Xiaofeng, dressed head to toe in Adidas, called out in front of everyone, "I’m looking for someone."
Chen Shuaishuai looked displeased and said, "Whatever it is, talk about it after class."
Deng Xiang pushed Zhao Xiaofeng aside and stepped forward; his whole vibe was actually back to that high-spirited swagger from freshman year when he blocked Class 8.
"You sure you wanna get in the way?" With just that one line, his eyes locked on Chen Shuaishuai, brimming with hostility.
Chen Shuaishuai couldn’t help feeling a bit guilty; Deng Xiang and his crew were not people you messed with. Back in Grade 10 they already ran wild—rumor had it that someone pissed him off and got taken off-campus and blocked; what exactly happened, nobody knew.
Plus, there’d been rumors lately that Deng Xiang, in order to make money, had done some pretty big stuff.
Zhao Xiaofeng offered him a step down: "We just need to say a couple words, won’t hold things up."
Chen Shuaishuai went along with it: "Then make it quick."
Deng Xiang walked into Class 3 with Ge Hao, took out his phone, and showed a girl something on it; her face went paper-white and her body began to tremble slightly.
Only then did Deng Xiang swagger away.
...
Class 8.
Zhang Chi was discussing something with Han Wen Nuan, his tone especially gentle: "Nuannuan, I heard your grades are really good? About how many points can you score?"
Han Wen Nuan might be poor, but her grades were indeed good: "The teacher set my target as Hefei University of Technology."
Zhang Chi’s face lit up. Aside from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, that was the best university in all of Hui Province.
Zhang Chi thought for a moment: "Have you heard of training loans?"
The concept was too ahead of its time; Han Wen Nuan was confused: "What do you mean?"
Zhang Chi patiently explained the plan to her: she would tutor a Grade 10 student in math, but the other party had no money for tuition; after that student’s grades improved, they’d pay it back.
Han Wen Nuan asked, "What if her grades don’t improve?"
Zhang Chi’s expression turned dark: "Then the consequences won’t be something she can bear."
Han Wen Nuan said, "No, that’s risky, you have to give me a deposit."
Zhang Chi gritted his teeth: "Every day after school, you tutor her for forty minutes, and I’ll give you 10 yuan. That’s the highest price you’ll get!"
Han Wen Nuan was overjoyed—10 yuan a day, that was 300 a month!
She agreed.
After sealing the deal, Zhang Chi swore viciously to himself that he had to squeeze a few more payments out of that debtor!
Acting class monitor Wang Longlong was watching over the whole class.
Bai Yuxia was studying hard.
Tongtong was sound asleep.
Only the foolish Chen Siyu was sitting in Jiang Ning’s seat, trying to soak up his wisdom.
Chen Siyu tilted her head: "Former class monitor, you seem really mad?"
Xin Youling felt like her heart had been stabbed at those words; it only made her even angrier.
Still, magnanimous as she was, she let the slight pass and said, "A middle school classmate of mine just messaged me, said she’s in a relationship now and they’ve kissed."
Back in middle school, Xin Youling had been class monitor and managed the class very well, becoming a kind of confession box for many people; even now, when they ran into problems, some of them would still reach out to her.
