Bella Green’s heart skipped a beat, and she remained silent.

The room was very warm, with plenty of heating, yet Bella’s icy hands didn’t warm up at all; instead, they grew colder and colder.

"I’ve already come. Can you release my parents now?"

Matthew Lawrence put down his wine glass, his fingers rubbing the glass, as if in thought.

"They actually claim to be your parents?" Matthew murmured.

Bella’s heart lurched, and she suddenly looked up at him, her face slowly losing color.

"What do you mean?"

Since she wasn’t the Green Family’s daughter, then she was naturally Michael Green and Chloe Johnson’s daughter.

Francesca Willis’ earlier words had been very clear.

Her biological parents were Michael Green and Chloe Johnson.

Matthew looked at her, his gaze tender, as if it could drown in water.

"Child, you don’t need to look at me so warily. I mean no harm."

After speaking, he paused, then slowly leaned back, his gaze becoming somewhat distant, as if recalling something.

"Chloe Johnson was the Lawrence Family’s maid back then. Nineteen years ago, she stole my newborn daughter."

"Mr. Lawrence has quite the skill in storytelling," she laughed.

Matthew looked at her without speaking, his expression completely calm.

"I’ve encountered danger multiple times before, wasn’t it all orchestrated by Mr. Lawrence? Now you come with this, do you truly think I’m foolish and easy to fool?"

Matthew’s eyebrows furrowed slightly, seemingly surprised: "Encountered danger?"

Watching his uninformed appearance, Bella’s gaze remained unfluctuating, as if she was already convinced he was the perpetrator.

Matthew shook his head somewhat helplessly.

"If I had found you earlier, I certainly wouldn’t let such things happen."

"I indeed know about this, including Emma Sutherland’s matter, but it has nothing to do with me." He shook his head.

Bella’s eyebrows furrowed slightly as she looked at him with suspicion.

"Getting too close with Louis Lawrence is indeed dangerous," Matthew said meaningfully.
