Chapter 2030: Chapter 1933: Unexpected Parents

Huo Sining instantly realized something was not right, and before she could react, the little chubby girl was already sitting by the edge of the bed, legs swinging, seemingly trying to climb down while reaching out with her hands and shouting towards Huo Sining:

"Ma—— Ma—— Hug—— Hug——"

The voice was even louder than before, making it hard for Gu Xu not to overhear. He couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow and fixedly looked at Huo Sining, his gaze clearly saying: Wife, I need a reasonable explanation.

Huo Sining’s face turned an unpleasant shade.

Early in the morning, she’d already been tricked by this thing multiple times. She always failed to learn the lesson; she should have thrown this thing into her storage ring if she knew this would be the outcome.

But now, it was too late to regret. Huo Sining lifted her head, looked at Gu Xu with a fawning smile: "Husband, I want to tell you something."

Gu Xu nodded, took a leisurely sip of coffee from the cup on the table, crossed his arms, and quietly waited for his wife to come clean.

"So, here’s the story, it was a dark and stormy night, so dark I couldn’t see my hand in front of my face..."

Gu Xu was suddenly filled with exasperation: "Get to the point."

Huo Sining chuckled awkwardly, "Well, I was in the basement doing stone gambling, and I cut out an egg from a piece of jadeite. Yes, the egg seemed to be alive and could both release and absorb electrical energy."

At this point, Huo Sining carefully glanced at Gu Xu. Seeing that he didn’t say anything and wasn’t overly surprised by what she said, she breathed a sigh of relief and continued: 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢

"However, it has quite an appetite and never seemed to be full. Once, I let it absorb electricity from a socket at home, and in just a minute or two, it consumed thousands of dollars’ worth."

"The appetite is truly scary. It’s not that I mind the money, but I was worried too much electricity would draw the power bureau’s attention, so I didn’t dare do it often and just kept the egg in my storage ring."

Hearing this, Gu Xu had some vague guesses and insights and couldn’t help but interject:

"So, last night, you took that egg to Jiang Weide’s cold storage and let it consume over a million volts of electricity?"

Huo Sining nodded, "I thought since the little guy never got full, might as well let her have her fill this time, so I didn’t limit her intake. Who would’ve thought, once I gave her permission, she went off like a wild horse, gobbling without restraint for over four hours."

Gu Xu wasn’t too concerned about Jiang Weide’s issue; he was more interested in the "mama" he just heard.

"I’ve already called about Jiang Weide’s case. Fucheng will take action soon. No one will cover for that guy surnamed Jiang, and he can’t escape the cost."

Gu Xu smiled slightly, yet looked at Huo Sining with a half-smile, "Your story is a bit long because you’ve said so much and haven’t gotten to the main point yet."

Huo Sining blushed instantly, "This is necessary buildup; the main point is coming. After the egg had its fill, I brought it back, then threw it on the sofa and went to bed."

"And then?" Gu Xu prompted.

"Then, in the morning, I was awakened by Wu Jun’s call and realized something was off under the covers. When I lifted the blanket, I found something on the bed that almost scared me to death."

Gu Xu frowned, "What was it?"

Huo Sining chuckled, bent over, and picked up the little dumpling that had sneaked down the bed. Without knowing when, it had already crawled to her feet, and she lifted it in front of Gu Xu:

"It’s this thing. This creature popped up out of nowhere in my room and kept calling me ’mama,’ scaring Yue Shuwen and Wu Jun half to death."

Gu Xu had indeed sensed something unusual in Huo Sining’s room, but this sudden zooming in of a dumpling to his face still gave him quite a scare.

But Huo Sining, in her usual mischievous style, held the little chubby one up to him and pointed to Gu Xu in front of the computer, saying to the chubby one, "Baby, this is daddy. Come on, call him daddy."

The little chubby one turned its head to look at Gu Xu, grinned, and actually cooperated with Huo Sining, jumping forward and calling out, "Da—— da——"

The entire computer screen was occupied by the little chubby girl’s big round face, and drool was almost dripping out of the screen.

Gu Xu was utterly dumbfounded. God knows, he was ready, waiting for his wife to return from Fucheng this time, to discuss with her about grandpa wanting to hold a great-grandchild, only now, before he could start, his wife acted so fast that she already gave him a child.

Seeing Gu Xu’s shocked expression, Huo Sining couldn’t help but burst into laughter, looking like a sly fox whose plot had succeeded.

Hmph, she had been in a panic all morning, and such a big "surprise" must not be hers to bear alone!

Having gotten used to Gu Xu’s calm and collected demeanor, seeing him so speechless and shocked was absolutely amusing to Huo Sining. Even after laughing once, she couldn’t help but shake her shoulders and chuckle again.

He couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow at his carefree wife, "Wife, I guess we’re all of a sudden parents. Is this chubby little girl really what came out of that egg?"

Huo Sining nodded, "Definitely, when I woke up this morning, the egg was gone, only a pile of broken shells on the sofa. But I’ve never seen how Jiaoren are born; turns out they’re hatched from eggs."

Gu Xu looked at the little chubby one and then at his wife, detecting the implied meaning in her words.

Jiaoren give birth by hatching from egg shells, does that mean if they, as a couple, were to have a child, they’d have to follow this process too?

Gu Xu was instantly taken aback.
