Reborn as the Sweetheart of a Paranoid Boss
Chapter 706: Testing My Husband with Parenting Questions
Though Sterling Norwood had no interest in so-called mother-baby programs, seeing Selena Kensington so engrossed, he still accompanied her to watch.
It’s just...
The mother-baby program that Selena watched invited some experienced parents as well as some new moms and dads.
To enhance the fun of interaction, the program had child-rearing experts present some parenting questions, and then let the experienced parents and new parents express the answers they thought of.
This episode’s interactive segment was quite interesting.
Because the experts didn’t just ask the questions and let the parents answer them immediately; instead, they were given time to think it over.
Moreover, unlike before, the fathers also joined the segment this time.
So Selena got involved in the parenting experts’ questions from the start.
It was only after pondering over two questions that she casually turned her head and saw Sterling Norwood leaning on the sofa with a calm and indifferent look.
Although his eyes were set on the TV, his gaze wasn’t actually focused on it.
He seemed to have no interest in this type of program.
Selena poked his chest.
Sterling’s originally drifting gaze immediately regained focus. "What’s up?"
He lowered his eyes and softly asked.
Selena thought for a moment and decided to test Sterling with some of the questions the parenting experts raised earlier.
"Darling, I’m going to quiz you on some questions."
Selena said with a twinkle in her eyes, sparking a hint of mischief.
"...Okay."
Seeing Selena’s smile, Sterling felt a vague sense of trouble inside, but he eventually agreed.
So Selena began asking Sterling with great interest.
"What would you do if the baby cries at midnight?"
Sterling answered without a second thought, "They won’t cry."
Selena was a little displeased; she felt Sterling was brushing her off.
So she raised her hand and pinched the soft flesh at Sterling’s waist. "I’m seriously asking, you need to answer properly."
Being pinched, Sterling didn’t get angry, just looked a bit helpless.
"Why would they cry?"
He even questioned back.
Selena was momentarily stumped by his question, and she eventually replied dumbfoundedly, "Babies cry... it’s their nature... maybe they want their mom."
After answering Sterling’s question, she realized she was supposed to be asking him.
So she was a bit annoyed again, "Stop changing the subject!"
With a smile on his face, Sterling leaned in and softly coaxed, "Alright, I won’t."
After mumbling a few times in his embrace, Selena soon forgot her anger and brought up another question.
"Hey, if the child wants to sleep with us, would you agree?"
Selena casually asked while poking Sterling’s chest.
Sterling’s expression darkened slightly, "Not a chance!"
After saying this, he seemed worried that Selena might get upset, so he softened his tone and added.
"They’re too young; what if I accidentally roll onto them? And having two in the middle is inconvenient. I’ll have someone take care of them; you don’t need to worry about them..."
As Sterling spoke, he saw Selena’s gaze becoming more mysterious and deep.
He paused, ultimately deciding not to continue.
Seeing him stop, Selena couldn’t help but scowl, "Who said they must sleep between us? We can place two cribs next to us."
"Why are you answering so eagerly this time? I feel like you’re a bit anxious..."
Selena eyed Sterling suspiciously.
Sterling coughed awkwardly, his gaze evasive, "No, I’m just being honest."
Selena didn’t believe him, scoffing lightly, "You don’t want the kids to sleep with us, do you?"
Sterling was silent for a moment before honestly nodding.
After nodding, he added voluntarily, "They move around and cry at night, it’s not good for your sleep."
Sterling knew how much Selena valued her sleep quality, and coupled with her crankiness upon waking, even he couldn’t calm her down when she was upset.
Thus, many times, Sterling would only dare to wake her or speak once she woke naturally or showed signs of waking.
Selena was genuinely stumped by Sterling’s problem, and she fell into deep thought.
After a few seconds, she tentatively replied, "I... I’m going to be a mom, I shouldn’t mind my child’s crying..."
When she said "shouldn’t," she paused noticeably.
And the conviction in her voice was diminishing.
Sterling, seeing her in such a state, understood everything.
Seeing her hesitation and uncertainty, Sterling couldn’t help but laugh.
It would have been fine if Sterling hadn’t laughed; once he did, Selena’s stubbornness resurfaced.
Suddenly she was filled with resolve, "Don’t laugh! If I say I won’t, then I won’t!"
She placed her hands on her hips, pretending to be furious.
But in Sterling’s eyes, she looked utterly innocent and endearing.
Selena was now speaking with such confidence and certainty. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
However, once the baby was born, she completely forgot all the bold statements she made during her pregnancy.

More than two hours later, Lark Mayfield arrived at the Norwood Family’s home.
She came alone.
Apart from her, she only carried a stack of documents.
Upon entering, she directly tossed the documents to Selena.
"This is what you wanted."
Selena hurriedly caught the documents.
Unfortunately, she wasn’t in the mood to look at this evidence, or rather, she didn’t plan to look at it at all.
Even if she did, the person who had left would not return.
What mattered more now was Lark Mayfield’s current state.
She seemed in an even worse condition than when Selena had last seen her.
Her face seemed to be covered with a layer of frost.
Cold and detached.
Yet at the same time, she displayed nothing externally, eerily calm.
It felt more like the calm before the storm.
Selena spoke first, "Where are Sidney Dalton and Roxanne Sutton?"
She glanced behind Lark Mayfield but didn’t see Roxanne Sutton.
Lark Mayfield glanced at Selena, then slowly spoke, "I released my control over him and erased my existence. Now, he only remembers parting ways with Roxanne Sutton in discord. As for Roxanne Sutton, she returned to Annelise."
After Lark Mayfield finished speaking, she looked at Selena.
"I’ve resolved your issue, now it’s time for mine."
Lark Mayfield’s gaze was too calm, yet Selena felt she shouldn’t be this calm.
By contrast, Sterling Norwood was much more composed than Selena was.
