Chapter 736: Brother-in-law is Beyond Help

Only two days after Chen Fan came to have dinner at home.

Pang Longhai was called to the bureau chief's office.

The bureau chief had a long, heartfelt talk with him, mainly concerning work issues, asking if he had any difficulties, and stating that if there were any problems, he could bring them up, and as the bureau chief, he would definitely help solve them.

Pang Longhai sat on the sofa listening, completely bewildered.

What was going on?

He had been here for almost 3-4 months, and the bureau chief had never been this enthusiastic towards him before.

Su Ruochu took the items out of her suitcase and put them away, then came out of the bedroom.

Chen Fan was on the phone, not sure who was on the other end, but it seemed they wanted to invite Chen Fan to dinner, which Chen Fan very politely declined.

"Let's forget about the dinner invitation. I'm not going anywhere today, my wife is back."

That's what he said to the person on the other end of the phone.

Su Ruochu heard this and felt a warmth in her heart.

Having just returned home from the mountains where she had been teaching as a volunteer, Su Ruochu seemed to still be adjusting.

Gao Xiaoxi leaned in and asked in a low voice, "Cousin, you went so far away and had to have a long-distance relationship with brother-in-law, aren't you afraid he might fall for someone else?"

"I trust him."

"Aiya, of course I'm not doubting brother-in-law, I'm telling you to be wary of those women who want to take advantage of the situation."

"What taking advantage? Who wants to take advantage?" Chen Fan came out of the kitchen carrying dishes, smiling.

"You two stop chatting, quickly wash your hands and let's eat."

Gao Xiaoxi secretly stuck out her tongue at her cousin, and hurriedly put down the photo album and walked towards the bathroom.

After the three finished lunch, Gao Xiaoxi, being perceptive, took the initiative to say goodbye and prepare to leave.

But Su Ruochu asked her to stay and play for a while longer.

Chen Fan smiled and said, "Your cousin and I are going out to play this afternoon, you can keep her company."

Hearing this, Gao Xiaoxi grinned and sat back down.

"Cousin, later when we go shopping, I'll go with you to buy some new clothes and cosmetics. You should learn how to put on makeup."

Gao Xiaoxi secretly offered suggestions.

"Although light makeup is good too, you should still wear makeup occasionally, you know, to give brother-in-law a sense of freshness."

Su Ruochu smiled and said, "But Chen Fan said he likes how I look now."

Chen Fan brought out some washed fruit and casually asked, "What are you chatting about again?"

Su Ruochu tattled, "Xiaoxi says my skin is dark now. Do you think it's dark?"

Chen Fan shook his head, "Dark? I think it looks great. This is a healthy skin tone."

Gao Xiaoxi dejectedly slapped her forehead.

It's hopeless.

Brother-in-law is beyond saving.

He probably thinks cousin looks like a heavenly beauty even if she's disheveled and dirty.

Su Ruochu picked up an apple and concentrated on peeling it.

Chen Fan sat beside her, watching this scene intently, his eyes full of doting smiles.

Canvas shoes, a plain white linen pleated dress. Her hair was now very long, cascading down like a waterfall, with just a light blue hairpin.

Her whole aura was elegant and ethereal, like an otherworldly fairy, or a lotus flower rising unsullied from the mud.

She lowered her head, her hair on one side falling to cover half her face.

Perhaps due to the volunteer teaching, Su Ruochu's figure was much slimmer than before.

She kept her head down, her long eyelashes blinking, as if plucking at Chen Fan's heartstrings.

Her profile was breathtakingly beautiful.

Chen Fan gazed at her, intoxicated.

Gao Xiaoxi, secretly observing this scene from the side, couldn't help but mutter in her heart.
