Reborn in the 1980s: Recapture My Devoted Husband
Chapter 1105 - 860: News of Mr. Mei’s Death (Part 2)
After much deliberation, Lin Wan decided to set up another branch factory here in Z City. During this time, apart from dealing with housing matters, Lin Wan was also focused on the issues concerning the factory.
Lin Wan favored a detached building, owned by the public, conveniently located near the clothing wholesale market. Although the place wasn’t very large, the building was somewhat old, Lin Wan had Ying Han look at it, and it could be renovated. It’s absolutely suitable for a clothing factory. Importantly, it also has a yard. Trucks can come and go with ease.
Although it’s not as spacious as the place up north, this location will ensure quality for the production line.
In the past two days, Lin Wan sought help from her second uncle to acquire this piece of land. It cost a total of fifty thousand. It’s already quite cheap.
Once she got the property certificate, Lin Wan quickly enlisted Ying Han’s help for renovation.
Meanwhile, she contacted the couple Mei He and Jason to prepare some equipment for her.
She aims to complete the factory’s planning and recruit personnel before the next season.
Thus, Lin Wan has been running around from morning till night these days, so exhausted that she can’t straighten her back. Once home, she can barely move.
"Mom, Dad said he’s coming back to cook today and asked my brother and me to massage your back. But recently, I’ve learned to cook a dish—tomato scrambled eggs. How about letting Xingxing cook today?" Little Star has been at home with Dingding all day; at noon, Han Yi took the siblings to the canteen for lunch.
However, in the afternoon, Dingding got hungry again, so Little Star boldly cooked tomato scrambled eggs for his brother at home, pairing it with steamed buns, which Dingding praised as delicious.
"How much summer homework have you done? Once school starts, you’ll be in junior high school, and it’s not as relaxed as elementary school. You’ll have early morning and evening self-study every day. The learning will be more intense." Listening to her daughter’s words, Lin Wan felt immensely comforted.
In her past life, she didn’t have children and couldn’t understand the joy they bring. In this life, having the siblings Xingxing and Dingding makes her incredibly lucky, as they are both especially obedient.
"Mom, I’ve nearly finished. Tomorrow I have a drawing class, and once it’s over, I’ll spend another day finishing my summer homework. My brother and I have discussed it; once I’m done, we’ll go visit Grandpa and Grandma’s house. Today, Tuantuan called us, saying he’s bored at home and inviting us over to play."
"Alright then, Mom’s busy lately and can’t keep up with you two. When you go to Grandma’s, you must not run around recklessly, understand?"
"Got it, got it. Mom, lie down. I’ll use my little fists to massage you." Dingding ran over from the living room, clenching his fists.
Lin Wan couldn’t help but laugh at his gesture. Though Dingding is small, his little fists are quite powerful. A massage from him can genuinely hurt.
"Did you disturb your sister while she was doing her homework?" Lin Wan rubbed her son’s head, smiling.
"Of course not, I was downstairs digging sand with the chubby kid next door, and upon returning, my sister had me clean the room. Right, sister?" Dingding blinked his eyes and asked Little Star.
Little Star giggled and tapped him lightly, "Speaking of cleaning, it was to tidy up the room. But you, you started without cleaning yourself off the sand, and ended up making the room sandy. I had to sweep it all over again."
"Humph."
Little Star’s words prompted Dingding to snort in defiance, resulting in sharper punches on Lin Wan’s back, causing Lin Wan to furrow her brows and exclaim in pain.
This little guy’s strength is indeed substantial; if he weren’t so young, Han Yi would have taken him to the army for training long ago.
When Han Yi returned home in the evening and saw his wife and children laughing and chatting in the room, he smiled contentedly and went straight to prepare dinner for them.
Now, he cares for nothing else but his wife and children around a warm stove, waiting only for the time to retire and travel across the country with Lin Wan.
Whenever Han Yi talked about retirement, Lin Wan would tease him, as he’s still far from retiring.
"Today my Mom called, saying my grandma’s health is not good, and asking us to go back for a visit." After dinner, Han Yi tucked the kids in and returned to the room to speak to Lin Wan.
"Hmm? Wasn’t Grandma still quite sprightly last year? She could even stand for quite a while." Lin Wan had spent New Year’s there with her children and Han Yi last year.
"She’s suddenly not eating much, and even if she eats, she feels nauseous. It’s been half a month now." Han Yi was prepared mentally, as per their conversation, his grandmother’s time is likely limited.
"Has she been to the hospital?"
"Yes, she’s been receiving IVs at home recently, mostly nutrient solutions. The doctor says that given her age, it’s beyond treatment. Alas..."
Lin Wan frowned, gently pulling Han Yi to comfort him; birth, aging, sickness, and death are normal. Lin Wan felt that Heaven wasn’t fair, for the elders of the Mei family, even into old age, underwent many ordeals but never seemed to have issues; their health remained robust. Bad people just always seem to outlive the good.
After Lin Wan’s lament, next morning a call from the Capital City came.
Her father-in-law said Mr. Mei was ill due to a perforated intestine, had just had surgery, and advised them to visit when convenient.
Han Yi responded to the call, but showed no intention of going. However, after just three days, another call from the Capital City reported Mr. Mei’s passing.
Only then did Han Yi take his wife and children to the Capital City.
Mr. Mei originally had a perforated intestine, given his age, the hospital was reluctant to operate, but thanks to his godfather reaching out to old friends, the surgery was performed. The surgery went very well but revealed some lung issues. With his leg already immobile and having had a stroke, this lung problem made things critical.
His breathing became severely impaired, relying only on an oxygen machine. Who would have expected, after just two days in intensive care, his condition suddenly deteriorated, and he couldn’t be resuscitated, ultimately passing away like this.
