Reborn In The 90's: Saving My Siblings With A Fishing System
Chapter 139: Jealousy
"You are too kind." Zhai Heng shook his head and sighed heavily. He believed what he said was correct. He had seen many instances where the parents were kind to an adopted child or the child of a relative. At first no one doubted it but in the end, it turned out that those kids were really children of the officials who kept insisting that they were not and that they had adopted them.
Zhai Heng felt that there was certainly something fishy about Han Ruochen’s mother paying more attention to her adopted daughter rather than her own children. Because why would a selfish woman like her care for someone who was not even related to her by blood when she did not even care for her own children? She did not seem like the kindly one to him!
Han Ruochen did not say anything. She stayed quiet, as she knew that the seed of doubt had firmly been planted in the head of her elder brother. She did not need to worry about anything else for the time being. Because among all her siblings, Han Yong was the one who was the least close with their mother. Now that his thought process had been directed in the right direction, Han Ruochen did not think that she needed to worry about anything.
Of course she was also paying attention to Yun Xinye and her mother’s actions but she was staying home and couldn’t be gone for days but her brother? Her elder brother did not live with them; thus, he had more of a privilege than her.
The three of them soon arrived at the Zhai family. The car swept past the guards standing at the entrance of the quad. After all, this was not a back alley deal like it was before; Han Ruochen was selling the golden moray to the Zhai Family and not the restaurant. There was no cutting of the line. This was direct-to-table delivery.
As the car came to a stop, Zhai Heng helped Han Ruochen out of the car while Han Yong went around the car and went to open the trunk. Though Han Ruochen had been to the Zhai mansion before, she still felt very much out of place. This building was way too big and the luxuries that adorned it were not something that Han Ruochen thought she could get used to.
While she was looking around, there was someone else who was looking at her through the balcony of the second floor. Zhai Muchen watched the black sedan pull inside the courtyard. He was actually expecting his brother to return soon after he left the house in a hurry but he never expected that he would actually see Zhai Heng with Han Ruochen and given how careful the man was being with her, it was clear that Zhai Heng felt something for the woman.
It was a good thing that he was a fool and did not know any better or else—
He did not turn back to look at Master Feng and said in a low, silky voice, "Go and get Ah Heng. Tell him that he has been running around for far too long and it is time for him to return to his room and start resting. And then bring Miss Han upstairs to my study."
Master Feng was quite surprised by the string of orders. He did not understand why the young master wanted the third master to rest when he was clearly full of energy, and why he called for Han Ruochen to his study. Should he not be going downstairs? However, even though he was confused, he did not ask the questions in his mind and bowed in response.
"I understand, young master."
He walked out of the room and headed downstairs.
Zhai Muchen watched Han Ruochen and Zhai Heng talking for a bit longer, but the sight for some reason irked him, so he closed the curtains and went to the study room.
Meanwhile, Han Ruochen raised her head to look up at the second floor. She did not know why, but she had a feeling like someone was watching her. She frowned even harder when she saw that there was no one there. Was she imagining it?
Han Ruochen shook her head; maybe she was being wary for no reason.
"Young master Heng."
A new voice joined them, and Han Ruochen turned to look at the old man who had walked over to where they were standing.
"Uncle Feng?" Zhai Heng turned to look at the butler with a frown on his face. He wondered why the old butler had come looking for him. Even though their parents were not at home, Uncle Feng had always paid extra attention to him, and whenever he stepped even a toe out of line, Uncle Feng would not miss the chance to berate him. Thus, even if Zhai Heng had quite a raucous personality, he did not dare to cross Uncle Feng.
Uncle Feng smiled at Zhai Heng. He first turned to look at Han Ruochen and greeted her, "Miss Han, it’s quite a pleasure to meet you again. My brother told me that you helped him quite a lot by letting her have that female matriarch crab. His restaurant had become quite popular ever since then, and he is expecting to see more of your surprises. I have to thank you for helping my brother." 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
"There is no need to thank me, Uncle Feng." Han Ruochen shook her head and waved his gratitude aside. "I didn’t do a favour for Uncle Bo. He bought the crab from me fair and square, and the price that he gave to me was also reasonable."
Han Ruochen did not think that there was anything special about selling the female crab to Uncle Bo. Anyway, he paid her for the female crab, and she did not do him any favour. So why should she accept Uncle Feng’s thanks? Han Ruochen did not dare to act above her station.
