Chapter 186: Punishment

Han Yichen closed his eyes and tried to calm his breath. He knew that his wife would go to extreme lengths to provide whatever Han Ziyan wanted, but he never thought that she would go to such lengths to provide for her. He breathed in and out before turning his attention to Han Ziyan. Elder Zhai was right; he was too muddleheaded.

He should have paid more attention to his wife since he knew that she was biased toward Han Ziyan. All along, he was the foolish one who thought that even if Meng Yunhan were more inclined toward Han Ziyan, she would never really hurt their children. Only now did Han Yichen realise that there was no limit to Meng Yunhan’s doting when it came to Han Ziyan; it was without a limit and the woman would do absolutely anything to satisfy Han Ziyan, even if it meant putting their entire family’s life at risk.

It was his fault for being too muddleheaded and not acting like the head of the house. He should have paid proper attention to these two women since he knew what they were capable of. He should have asked Meng Yunhan to take her savings out at once.

"Ziyan, you better work hard or else I will be so embarrassed that I will never be able to raise my head in the air again." Han Yichen sighed because of Han Ruochen; he could finally raise his head in front of Elder Zhai, but if Han Ziyan continued with her merry ways, he was worried that he might actually never be able to look Elder Zhai in the eyes again. Because the way Han Ziyan was living her life at the moment made him question himself as well as his teachings. He was sure that he taught every single one of the kids to be kind and respectful, so how come Han Ziyan became like this? 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞

Anyway, as long as Han Ziyan worked hard and did not cause any more trouble, Elder Zhai might forget the good things that she had done.

Han Ziyan paled at once when she heard her father’s response. What did he mean by this? They were talking about Han Ruochen and her shameless actions of smearing her reputation. Why did the topic turn around and become about her doing a good job? Why would she be the one working hard when Han Ruochen was ruining her life?

Han Ziyan pursed her lips. Initially, she was sure that she would ruin Han Ruochen’s good image in front of her father and then make the two of them uphold justice for her, but it seemed like Han Ruochen’s importance in her father’s heart was way too big. Han Ziyan was in low spirits and said to her mother, "Mom, I am going to my room. After working for so long, I am a bit tired and want to rest."

With that, she wanted to turn around on her feet and walk away, but just as she spun on her feet, she was stopped by Han Yichen. "Where are you going? Apologise to your big sister first."

"Why?!" Han Ziyan’s eyes widened in disbelief.

It was one thing that her parents did not stand up for her but it was another thing that she had to apologise to Han Ruochen. She was the one who was bullied today, so why would she be the one apologising? It should be Han Ruochen who should be kowtowing and admitting her mistakes in front of her and begging for forgiveness. Why should she be the one apologising?

"Do you really want me to tell you the reason?" Han Yichen was so angry that he laughed. He hoped that Han Ziyan would reflect on her own mistakes, but it seemed like it was an outcome that was close to impossible. He sucked in a breath and stated coldly, "You came home and used ambiguous words to misinterpret the entire situation. You told your mum and me that Ruochen harmed you, but where did she harm you? She did not even know that you were working on a job through bribery. Is that how you should be acting toward your elder sister?"

"What are you angry about? It is just a misunderstanding. We are all one family. Ziyan made a mistake. It’s alright; Ruochen is the elder sister; she should give in to her younger siblings once in a while. What’s wrong with it? Why are you acting so calculating, like she is an outsider?" Meng Yunhan hurriedly defended her precious daughter as she was worried that Han Yichen would wrong her.

Seeing this, Han Yichen snorted. "Scheming? Calculating? You first need to take a look at yourself and your actions. Just now, when Ruochen returned home, you did not even let her have a glass of water and jumped on her as if you were certain that she had committed a murder! The way you were interrogating her, it even chilled my own heart, much less hers. Who is the one acting like an outsider here?" Han Yichen turned to look at Han Ziyan and added, "Since you think that this punishment is not fair enough, just don’t eat dinner tonight."

Han Ziyan was speechless. She did not even get the money that she wanted, and now she was even punished with no dinner. Her eyes turned red, and she rushed upstairs with tears streaming down her cheeks. This was so unfair!

"Han Yichen, you are too much! Not only did you scold Ziyan, but you even stopped her from having dinner. Are you trying to drive me nuts?" Meng Yunhan stomped her feet and then turned to glare at Han Ruochen. She said to her, "It’s all because of you. Will you grow more meat just because you snatched a meal from your sister’s mouth? You...you are so heartless toward your own sister. I am chilled by your actions."

Han Ruochen simply sneered when she heard the scolding of her mother. She was not going to grow more meat if Han Ziyan skipped a meal, but she was certainly happy thinking about how Han Ziyan would finally taste the feeling of staying hungry as she did in the past.
