When Han Ruochen heard the shameless words of her half-sister, she was speechless. She turned and looked at the woman incredulously. Where did she get this confidence from? Before saying those words, did Han Ziyan even ask Han Ruochen if she was willing or not? Who was she to make the decision for her? Just like that, she asked Second Grandpa Zhai to buy the job from her. Was Han Ruochen even willing? Did she even consider that?

Even Han Yichen was shocked by the shamelessness and audacity. He thought that he had seen the worst in his adopted daughter, but it seemed like he hadn’t.

Meng Yunhan, on the other hand, didn’t see anything wrong with Han Ziyan’s suggestion. Instead, she thought that it was a very good idea. If they sold Han Ruochen’s job to the Zhai family, then they would owe them double the favour that way. When she was done settling Han Ruochen, she could always ask the Zhai family’s elders to arrange a good job for Han Ziyan. Anyway, Meng Yunhan didn’t feel like the situation was way too out of control. She could still make Han Ruochen marry the man of her choice.

There was more than just one way after all.

She clapped her hands and said to Second Grandpa Zhai, "Ziyan is right. Ruochen is rebellious and ungrateful; she doesn’t understand the importance of this good job. It would be better if someone who cares and understands how important and hard it is to get a decent job started doing it."

"Shut up!" Han Yichen snapped at his wife. He felt like all the respect that Han Ruochen earned for him had been thrown on the ground by Meng Yunhan and Han Ziyan. How could they even suggest it? He glared at the two and said to Meng Yunhan, "Have you lost your mind? How can you even suggest such a thing? Is the job yours to take such a decision?"

Han Yichen knew that his wife had some opinions when it came to their children and that she was rather strict on them, too, but he never expected that she was this lawless. Who was she to make the decisions for Han Ruochen? And who gave her the right to take Han Ruochen’s job for granted? Ruochen was standing right in front of her, and yet she didn’t even ask her if she was willing. She just announced her own decision!

"But—"

"Enough!" Han Yichen didn’t want to make a spectacle out of the current situation. He simply glared at his wife and Han Ziyan before turning to look at Second Grandpa Zhai with a polite and embarrassed look on his face. "I am so sorry about this, Second Uncle."

"It’s alright." Second Grandpa Zhai knew what kind of person Meng Yunhan was, but he never knew that this woman was so crazy that, for the sake of her adopted daughter, she was willing to ruin her own children for her. He then turned to look at Han Ziyan and took a closer look at her. It seemed like this young woman was not as simple as he thought she was—her obedient actions looked more and more like an act compared to Han Ruochen’s obedience and kindness.

He then got to his feet and said to Han Yichen, "Then I will be taking my leave. Han Yichen, if any problem arises in the future and you cannot deal with it, then you can still come to me. I promise on behalf of the entire Zhai family, we will try to do everything in our power to help you."

Han Yichen frowned when he heard Second Grandpa Zhai say that he could still ask him for help in the future. What did he mean by those words? When did he go to ask for help from him?

He was already buried in enough favours. So how could he possibly ask for more?

When Second Grandpa Zhai saw the look of sheer bewilderment on Han Yichen’s face, he showed an expected look on his face and turned to look at Meng Yunhan before taking his leave. He gave her a rather deep look that frightened Meng Yunhan as she understood Second Grandpa Zhai’s meaning.

Han Yichen showed him out, and when he returned, he looked at Meng Yunhan and asked, "What did Second Uncle mean by those words?"

"What do you mean? Are you doubting me?" Meng Yunhan knew that if Han Yichen found out the truth, he would blow his temper. After all, he had just lost his temper at her after he found out that she had used all of his savings. If he were to find out that she went to Second Grandpa Zhai to help pull some strings for her cousin, she was worried that this man might even kick her out. She couldn’t allow that to happen and hurriedly changed the topic. "Anyway, this is not important. Why did you stop me just now? Wasn’t Ziyan’s suggestion appropriate? Han Ruochen is going to resign anyway, so why not use this opportunity to repay the favours that we owe the Zhai family?
