Reborn with a Space: Hoarding Food and Raising My Kid
Chapter 138 - 126: Entering the Hospital
Flora Bloom’s group steamrolled through the zombie horde unimpeded, happily digging Crystal Cores from the zombies’ heads along the way.
Soon, the group arrived at the main entrance of the Red Cross International Hospital.
After quickly clearing out all the zombies at the hospital entrance, the group slid down from the Juggernaut’s front limbs. They had the Juggernaut block the main entrance while Vert and the Golden Cicada stood watch in the air. The grand procession of nine people and four beasts strode through the main entrance and into the hospital.
"Mom, did my brother ever say what was wrong with his girlfriend?"
Flora Bloom’s words made Jade’s face change again. Under Flora Bloom’s direct gaze, she finally said it, "Ob-Obstetrics and Gynecology."
As soon as Jade spoke, everyone understood the implications. For a man to follow a woman to the hospital to be with her, and in the obstetrics and gynecology department no less, there was only one conclusion to draw.
The first one whose expression changed was Caleb Bloom.
"This... This is just! That animal!"
The others didn’t feel it was their place to interfere in Flora Bloom’s family matters, but the most important thing right now was to find him.
"Caleb, don’t get too worked up. Let’s find the boy first," Sherman Lynch said, trying to soothe Caleb Bloom’s temper as he patted his shoulder. "What’s most important is that he’s alive."
"Let’s go. To the obstetrics and gynecology building." Flora Bloom used the satellite positioning system as a GPS, pulling up its map and leading her group of people and beasts toward the OB/GYN building.
As expected of a major international hospital, it wasn’t just sprawling, but the environment inside was also very serene. If it weren’t for the many marks on the ground hinting at what had happened here, it would have been a good place to set up a base. But Flora Bloom had no particular fondness for using hospitals as strongholds.
Soon, they arrived outside the obstetrics and gynecology building. The main doors were shut tight. Even the metal roll-down gate was closed and locked, with the word "DANGER" painted on it in large letters.
Flora Bloom raised her axe and smashed the lock on the metal gate. The loud noise triggered some familiar guttural roars and the sound of footsteps from inside.
The building behind them, separated by a flowerbed, was the inpatient department. After Flora Bloom smashed the lock, someone on the roof of the inpatient building shouted at them.
"Hey, don’t go in! It’s full of zombies in there!"
Flora Bloom’s group looked up at the roof of the building behind them. There were two men; one was holding binoculars, and the other had a sniper rifle aimed in their direction.
Flora Bloom ignored them. With one swing of her axe, she shattered the glass doors behind the gate, then kicked them open.
’In her past life, her brother died saving Belle Bloom during the zombie uprising in the third year of the apocalypse. In this life, the third year of the apocalypse hadn’t arrived yet, and Belle Bloom was already dead. She refused to believe that something would still happen to Joel Bloom.’
But even so, finding him would still take some effort. No matter what, Flora Bloom silently resolved to search every corner to find Joel Bloom.
What she didn’t know, however, was that Joel Bloom had escaped the hospital with his girlfriend, Lucia, long ago. They had made it to an astronomical weather station, where he was currently suffering immense, torturous pain.
WHOOSH! The sound of a bullet slicing through the air rang out. Before the group could even react in shock, a zombie next to Caleb was shot directly in the head and dropped to the ground.
At the same time, the zombies inside the OB/GYN building surged out like beasts escaping a cage, roaring as they charged toward the team of humans and animals.
CRACKLE! Whitey’s lightning struck the front row of zombies, instantly felling a large swath of them. The zombies behind were caught off guard; some tripped over the fallen, while others leaped out, pouncing directly at Flora Bloom and her group.
The sound of the sniper rifle from behind them rang out continuously. Every shot was a headshot, never missing its mark. Moreover, each bullet took down a zombie that the group hadn’t noticed and was just about to lunge and bite, which left them all very surprised.
With the help of the sniper on the rooftop behind them, Flora Bloom’s group quickly exterminated all the zombies that had rushed out—about seventy or eighty of them, all dressed in doctor’s coats, nurse uniforms, or the clothes of young women.
’What made Flora Bloom feel both relieved and puzzled was that Joel Bloom was not among them. But the strange thing was, this was clearly the obstetrics and gynecology department, so how was it that not a single one of the female zombies was pregnant?’
The two men on the rooftop watched as the nine people—accompanied by a fat goose, a small white tiger cub, and two monkeys three times the size of a burly adult man—swiftly cleared out all the zombies and began digging out Crystal Cores. A glimmer of hope appeared in their eyes.
’This group is incredibly strong, and they have powerful creatures with them. If they’re here, does that mean we can finally escape this hospital?’
What they didn’t know at this moment was that the Juggernaut had already cleared the hospital’s main entrance. Moreover, the three beasts left at the gate—the Juggernaut, Vert, and the Golden Cicada—had not only guarded the entrance but had also cleared out all the nearby zombies and consumed their Crystal Cores.
Although Flora Bloom’s space was good, and its spiritual water and Spiritual Energy could alter and evolve their bodies, it couldn’t help them level up quickly.
Now that they were in the outside world, they could hunt zombies and devour Crystal Cores to replenish their energy at any time.
The sniper, Mark Sterling, watched as Flora Bloom and her group finished collecting the Crystal Cores and unhesitatingly stepped through the entrance of the OB/GYN building, disappearing from sight.
The two men on the rooftop looked at each other. "Should we go... help?" Mark Sterling asked, a little uncertain. After all, they were terrified of the monsters in that OB/GYN building.
They had barely managed to escape and seal that place off before. What sense did it make to go back and walk right into the tiger’s den?
The man with the binoculars had Western features, with handsome, sky-blue eyes. His short blond hair was so dirty and matted that it looked almost brown.
He spoke fluent Chinese and shrugged. "I’m good with whatever. If you go, I’ll go!"
The two of them were teammates on an esports team. On the day the apocalypse began, they were on their way back to the club. Seeing that things were going south, they drove straight to the police station.
Who knew the police station would also be full of zombies? After spending two days in the armory, the two, starving and desperate, armed themselves to the teeth and fought their way out.
The mixed-race man’s in-game name on the team was Fakyoo—a very punchable name. But because his real name was too long, the group of edgy teenagers who trained and gamed all day couldn’t be bothered to remember it, so they just always called him Fakyoo.
"Fakyoo, let’s go. We’re going to help! I have a feeling we can escape if we stick with that group!"
Fakyoo looked at Mark Sterling, his aqua-blue eyes full of determination. "Let’s go, let’s go! If we stay here, we’ll just die when the food runs out anyway. I’m with you!"
The two of them descended from the rooftop. Below was a ward floor that they had already cleared. Survivors from the international hospital were living in every room. But when the two returned to the ward, expressions of helplessness and frustration appeared on their faces.
The ward held men and women, old and young—a total of forty to fifty people. Hearing the noise, they peeked out of their doorways to check. Seeing it was just the two of them returning, they breathed a sigh of relief.
"Everyone, come over here! I just saw some people enter the hospital. They’re really strong, so Stu and I talked it over and decided to go with them."
Fakyoo’s words were met with dead silence from everyone present.
"Anyone who wants to come with us should follow us now. We’re almost out of food here. If we don’t leave, it’ll be hard to survive much longer!"
