Reborn with a Space: Hoarding Food and Raising My Kid
Chapter 205 - 193: Jumping into the Lava
Lex Cross’s unique black energy enveloped Flora Bloom as well. "Let’s go, into the cavern. They’re too big; their flight speed will be reduced in the tunnels."
But something was even faster than them—the octopus monster! It tossed the two eggs from its tentacles toward Flora Bloom and Lex Cross, then snatched up several unknown red Energy Crystal Balls and vanished with a SWOOSH into a cavern tunnel.
"My Energy Crystals!" the male Thunderbird shrieked, watching the octopus monster disappear. His body crackled with thunderous sparks, burning with rage.
Those Energy Crystals were what he’d brought from his family to help incubate his offspring! How could they be stolen by a thief from the Great Crow clan!
"The Great Crow clan! To think you’ve fallen so low as to ally with humans! How disgraceful!"
Flora Bloom deftly caught the two eggs. Enveloped by Lex Cross’s black energy, they were about to dash into the tunnel in the next instant.
"Leave my egg, and you can take the other one!" the female bird’s cool, elegant voice suddenly called out. Her enormous body drew near the cavern entrance where the two were.
"Lord Lex Cross, my Thunderbird clan keeps its word. Please give me back my child!"
"How can you guarantee that?" Lex Cross’s cold eyes glanced at the male bird nearby, who was already gathering a massive amount of Thunder Energy.
"Your husband doesn’t seem to think so!"
Lex Cross took the Thunderbird egg from Flora Bloom’s hand with one of his own. As he did, he inadvertently touched the other, fiery-colored, unknown bird egg. His expression changed suddenly, but then his features relaxed, and he smiled.
’No wonder they say this girl is lucky! On a planet like Earth, she managed to obtain that person’s Divine-level internal space and even make it acknowledge her as its master.’
’You have to understand, if she hadn’t possessed a Water Ability when the space was acknowledging its master, her energy wouldn’t have matched the Crystal Stone fragments, and she would have exploded and died while absorbing them.’
’If that wasn’t considered good luck, then this Golden Crow Egg in front of them, containing heaven-scorching Fire Element Energy, was more than enough to prove this woman’s astonishing fortune.’
’The Golden Crow clan has a thin bloodline; no two can exist in the same time and space within a universe. Each one possesses world-shaking combat power. They are the Kings among all avian races.’
’He didn’t know how this Golden Crow Egg ended up on Earth, but for this woman to stumble upon such an opportunity... her luck was simply heaven-defying!’
’Originally, they had no hope of getting the Fire Element Crystal Stone hidden at the bottom of the lava. But with this Golden Crow Egg, they could jump into the lava and emerge unscathed!’
Just then, the male Thunderbird suddenly erupted with power and charged toward the direction the two were trying to flee.
The female bird was taken by surprise. After shouting, "Be careful not to hurt my child!" she moved to intercept the male bird charging at Lex Cross.
But at that moment, Lex Cross, with Flora Bloom in tow, did something completely unexpected. Instead of rushing into the cavern tunnel, he spun around, and with a single leap, jumped into the lava below the cliff.
"AAGH! My child!" The female bird’s mournful shriek pierced their eardrums. The male bird’s attack shattered the tunnel’s stone wall. When he realized what had happened and saw the two disappear into the lava, he froze on the spot.
The two Thunderbirds were suddenly enveloped in surging energy. They transformed into a human man and woman, standing on the edge of the cliff and staring down in the direction the pair had jumped!
The woman was cool and proud, but her eyes were brimming with tears. Her gaze toward the man was full of blame. She cried out, heartbroken.
"This is all your fault! You just had to kill them! If word gets back home that we forced Lord Lex Cross to his death, the ancestors of the Cross family will never forgive us! Even my own family will suffer!"
"What’s there to be afraid of? Lex Cross fell to this state, who knows what really happened? It’s possible no one will ever find out!"
"You! You heartless monster! I nurtured that child for a hundred years! It had the potential to become the next great genius of the Thunderbird clan! How could you be so cruel!"
The man looked at his weeping wife and reached out to hold her trembling shoulders.
"Stop crying. Earth’s Spiritual Energy is reviving, and its laws are unique! Offspring born here can evolve. If this child is gone, we’ll just have another one! The next one will be even better!"
"The next one? You’re so cold and heartless, how can I ever trust you again!" After speaking, the woman transformed back into her original form and flew away from the lava pit.
A look of helplessness on his face, the man also reverted to his true form and gave chase.
Held fast by Lex Cross’s arm around her waist as they plunged toward the lava, Flora Bloom’s mind went completely blank.
’Lex Cross, you bastard! I only rejected you once, and you take the first chance you get to die with me!’
Lex Cross’s arm around Flora Bloom trembled. He shot an exasperated glare at the woman, who had her eyes squeezed shut in terror. He was about to explain, but the words that came out took a different turn.
"That’s right. Let’s see you dare to reject me again in the future!"
"Ah! What future?! We’re both going to die today, there is no future!"
Flora Bloom wanted to cry but had no tears, her only recourse to clutch the Fire Element egg tightly in her hands.
’She had thought that after her rebirth, with her foreknowledge of the apocalypse and her own personal space, she’d be able to keep her family safe and everything would go smoothly.’
But now, the lava, radiating an explosive, high-temperature aura, was just inches away, about to swallow them whole.
But just then, the egg in her arms suddenly twitched. A comfortable aura emanated from it with her at the center, then unfurled into a transparent, magnetic-field-like barrier, enveloping both her and Lex Cross.
SPLASH! The two of them, and the two eggs, fell into the superheated lava.
Then, the horrifying scenes Flora Bloom had imagined a thousand times over—searing heat, instant incineration—did not come to pass.
When she opened her eyes, she instead found Lex Cross looking at her, his eyes smiling, his expression one of helpless exasperation.
"You have that little faith in me?"
Flora Bloom clutched the egg in her arms and looked left and right. They were completely unharmed. A reproachful gaze drifted toward Lex Cross.
"You knew we’d be fine if we jumped, didn’t you?"
"What do you think?" Lex Cross smirked, looking at the relieved, post-disaster expression on Flora Bloom’s face. "Sometimes I really do wonder if you have a lucky halo over your head. With this egg, not even the most explosive Fire Element can harm us."
The egg had protected them within a soft barrier of light. Outside the barrier, it was a world of fire and lava.
The flowing lava, filled with violent Fire Element energy, streamed over the light barrier, assaulting Flora Bloom’s senses. She was terrified that with one wrong move, the fiery, bright lava would break through the barrier and slam into her face.
She reached out and touched the barrier protecting them. With a SIZZLE, smoke instantly rose from Flora Bloom’s finger as the flesh on her fingertip was burned away. Even the nail and bone underneath were significantly melted.
The violent Fire Element Energy lingered on her fingertip, trying to continue consuming her finger. Flora Bloom quickly activated her Water Ability, surrounding her fingertip to fight back against the Fire Element Energy. For a moment, they were locked in a stalemate.
"This barrier is an energy shield created by the Three-Legged Golden Crow; it’s also Fire Element. And it’s purer and more violent than the surrounding lava. Ordinary water can’t disperse its Fire Energy. Try using your Space Spirit Water!"
Flora Bloom obediently summoned a handful of spiritual water and dripped it onto her fingertip. Sure enough, the violent energy was easily dispersed by a few drops of spiritual water, and her finger was restored to its original state.
"The Fire Element Energy from this egg is so domineering! If I didn’t have my spiritual water to protect me, I feel like that little bit of Fire Energy on my fingertip could have slowly incinerated me. That’s terrifying!"
"The terror of a Three-Legged Golden Crow goes far beyond that." Lex Cross reached out and stroked the fiery-colored egg. "This egg was probably laid over a thousand years ago. It requires the purest Fire Element Energy to hatch. The Thunderbird couple probably didn’t know it was a Golden Crow Egg, so they just kept it in their cold, damp nest. It wouldn’t have hatched even after another thousand years!"
"So what do we do now? How can we hatch it?"
"We don’t have to do anything. The lava here contains Earth’s purest Fire Element Energy. See this barrier it’s emitting? It’s actually absorbing the Fire Element Energy from our surroundings."
