Chapter 799 - 334: An Auspicious Day_2
With Gao Diaomao’s connections, it wouldn’t be impossible to find a relevant leader to help out, but it really was quite... humiliating to bother someone in the middle of the night over such an issue.
It would have been better not to ask. As the questions continued, his temper flared up again.
"What?! You’ve already slapped her before, and Han Lie has even been dragged into this?!"
"Ah..."
Gao Shen shrank back, stuttering his response.
"Bai Yuqiu called her sister, and Han Lie happened to be on a date with Bai Yuxue, so they came together..."
Gao Diaomao’s tightly furrowed brows suddenly relaxed.
He was an extremely suspicious man, and upon hearing Han Lie’s name, his first instinct was to wonder if there was a problem.
However, after listening to Gao Shen’s account, he was convinced it was just a coincidence.
Han Lie had merely accompanied Bai Yuxue for a short visit. He hadn’t had any contact with Bai Yuqiu the entire time and clearly didn’t intend to get involved in their family matters, maintaining an air of complete indifference.
Afterward, Han Lie had left so decisively. It was entirely Gao Shen’s own lack of self-control, hitting Bai Yuqiu again, that had provoked such an intense reaction.
What did that have to do with Han Lie!
Gao Diaomao felt a sliver of relief, but the rest of him seethed with anger, his heart pounding furiously.
"Are you fucking constipated with shit for brains?! Knowing full well Bai Yuxue is Han Lie’s mistress, you motherfucker still hit her older sister?! They came to mediate, and you couldn’t even show them some respect by holding your temper for three days? What, would that have killed you?! Fine, just fine! Han Lie had barely left, and you turn around and put Bai Yuqiu in the hospital! Gao Shen, you’re really something else!"
Hearing his father call out his full name, Gao Shen nearly ground his teeth to dust.
But he also felt wronged.
"I really didn’t mean to hit her again! Back then, I was so afraid I wouldn’t be able to control my temper that I didn’t even dare drink whiskey when I was with Han Lie! We each poured a bit of dry red wine. I don’t know how, but I was half-drunk after just that little bit, and then Bai Yuqiu started saying those things to me..."
"Say what?!"
Gao Diaomao didn’t believe a word. He sneered, "Oh really? Let’s hear it. What old wound did she pick at that has you making all these excuses?"
How could he possibly repeat those words?
It concerned a man’s dignity; he couldn’t tell anyone!
So he mumbled evasively, "Anyway, it was just stuff about how I couldn’t compare to Han Lie, how she must have been blind to choose me, how her life wasn’t as good as Bai Yuxue’s... It was incredibly damaging to my pride..."
"You still have the fucking nerve to talk about pride?!"
Gao Diaomao grew even angrier. "Isn’t what Bai Yuqiu said the truth? Besides being much older than him, what do you possibly have to compare with Han Lie? If you showed even a shred of promise, would I have to grovel before some country bumpkin from out of town?!"
Gao Shen was also fed up with being insulted.
He was already feeling awful, with pressure building up. His mental state was all wrong, and now, being continuously "humiliated" by his father, he finally exploded.
BANG!
Gao Shen slammed his fist on the table, panting heavily as he erupted in a furious roar.
"Even if I don’t measure up to him, I’m still your son! If it weren’t for that damn mess you made, why would I be so full of pent-up rage?! Bai Yuqiu wants a divorce—don’t you know the real reason why?!"
Gao Diaomao was taken aback for a moment, then he too shot up and slammed the table.
"Gao Shen! Yes, your mother instigated the divorce, but didn’t you tacitly agree?! If you were unwilling, then why the hell did you transfer assets?! Since you’ve already stopped treating her as your wife, what the hell are you so angry about now? And you dare fucking slam the table at me? Have you lost your mind?!"
Just as their argument reached its peak, there was loud knocking at the door. The woman from before called out, annoyed, "Hey, hey! Keep it down! You think this is your own house?"
Father and son both fell silent at once but still glared at each other with fury, neither willing to back down.
Gao Shen was, indeed, a coward at heart; he lacked a backbone.
But when the "enemy" he faced was his father, the sense of security that came with their blood relationship made him daring enough to rebel, often able to go all out.
Like when he married Bai Yuqiu, he had defied his family for a long time.
Gao Diaomao panted for a moment, then said through gritted teeth, "Fine, so your wings have hardened, huh? Those assets you siphoned off from that failing company of yours? Don’t even think about them! If you’ve got the guts, leave me and your mother. Go start from scratch and actually achieve something for once!"
Gao Shen sneered, retorting with the reckless abandon of one who felt he had nothing left to lose.
"Fine! Don’t get your hopes up about the real estate company’s shares either. I’ll sell them off as my startup capital... Oh, right, once we really get divorced, I might even have to give half to Bai Yuqiu!"
"You wouldn’t dare!"
Gao Diaomao almost blew his top.
However, Gao Shen was unfazed, even feeling a perverse thrill from his unbridled outburst.
"My shares, why wouldn’t I dare? Tomorrow I’ll go find Han Lie; maybe I can even get a good price!"
Hearing his son mention Han Lie, Gao Diaomao, contrary to expectation, seemed to calm down.
"Heh! You think you’re in any position to make demands of Han Lie? And he’d spend money on your shares when he can get 20% for free? Fool, you really underestimate Han Lie’s capabilities and standing!" 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
Gao Shen’s face paled with fury. He squeezed out two words through gritted teeth, "Just wait!"
The discussion between father and son ended on a sour note.
Gao Diaomao didn’t bother with Gao Shen anymore and stormed home in a fury.
When Duan Xiaofeng asked about it, he yelled, "He won’t die!"
Duan Xiaofeng was both furious and anxious, but there was nothing she could do. After a long wait until 7 a.m., she went to the police station herself.
